Being able to open a folder and check an indvidual photo would make things a lot simpler.

iPhoto organises photos into events, you won't have that option if you're using a pc. There isn't one. You would have to have that one photo in it's own folder and then sync.

Is that the same as holding down the button on a Bluetooth headset? If it is that should work. When Siri is switched on it replaces the voice command you would normally get when holding down the home button.
