It might end up in High Wycombe? I'd give a guess with the £8k reserve the seller would have listened to a £10k cheeky and accepted £11k or £12k for a sold as seen. It could be a non driver so that's a fair price to take on the risk and challenge, plus its silver. If it'd been red, white or blue I'd have been over to Cannock myself yesterday with a big bulge in my pocket and a trailer on the car.

Is the market really at £150 for damaged headlights?
-
Could be of interest to someone. PS - the reserve is/was set to below £8k

These cars are old and the plastic clips and loom plugs around the top of the engine are getting very brittle to disintegrate brittle. Maybe there is a problem with the cam position sensor connector? Its all guesswork till you know the fuel is good, spark is good and timing is good.

Things always seemed easier on the old cars, last misfire I had was last year in my MGB which when I popped the bonnet was a lead popped out of the distributor cap. For an old or new car that once ran well to get a misfire its cover the basics and being used to carb tuning and dodgy electrics in older cars leading to poor running its something I've enjoyed solving a few times over the years. You said its over fuelling so I'm assuming you've had that checked with a gas analyser though a misfire can deliver un-burnt fuel down the exhaust pipe. If it were my problem, I'd still want to know that the pump is delivering its designated 250l/hr and delivering the spec pressure and if that's good that the coils are all in good shape with a similar resistance across all of the coils and that they are all within spec. Then at least the simple stuff is checked and you know its a deeper solution that you are seeking which would lead me onto delving into timing and timing sensors. Failing there I'd give up and ask Chris to sort out who lives just up the road.

I'd be looking at the fuel flow and pressure ahead of tagging into the ECU. You might have one of those chinese $10 non Walbro Walbro pumps.

I have an excellent set of 16" Toyota OE wheels with centre caps and two premium tyres with near new tread that I'd let go for £220 collected, or you could arrange a courier and I'd tie them onto a pallet.

I picked up the 3.6 TDV8 L322 on Sunday. The guy I bought it from is a senior mechanic and used to work for a main dealer. He said he bought it cheaply 4 years ago as a non runner with a hydrauliced engine; on oil following a turbo failure. So its had an engine rebuild and new turbos and erg's fitted. I did ask about the auto box and he said he'd changed the oil and filter flast year and also changed the suspension compressor. So, if he wasn't telling a load of lies just about every common fail factor on a L322 should be catered to. I've ordered supplied of oils for the diffs and transfer box that he said he hadn't done so as soon as they come in I'll be putting it up on the ramp and having a good poke around all the suspension parts and checking the auto box oil level and condition while there. I think the L322 will become a classic one day as it was the last of the boxy line of cars. The new ones look great today but probably will not age well as they have become styled in a fashionable way. I've joined the RR forum and made my first post there on obtaining a second working key. Tracking down an auto locksmith up for that wasn't easy but finally got to one in Rowley Regis who sorted me out with two new transponder keys and remote fobs for 25% of the cost I was quoted by the local LR dealer. Have to say when you get past the really light steering its by far the most relaxing a comfortable driver I've ever owned and reasonably quick to boot. If the car proves reliable I can see I could become a total Rangey convert.

If its just the booties leaking then its normal to just replace those. This thread should make useful reading for you.

Looking lovely, full credit to a top restoration. Should have added some underneath shots also seeing thats all been catered to as well as the top has. I've just bought a L322 as a second towing car that I'm picking up this weekend. That'll probably mean I stop stock piling Supra parts and instead get to know all the LR parts people by their first names.

Advice would be to hire professional fitters to do the removal and replacement. I used autoglass, they wouldn't guarantee the job as they could no longer restock the glass so its at your own risk either way. Some US sites still list the screen available for $800 but that doesn't necessarily mean it is available. So you just have to hope the fitters don't break it. There are specialist companies that will manufacture bespoke screens for classic cars so there is always a means to replace broken discontinued glass, not cheaply though.

I've just bought some carburettor parts from amazon.com for my 65 Mustang and what I could buy here for £36 + £5 delivery from a specialist parts place I have coming from the US for $11 + $4.60 shipping with Amazon as the shipper (ie not via a partner). It's also below the duty threshold so no taxes to pay on entry. I'm happy with that, estimated 10 - 14 days delivery. ______________ Probably worth adding i use a business account with Amazon so that may or may not impact shipping rates available.

You might want to read this before ordering from Toyota. -
Pins For block connector -- Heater control unit

This is the sort of thing you want. there are two sizes for pins on the a/c controller so you need to figure out what size you are after. Or try talking to Denso Europe, they do field email enquiries. -

Try female terminal crimp pins. Denso make them, various sizes. -
Dont Whifbitz do metal undertrays specifically for FMIC conversions? Worth having a look as they are reported much more durable than the OE one anyway. Then you can sell your old one if it isn't split, as they always split.

http://www.supraforums.com/forum/showthread.php?485216-Reinstalling-charcoal-canister Its the large black canister with three pipes going into it in the picture on the above link thread. Not uncommon for people to throw the charcoal filter away. The ABS pump should be just in front.
-
Looks like the charcoal canisters have gone that should be up against the firewall on the right of the shot. Cannot see the ABS pump but that might be because its a small largely black picture. Some Supras do have the ABS deleted though.

There is no rubber between the plastic hockey stick trim and the bodywork. If its not fitting as it should then take it off and check the screw inserts haven't been pulled out or dropped in their seating holes or rusted out of their seating holes.

Being off radar in ireland for a while it may be worth putting up a recent cartell report for the car. Does it come with a verifiable history including the cars old UK MOT certificates and service history as not many UK cars average or averaged (many are now dead) a tickle over 2k a year? Without supporting documentation mileage is just a number, any number.

LV or LV Classics? They have different call numbers, the LV Classics is on 0800 316 4862.
-
Not £220 any longer but I raised the agreed value to £28k and LV renewal came in at £340. Didn't shop around this year other than to enquire of Hegerty to add the Supra to my multi-car classic policy already running with them for other cars and they quotes £191 for six months cover; timed to run to next renewal.

I have 4 pre-VVTi Denso packs spare if you want OE fit and spec coils. £100 each + post, last I checked they are £150 each from Toyota and £170 from Whifbitz.

for sale 1996 Supra TT6, 440bhp on stock j-spec, 80,000 miles
rider replied to cheekymonkey's topic in Supra Classifieds
"you’re not getting a blingy single conversion with loads of gauges all over the place!" Some people like that kind of bling There is a mileage discrepancy with the ad to the online MOT records which have the car at 104k miles. GLWS this time around, can't be an easy call after 13 years together. -
Cars just had its annual garage service and they then take it off for the MOT. The MOT tester always notes the car as the prelude to Summer and apparently always comments is it really another year gone by. It came back that the work was noticed and fully appreciated with the tester looking over and chatting about all the underside work more than bothering to test anything (seeing its all new parts he probably figured there would be little point). Cleanest car he'd ever looked at underneath. It feels quite rewarding to have all the hidden work appreciated, even if it's only going to happen once a year. The garage mechanic also mentioned a delivery driver turned up who was all over the car. Someone who had been looking for a TT6 for years but in the end had to opt for a 300ZX as he couldn't find a Supra. The ZX is a good car, just not quite a Supra.
