How? If the ABS is kicking in you've locked up, and if you're locked up you're probably seconds away from having an accident. I would bet 99.9% of road users couldn't beat an ABS system when avoiding a shunt when it really counts.

Possibly a dodgy brake light lamp. Have two of the rear brake lights been converted to fog lights? It could be a loose wire to the resistors which stops that warning light coming on after the conversion.
