  1. I did a free search on my VIN and it came back as nothing known. Seeing my car was exported in 1998 it probably indicates that it is only of any value on cars with a recent history in Japan.
  2. As Crossy says it can be done. It can be done the right way or easily go horribly wrong. Lots of speculative types come on briefly with a tell me what you have got which universally isn't well received and they fade away quickly never to be heard of again. Those who engage with serious questions and a desire to have a look at the car even with those not selling to go over the weak points (of which there are very few) to the good points (of which there are a great many) tend to find what they want with patience and respect for the owners cars even for those they do not in the end purchase. I'd recommend you go read the Crossy give me a car thread from 3 years agao as a pointer to one of the few successful approaches to buying the car they always wanted.
  3. Thankfully, on any 20+ year old car mileage is but a number on a LED display unless it has a fully stamped authentic (believable) service history.
  4. Received this reply from the seller as to why the car has cloth seats. Not sure I've ever heard this before so I have recommended they contact Tyson for a run down on all things UK Supra related. Before people take the piss, remember not everyone is a Supra expert.
  5. Their company website says £25k with offers invited with the eBay ad saying £30k offers invited. I've sent them a message about the cloth seats so hopefully they will amend the ad, and maybe the price expectations? Its only got a bitsy MOT history and is not currently holding a MOT to so its been off the road for a lot of years since records online commenced in 2006. So quite a few things to haggle over.
  6. +44(0)1522538844 or +44(0)7738402040 Offers invited
  7. You learn something new every day, I never realised that the NA cars only utilise the one diff rear bush mounting. These are pretty important bushes as they fight transmission hop on power down or power off and when I did my underside refresh of all the £10k spent on bits and bobs the only parts that really did look like they were past their best were the two rear diff bushes that were rather soft and spongy compared to the new OE ones that replaced them. If people want to stay stock they could probably do worse than hold a spare rear diff bush or two while you can still get them, well you could in 2018.
  8. I find there are periods when the site is offline which would suggest there are some hosting server issues. Maybe the site is on a private host setup with limited bandwidth and really old servers. It is old software, I'm not even sure it's legal these days after the 2019 new data storage regs became law to have login and personal information stored on a non SSL secured site.
  9. I used to advertise here or on other car forums with that specific makes parts first but honestly things tend to sell a lot faster advertised elsewhere and usually for a higher price even after fees are taken into account. The car forum audiences are so small these days and people, myself included, do appreciate or sometimes even expect a bargain on the forum. I find it's easier to link an eBay ad and say any forum buyer can have the price less fees if its a buy it now offering.
  10. The insured value should be the price to buy an equivalent car not the sales value. The former is usually 15-25% higher. Those dealers need a margin too.
  11. I had a problem tightening the nuts with the joint spinning in its socket until I used an impact drive that got it tight enough so it didn't spin and could then be finished off with the torque wrench.
  12. If it is running a 5sp then factor in an additional £6k to buy a V160 box and lower my parts estimate accordingly. You see the V160 boxes advertised mainly available in the US and Japan these days pitched around $10k. Shipping is a real issue (used oil regs on or in automotive components - usually requires an I've been cleaned of all oil contamination certificate), plus the freight costs and import taxes.
  13. Looks like that's been under the sea for a long time. Why scrimp, £258.25 is cheap for a Supra part.
  14. Fixed that part anyway. If the car can be bought for a bit less than the stripped parts could be sold for then its a good buy, otherwise why bother? if all the drive line components are good and the interior and front end are in good shape and the sub frame hasn't been buckled at the rear then the parts would probably be worth retail somewhere around £15k. Rebuilding a smashed car is hard these days as parts like the wheel housing panels are long discontinued so it'd probably be easier to reshell but then you'd lose the valuable UK VIN stampings so whats the point of that? So you'd probably need a shell to cut body parts from and shells in good condition are quite rare. It all comes down to the price as most purchases usually do and then, any written off car will always carry around that distinction unless its sold and exported.
  15. Are you sure it was this part? If it was you should order as many as you can get hold of. Don't forget the 10 clips to.
  16. These were £400 when you could buy them so I'd be looking for a £400 discount off the paint. Your only hope now is probably going to be from the usual breakers.
  17. There are a few aftermarket suppliers or you can go to places like Amayama. Always a few listed on eBay, here is one. There are usually a few eBay offerings for gaiters to.
  18. My 1996 RZ has folding mirrors on both doors
  19. I hold a spare controller (RHD) that was sold on as a fully working unit that I could part with if its needed elsewhere. If you are still looking for a controller PM over an offer.
  20. You must be pleased with your progress on this. If you are getting the full paint then you might want to consider buying a rear spoiler so it can be painted up at the same time as most people do prefer the spoiler there than not and it'd be a useful option to own should you wish to sell the car on at some point. The rear screen out is a critical step as they aren't available new any longer so its fingers crossed while that's being performed and again with the refitting.
  21. If you own a JDM Supra forget trying to sync a replacement fob. The JDM central locking unit comes with two fobs and that is it, you can I believe still buy the under seat unit with two new fobs for a lot of money. At least you could 2 years ago when I checked but I was put off by the price seeing you can buy generic c/l units with fobs for a few £ off eBay. If you had a US and I believe also the Euro spec Supra then the c/l module is located behind the steering column and that unit does have a red button pairing prompt on the box for new fobs.
  22. The earlier 2nd cat has a honeycomb converter matrix that is clearly visible from the exhaust coupling end. The later 2nd cat just has an emptyness, a black hole. They are the same apart from the internals. Part numbers are later 17410-46220 and earlier 17410-46160.
  23. Except the earlier 2nd cat is/was three times the new price of a VVTi cat.
  24. Also don't forget about all the plastic clips for the weather and bonnet strips.
  25. You probably want to add on front and rear badges as well. I bought a full seal kit and been scouring the World for gold badges ready for if/when my car ever gets its first respray. Hopefully everything is still available for you. It's not cheap, think I'm up to £500 in rubber and trinkets sitting on my garage shelf.
