Does anyone have a new set of rear arms they wish to be parted from? Part numbers 48730-14030 and 48740-14060?
-
Look after it and itshould provide years of trouble free motoroing and probably be worth more than you paid for it.

There are lots of sites selling brand new unopened sets for under £700 a set. Sure you could also buy a brand new unopened set for £800 if you wanted to. So no problem with Whifbitz, i use them myself for their bespoke parts. Never for generic or distributed parts because there are plenty cheaper resellers around.

Whifbitz as a price guide is never a great reference point, they will never knowingly be the cheapest.

Lots of threads in this.

If anyone ever needs a copy of the how to on stem seal replacement from the above linked thread then I have a pdf file copy, with the pictures included before the PB erasure.

Bit more to buy. Before you start the parts you need to order are:- Valve stem seal (Inlet) 90913-02088 12 off at £3.53 each Valve stem seal (Exhaust) 90913-02123 12 off at £4.93 each Cam shaft oil seal 90311-40020 2 off at £6.59 each I recommend that if you've not had the camcovers off in a while you also order the following:- Cam cover bolts 90105-06166 12 off at £0.56 each Cam cover nut 90179-06288 4 off at £0.56 each Cam cover washer 90210-07001 16 off at £1.83 each Cam cover gasket (Inlet) 11213-46020 1 off at £7.53 each Cam cover gasket (Exhaust) 11214-46011 1 off at £7.53 each You'll also need some gasket sealant. I bought the Toyota stuff which was a little expensive to say the least, but hell, I've got it now so... Seal packing 08826-00050 1 off at £42.96 If you've not replaced the spark plugs in a while also, you may want to order the following:- Coil pack clip 90980-11246 6 off at £2.81 each Cam breather hose 12263-46010 1 off at £5.78 each Cam breather hose 12264-46010 1 off at £4.98 each. Ignore the prices, they were 2005 prices. I bought into the complete setup ready for if/when and it wasn't cheap.

Suspension Bushing and read across to Soarer and Lexus options
rider replied to rider's topic in mkiv Technical
I recall seeing your input on that and from memory the rear arms had the same pattern which all the bespock (racing) ones I've come across don't. Some even look like welded box section. Dorman have a good reputation for 'cheap' but durable arms so I'll be keeping an eye open for any progress they make towards introducing track rods and rear control arms suited to the Supra. I wont be holding my breath though as it probably wont happen beyond the upper control arms as I'd suspect any parts will be introduced primarily for Lexus customers and the other arms and rods are different lengths or have the drop link in a different position to the Supra. Apparently, the Lexus owners, bastards, have been buying up Supra common control arms because Toyota sold them cheaper than Lexus dealers did and the Supra part bushes are firmer giving a sportier ride. The question to be faced by all owners is do you go for cheap inferior OE pattern parts that will last maybe 30k miles (but that's like 30 years anyway for a lot of Supras) or go for track developed sports fully adjustable suspension in orange, blue or pink with yellow, blue or red bushes this side of blue print part products appearing on the market? -
Suspension Bushing and read across to Soarer and Lexus options
rider replied to rider's topic in mkiv Technical
Looks like no one has ventured beyond the polybush options to the failing supply of OE bushes in Supra World from the lack of response. To add to the bush knowledge base the cheaper bushes that read across from Soarer and Lexus common components are made by a company called Febest. Febest is reportedly an import/distribution company based in Germany and Florida, USA and it is reported by users to source products mainly from India and China. There are a few complainants online about the quality of these bushes (being too soft), exhaust hangers get a thumbs up though. Moog also make the front control arms for the lexus/supra but these get a very bad press for durability. The search goes on, alone. -
If it were me looking for these parts I'd message the winning bidder of the UK barn wreck UK Supra on eBay and asking if they are breaking it and if they are etc. etc.

I had a crank pulley break up but if you are sure that's not the issue I had a squeal on my Mk3 with a dry viscous coupling on the cooling fan. Ran some oil into the fan and the squeal went. Not sure if the Mk4 has the same viscous drive as the mk3?

Whichever is offering free map upgrades for life. though the available disc storage is always a life limiting option on those deals.

500kg, you'll need some rollers to get the weight moved around, Or one Eddie Hall, he lifted 500kg on his own. Have a word with one of your local building supplies companies as they will all have HiaB trucks. Go for a regional one rather than a National chain as they get very jobsworth. Might help if you buy some gravel or bricks to build or beautify the dining area and then say to the driver, while you are here see that big lump there!. A £20 tip works wonders to with these guys. Mind you, you are in Bucks, make that £40.

It does look silver in the pics, the 6NO darker grey is much nicer in my eyes anyway. If it was closer I could be tempted as that'd pass my any car but silver wishes. Any pictures of underneath and engine bay, that could make the distance seem smaller? Particularly if it has the stock air box.

Suspension Bushing and read across to Soarer and Lexus options

Aside from bushes, Dorman in the USA retails front control arms for $80. I use their arms on my Mustang and they are a very good fit alternative to the OE part. -
I'm looking at getting myself a head torch for under car work when they are up on my ramp. Anyone got any recommendations for a rechargeable inexpensive unit as I won't be needing one that lights up a path at a miles distance designed for fell runners.

Use webuyanycar and double the price. Any Supra TT6 would then be worth £900.

I've been looking at various bush options and wonder if there are any pearls people have to throw out. Powerflex versus Super Pro seems to be Supers are better, better fitting and being chamfered have less drag so move, flex, more freely up and down on arms. There is, on a Lexus forum a 'difinitive' guide to read across on parts from Lexus 300 and 400 to the Supra The reason why this could be useful information is there are things like control arm bushes that look like OE style black bushes available for a few £'s online listed as suitable fitment for the Soarer or Lexus beyond the usual purple, blue, red or yellow polymer bushes listed for the Supra. Whether the rubber is any good for the Supra is another question but when you see bushes for these and other cars available for 'identical' parts for a few £ it leaves me wondering if £40 per highly coloured bush for the Supra is reasonable or is it a rip off. The bushes are not available from Toyota, they would rather you buy a new £400 control arm. Has anyone ever used aftermarket Soarer or Lexus fitment bushes in their 'cross over' Supra suspension parts who can share their experience?

Fitting subframe bolts and adjusters can I lubricate them?
rider replied to blythmrk's topic in Supra Chat
My bolts are all zinc coated from running out the molten zinc plugs so they look really shiny but all greased up. They are a tight fit after tapping the threads clean with the bolts so I'm just using the grease to help them in really. They are tight enough nothing will ever shake them loose and I'd imagine coated bolts are going to be a pretty tight fit to. -

rider replied to blythmrk's topic in Supra Chat
I have used copper grease on mine as the zinc comes out and the bolts go in. -
That sounds about right. More bhp generally means more fuel consumed. Maybe your mapper didn't map for economy?

The colour could well explain why it hung around in a showroom for months as human nature being what it is, not many would elect to take the old discontinued silver on a new car over the new silver option.

96 was when the facelift was introduced. The VVTI shortly after (sept 1997 according to the NZ specs site) so it'd be safe to assume the being a 1998 car it has had an engine swap at some point. Logic would suggest an original GE converted to a GTE though you would normally expect any seller to mention this as that does have an impact upon the cars originality. It'd be interesting to know why no VVTi to avoid any speculation.

There are a few greedy sods with 2 Supras. But it could be one Supra and one of something else entirely or just one of something else entirely.
-
Why not just keep this car as it is and buy a 700bhp car as well or instead of your Supra? There are a couple of good high bhp Supras for sale at the moment. You will not increase the value of the car by the cost of conversion and in some cases older conversion singles have sold for below stock car prices. Big singles tend to either get broken for parts or sold abroad so it'd be the path to the end of another UK car on UK roads.
