  1. just thought id link my thread in here of what ive been busy building. its viewable as a guest on passionford for anyone whos interested http://wzeu.search-results.com/r?t=p&d=apn&s=zuk&c=a&app=aoth&l=dis&o=15634&sv=0a652924&ip=6d953392&id=D2E2A836DC03A750B78609D4DA12C241&q=passionford+dragster&p=1&qs=121&ac=144&g=39d1ApzRb0URMN&cu.wz=0&en=gs&io=0&ep=&eo=&b=a001&bc=&br=&tp=d&ec=1&pt=a%20dragster%20is%20born%20RUNNING%20VIDEO%20PAGE%203%20%3B)%20-%20PassionFord&ex=&url=&u=http%3A%2F%2Fpassionford.com%2Fforum%2Frestorations-rebuilds-and-projects%2F408216-a-dragster-is-born-running-video-page-3-a.html
  2. well i did 11.9 at pod on a 2.4 60 ft, 1/4 mph 134 mph spinning upto top of 3rd gear. i have now ordered a full carbonetics rebuild kit so clutch will be as new ready for next year im not gonna use the supra for pod anymore as its my road car but will use it for anything rolling start and top speed. im building something abit different for pod ..............
  3. i purchased my supra with no rear seat belts fitted. im looking for the whole lot, all belts, latches, lap belt, bolts etc
  4. il be attempting first start up of my new project tommorrow, whats bottom line on these tyres mate as they will fit my dragster.
  5. interesting read that and states roughly just add about 9% to hub power for engine power, which would seem relevant to tdis anyways as rototest themselvesd also say average of around 9%. i made 758 latest on tdis and trapped 134 mph on a far from perfect run with no burnout on nittos, so add 9% will be 830 crank hp which should be about right considering my weight and trap speed. jamie when you consider you are in the 10s with 2.2 60fts over 150 mph that in itself proves how quick your car is, if your 1700kg total your 152 mph proves your at least 1000 whp which will always be abit less than hub power, and irreleivant to what anyone says when you get the launch right and get a 1.6 sec 60 foot you will be gaining more speed than ever before so be trapping even higher, and also be straight in the 9s.
  6. aero dynamics have very little affect until the speeds get up higher than 100 mph.
  7. a quick launch will majorly affect the time but the speed only comes with hp
  8. this stuff always interests me, i have this chart from rob at rips racing forget et just look at terminal, i managed 134 mph 2 weeks ago at pod at 1750kg is about 740 whp.
  9. what width rims are these approved on mate ?
  10. thats a suprise as there £95 each new ! i guess £150 delivered then is where il have to be
  11. yes mate misfire gone, i think the new plugs and coils possibly masked an underying problem but none the less spark is definitely improved and no misfires now.
  12. it should sustain 14 volts on a good alt regardless of battery charge. it is definately a heat issue as if i stop the car while its hot and voltage has dropped and wait 10 mins then restart the voltage is still around 13.1 - 13.4, but if i leave it an hour or 2 so as the engine bay has cooled right down and start it shes straight back up to 14.1 - 14.3 volts. i may try heat wrapping the alternator as its prefect until it overheats.
  13. the twin rebuild kit is £650 + vat so id assume around £900 + vat. im not sure what to do yet i do like the idea of the rps carbon triple as it eliminates the metal problem the carbonetics has.
  14. this is my issue the car was mapped everything set up with 14 volts, so shes grumbling with lower voltage. im gonna check all the earths first and run a few more aswell alt to engine, alt to body and bat to body and go from there.
  15. i was getting severe wheel hop yesterday at the pod resulting in my not being able to do a burnout at all and just clutch slipping to launch ! im gonna check out the backend and see what i can see just curious what the common issues are with supras wheel hoping ?
  16. i had a single misfire at 6500 rpm after refitting my clutch so changed my plugs and coils for ngk 9s and superspark and the issue was solved, but ive since realised i had a bad earth to the battery so although i had 14.1 at the body i only had 12.7 volts at the battery. ive also had to up the fuel pressure to compensate for a voltage drop im getting once the car is warm. basically it seems the electrical issues made it so my spark system was struggling due to lower voltage whereas the new stuff has coped better when at lower voltage, im 99% sure if i had sorted the voltage drop and bad earths it would of cured my misfire. all spark plugs look mint and i didnt notice any damage on the coilpacks. i dont actually think theres anything wrong with them so there here for sale at £250 the lot delivered in the uk. i can add some pics if requested tommorrow when i go to the workshop. ive just spent £600 replaceing this little lot so its a bargain imo.
  17. my fuel pumps sound perfectly happy at 14.2 volts but once it drops to 13.4 i can hear them get louder and fuel pressure has a slight dip which then causes slight leaning off if on lower boost than 2 bar.
  18. my alternator voltage runs 14.2 volts when i start it and holds fine but once ive driven it hard for a while its dropping to 13.4 volts, sometimes 13.1, if i stand the car and let it cool its back to 14.2 again ? i run a big single with a big header and the alternator sits right below it and there is no form of heatshield, could the heat be affecting it ? are there heat shields available ?
  19. paul said around £800 with the vat which is good for a full rebuild kit imo, clutch held up well today the best i managed was 11.9 et and best mph was 134 with 60fts ranging from 2.2 to 2.7 seconds lol couldnt burnout or launch hard as was getting major tramp, i have slight voltage issues now with i think heat soak in the alternator and fuel pumps getting noisier but it might just be voltage related not sure yet.
  20. its still 3.4 as my last dyno chart shows 100 rpm quicker spool on same turbo but bb, i have the magazine and yes it was the first in europe.
  21. phoned up paul at whifbitz wednesday at 4 pm, i was flapping about trying to cure a misfire he had some ngk racing 9s and superspark coilpacks on the shelf, good price and i could collect first thing thursday morning, very helpful and parts in stock, also does carbonetics full rebuild kits at an amazingly cheap price so i may be keeping it now and doing a proper rebuild on my carbonetics triple when it fails next time. pod tommorrow fingers crossed she holds together lol
  22. that is very true, the power isnt linear neither as a percentage, it decreases as boost and heat increases normally. i just dont understand how the pump is pushing that much fuel ?
  23. that is very odd i dont understand how it can make that power on 1 pump asaik the pump physically cant move enough fuel, they only ever seem to make around 550 - 600 hp on a cosworth when theyve maxed out and a second pump is needed ? i run 2 walbros and as soon as it saw boost on the dyno on 1 pump it went instantly lean.
