Oh do give over. The guy had a little offer from an auction bod which I'd venture was probably about 8 grand. It was in aesthetically pretty poor shape and the price suggested was way too high as he sold it for well under anyway. He was happy, maybe others aren't because they maybe missed out on a bargain. I'd rather see Keron buy a car cheap and tidy it up for a happy new buyer than have it stripped. If he makes money out of it, great that's what business is about. Anyone here could have taken the bus to London with a pocket full of change if they wanted it and paid over whatever they would have taken to get the deal.

It doesn't look like a paint match wings to bonnet so I doubt it has had a full respray, just the dents and scrapes taken care of on the bumpers and side panels. Red is one of the hardest colours to match, it would leave me wondering what it looks like under sodium lights at night. Still if its got all the history and MOTs and is as good as claimed underneath then its a very fair price. After all, not many Supras come with an air box, OEM steering wheel, all MOTs and a comprehensive service history?

There has been quite a bit of work done on the bodywork including a replacement mirror. Not sure if it qualifies as a 'club members car' though.

I'll PM you now

Can you confirm if the £200 is just for the air box and filter or does that include all OE ducting and intakes? I'll take it if the latter.

It could be many things from frazzled circuits or capacitors or failed speed converter or a bad connection. Probably not your speed sensor if other electronic glitches came and went. Plenty of background reading for you but they all mean removing the instrument cluster for a look see. http://www.supraforums.com.au/forum/topic/42249-speedo-not-working/ http://www.supraforums.com.au/forum/topic/78015-supra-odometer-not-working/ http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?257337-speedo-not-working http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?318943-speedo-cluster-not-working-help-needed

I use ToWeb as my website design software, it is really the best I've ever tried for ease of use and breadth of features (and I have used some much more expensive software in the past). It's an incredibly cost effective package (PRO pack Euro24.50 with discount) already but they have emailed me a 50% discount coupon which is no use to me as I'm already using the latest version. So if someone is looking for an upgrade or could use a really good web design package PM and I'll send you the single use code. Coupon valid to 26/11. ToWeb site

Time to work on the rest of the underneath of the car. I'll be putting the car up on my ramp in March and replacing a lot of bolts for new and then it'll be off to a garage to fit all the new front suspension arms. I've decided not to do this myself this time as I have other projects on the go. Today I mated up all the new suspension parts with nuts and washers which comprise: Upper and lower control arms Drop links Track ends Lower arm brackets Cam bolts Anti-roll bar, bushes and bush brackets In addition to the suspension parts the O2 sensor is being replaced and a replacement 1st and 2nd cat with a fully intact heat shield will be fitted as the current system 2nd cat shield has been speed hump damaged over the years. The front already has new wheel bearings, new discs, brake pads and dust shields recently fitted so when these components are fitted the underside renewal/refurb will be completed with just an annual on ramp inspection following after that. The final cost will likely run to £9k total for the underside work.

I'll take these. PM payment details pls

Coils have a specified resistance so the easy test to run is to check the resistance of the coils is within spec and then any problem coil should be easily identified.

Depends if you prefer a subscription or a DIY PAYG Sim version. Amazon reviews are a good place to start if you are intending to go for the DIY option with a £20 - £70 budget. There are a lot of good feature no subscription DIY units retailing for not a lot of money and it probably comes down to what you are looking to cover. I live in a no/low crime area so I cannot see the point in hard wiring a tracker into each of my cars preferring instead to have one portable magnetic one that I can place with any car that I might be leaving unattended in a pub, restaurant or supermarket car park while the rest are sitting at home.

It'll be interesting to read a follow up on your claims experience having only recently set up you insurance with Zenith especially if its a knock for knock or your fault claim. They probably poll lowest of insurers on trust pilot so good luck.
-
You can still get the lids, or at least you could recently, for not a lot of money. Without all the ducting and intakes its probably not worth a great deal. I'd guess at around £60 with the filter whereas around £200 - £250 for a complete setup.

For anyone not familiar with the other Supra forums, this is probably the best single page reference resource in the World.

There are plenty of good shots in this thread that can be pulled if 12 don't come forward in time. That'd make for a classy October pic.

You probably have more chance of finding a 20oz gold bar lying in your road gutter. I ran some air box pics past a mate with a 3D printer and he said a Supra air box would be a possibility but it'd cost a lot of money to get all the scanning done. I'm sure there are tons of people running cones who would love to revert back to a box filter, maybe a group funding/buy would be the way probably the only way to go on this.

You should check to see if your browser or bookmarks have been hacked. Easily done by copying and pasting the ip address detailed below into your browser bar and hitting return. If it lands on the FB page with no strange messages then you probably have had a bookmark hack. If it ends up with the same strange message then use the ip address in an alternative browser and see what happens. If its OK in an alternative browser then you'd be best uninstalling and reinstalling your preferred browser. FB ip address is 31.13.90.36

Stating you've owned it since 2006 is a big plus point just there.

Always good to see a Supra restoration in progress, maybe start up a project thread and keep us updated as the project progresses. As someone who has spent way too much money on renewing my car components and a rust bust I share the pain but its a process that'll deliver a great car and a great driving car.

£30k is top top money for a jspec TT6 so probably deserves a much more detailed write up. That's the kind of money that'd land a dealer car with dealer guarantees and warranty, peace of mind is worth a lot on any old car.

The great Sunday pastime for those with too much time. I didn't get around to doing mine yesterday, tackling instead a pinion oil seal on my old MGB. The decline of forums should prod users to harvest all the information they need or are ever likely to need as one day they will disappear when hosting isn't renewed. I've used my time, effectively I think, to pdf file print or copy any threads or technical reference materials from this and other Supra forums that I am ever likely to need and anyone planning long term ownership wouldn't be doing themselves any harm by doing likewise.

There was a thread in 2009 that asked and discussed the levels of membership and seeing that's coming up to 10 years ago may as well post up for the archive the past figures alongside present: 2009 Paid members 1568 Active forum member 2750 Total registered 24k 2018 Paid members ???? Active forum members 780 Total registered 50k Reading around the topic of increasingly inactive forum membership across all subject matters the best guess anyone ever came up with is when the active posting membership falls below 50 individuals you lose critical mass and its time to put the forum to bed as a anything other than a valuable archive reference area for as long as that forum remains hosted.

Car sat for 5 years - My plan / Suggestions welcome
rider replied to Harris25's topic in mkiv Technical
You probably want to add in a timing belt and tensioner and sensible brake overhaul/checks. The wheel bearings could be corroded also after so long standing, particularly if they are the 24 year old type of bearings. You may also want to squirt a little diesel into each cylinder before hand cranking as the rings will be dry after 5 years standing and that would lubricate the rings and bore ready for starter cranking. -
wanted Orange foot well plug from engine side to body
rider replied to SupraTRD_MK4's topic in Parts Wanted
TCB will be very likely able to get you one, it'll probably take a few weeks and be white rather than orange and cost around £25 but if you aren't in a hurry it'll give you a neater loom terminus. PS It'll end up something like this
