I'll be removing my fuel tank so figured changing out the 21 year old fuel pump for something newer could be a reasonable call while the tank is off. Been looking up the OE pump 23221-46070 and its a 'really is that correct' on the pricing; ranging from $300 to $420 which will probably translate to £500 Toyota UK which is a bit silly for a fuel pump. What are the options for alternatives for the GTE engine? The OE pump is a Denso unit and DENSO 950-0155 is touted as the one to go for at around £150. Anyone fitted the DENSO 950-0155 and can confirm all is well in BPU World. Or indeed any other alternatives around that price?

Spot the 2K paint job, that's an unfair comparison to frothy impact resistant Underguard. I have thought about getting new arms but I'm going bide my time on that and look over the ones on the car first when they are off before going down that expensive path. I have options there as the replacement frame came with all the arms and hubs but the bushes, ball joints and dust covers on those aren't fantastic. It was all supposed to be off a low mileage import car but they must have been hard miles. But I'll have two sets to look at with the option of picking the best from two used or going for new. Decisions don't come easy or cheap. I just know if I elect to go new I'd just have to buy all new for the front end at the same time ready for when that is done. That'd get to be lots of money with new rods, arms and bushes.

People seem to rave about this stuff as a fuel additive that cleans (including carbon deposit stripping) and lubricates the upper parts of the engine and injectors. I even bought some myself. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=Lucas+Oil+Upper+Cylinder+Lubricant+%26+Injector+Cleaner+&sourceid=ie7&rls=com.microsoft:en-GB:IE-ContextMenu&ie=&oe=&gfe_rd=cr&ei=uDZeWZO6EYb38AeVvbjABg#q=Lucas+Oil+Upper+Cylinder+Lubricant+%26+Injector+Cleaner&tbm=vid&spf=1499346635648

Solid bushes out and sleeve cleaned up. They came out a lot easier than expected. Did a 1K etch prime coat followed by two coats of Simoniz Underguard. That's strange paint as it froths up when applied. Presumably to give it a deliberately crinkly type of finish. Supposed to be impact resistant paint so every crinkle counts. Next update will be beginning of September when I will try manfully to get all the new bushes (some just ordered) mated with the frame.

Bump - open to sensible offers -
First time I've ever read that.

I'd check another engine using the same gauge as it'd be an act of faith to just accept what a gauge tells you in absolute terms unless it has been recently calibrated.

Links to a couple of pictures of the solid bushing. One thing I'm a little concerned about trying to cut the mounts out of the frame is that it appears as though it has a spacer ring as well as the solid mount welded to the frame. Maybe it needs a professional metal shop to tackle this job? https://www.dropbox.com/s/leulzynagipcdxc/20170704_132322.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/0bezuso9yxad600/20170704_132225.jpg?dl=0

They are solid which to be honest I'm a bit miffed about as I wasn't made aware it was a modified frame when I purchased it and never having seen one before except the one fitted to my car I never clocked the solid front mounts. I have wondered what to do with those front mounts as all the other bushes are going to be the rubber OE variety. The thought of transmission noise makes me want to tackle the welds holding these solid bushes onto the frame with a thin cutting disc but then there is the concern I could end up with a very uneven surface for the new bush. Any thought on leave alone or go for it because the noise will be unbearable (sods law, one 1cm weld is inaccessible to a cutting disc)?

Good turn around time for the frame, 6 days. Picking the sub frame up on Monday from Howells. I'll post up a pic of the galvanized frame next week. I'll then be applying a 1K etch primer that I'll be gun spraying followed up by 1K acrylic black for the top coats that I have in spray cans. Then it'll be ready for a new set of OE bushes and finally fitting.

As far as I know Recaro seats were always an optional extra and never standard fit. It seems no one really knows for sure what the difference is between a RZ and a RZ-S but general consensus seems to coalesce around bigger brakes and genuine yellow bilstein shocks though my 96 TT6 had yellow billsteins and the smaller brakes. I think you'd need to ask Toyota for a definitive if anyone is still there who remembers back that far. The colour was very popular back in the 90's so there are a lot of original silver cars and that reflects in the price. Seeing the insurance market value for TT6's is £12k you wouldn't want to be buying an auto for near to that figure. If he wants to sell then £8k is reasonable, if you want to buy then £10k is reasonable and for insurance add on couple of grand if you go for agreed insurance value cover. Be worth checking with any insurer you plan using what they have as the market value for the car and that'll at least give you a (probably low) reference point to work from.

They did, but I believe the TT had 9JJ rears and the NA had all 8JJ front and rears. Its a set of four 8JJ's so suited to a SZ. -
I bought a full set of alloys (with caps) off eBay. Were supposed to be off a TT but when I got them they were 16" off a NA. eBay seller never responded to my questions or comments so I kept the wheels pending buying a proper 17" set for my TT. I now have procured a set of 17's so can offer the 16" set for sale. Including a couple of 225X50X16 part worn but near new tread (6mm+) Michelin tyres. Needs two 235/50/16's or 245/50/16's for the set. £260 collected (or self organised collection) or £315 tied onto a pallet delivered. Includes: 4 X Toyota 16" Alloy Wheels 4 X Centre Caps 2 X 225/50/16 Michelin tyres Large picture files uploaded onto droplink to view and zoom in and around. https://www.dropbox.com/s/mj1hogsmginlmg1/20170629_144231.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/ec5n1ozywg6eor4/20170629_144259.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/2zom0a8vyi3p5uy/20170629_144318.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/4int5rvn1oi7w4v/20170629_144338.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/0bzszqha8yv45ex/20170629_144356.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/ohtlsalfxq48hl2/20170629_144445.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/016ubw6oeyd0e9v/20170629_144522.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/hpx1jvbz0ecb6iw/20170629_144605.jpg?dl=0 Picture of tyres from original eBay ad - tyres are still wrapped awaiting fitting

My JDM car has been in the UK for 19 years and it looks nothing like that. Years of sat in a non aired or dehumidified garage will do that to anything ferrous metal based.

I made an enquiry on the blue one maybe 10 days ago and it was still for sale. Didn't go to see it in the end as its a seaside car and has been for many years. Don't thinks years of sea air will have done it any favours.

You have to be careful with the Chinese parts site as possible scam sites and also potentially the quality of materials used in stress bearing components. The Miparts site is registered to ROOM 705 OFFICE BUILDING DEEP BLUE PLAZA NO.205 CHAOHUI ROAD. Leaves you wondering what comes out of room 704.
