  1. My oil is still on the shelf ready to swap in when I do a pre-MOT ramp inspection but the MOT isn't due until November.
  2. If you are still looking in a couple of months time send me a PM and I'll have a go at knocking a set of clamps up. I just did some hydraulic hose clamps for one of my bits of plant equipment and they look better than the plant equipment does. I'm about to embark on painting my house and as big as a house detached garage exterior which is a undertaking of epic proportions so that's going to keep me occupied for a few weeks of dodging showers.
  3. If you do in the end go the fabricating route the top of the clamp that clasps onto the bush lip is curved to mirror the bush lip. If you wanted the OE look it'd need to have some fine filing or Dremel finishing to reproduce the top lip curve. That curve and correct location of the bolt hole for the clamp to actually work as a clamp would be the I could definitely screw this up now stages. I'd probably drill the hole first and then measure the build from there.
  4. It has to be easy enough to fabricate a couple of clamps from 2mm steel. I'm sure I have some 2mm steel lying around if you want to play.
  5. $4k for headlights is about right seeing Toyota were knocking out the last sets they were distributing for almost $2k. I was looking at rear bumper crash bars, i bought one from Toyota not so long ago for £119. Now listed at Amayama for £500 + VAT + Duty. Its enough to make you want to cry. Everyone should buy the cheapest Supra available as a part car.
  6. Agree with Noz here. I've seen old clearcoat on engine metal and it yellowed, misted and started to craze. Varnish doesn't always seem to hold up well long term on a vibrating surface sat in and around hot bits.
  7. I tackled my car today and didn't, in the end, remove the valve covers as I found all the cover bolts were either really loose, less than finger tight, or not even screwed down. The rear bolts were the ones hanging up the threads and that is the area leaking oil into number 6 plug well. I had my torque wrench set at 6Nm but never got close to clicking before stopping. I couldn't get any sockets into the inner rear bolts so just nipped those down with a 10mm spanner and a lot of patience. I just did finger tight and half a turn so I can go back and tighten to torque another time if I ever visit the plug area again and see any oil leakage. From the time when I changed the plugs, a while back but probably no more than 500 miles ago, there has been only minimal oil seepage as opposed to the collected puddle when I changed the plugs. I also replaced several of the #7 loom clips. I fitted a full set of new OE coils and checked the resistance on the new and old coils. Some of the Philips screws holding the coils where really tight and I used grips to remove those to avoid the prospect of stripping the screw head. All the new coils were 0.73ohms and the old ones, run over 112k miles, ranged from 0.74 to 0.79 which are all in spec. The car fired up fine so all ready for the Spring to take off SORN in April. I've got a front lighting mod to do next on my 65' Mustang next so there is always something to do, but not with the Supra. she's ready to fly.
  8. Your charging voltage is a bit on the low side, it should be pushing up to 14V. It reads to me like you have a tired battery. Lots of chargers have a recondition setting these days that blast it with high current to clean the plates. You could try that, otherwise its just warning you that its fast approaching the time when you will need to replace the battery.
  9. It'd be good to read what you have planned for the car. So many of us now have gone anal with keeping them clean, fettled and pampered that we have forgotten how to drive our garage queens. Its always good to relive our Supra days through fresh eyes to remind us how fortunate we are to actually own such an iconic car.
  10. There is plenty of noise around E10 issues with carburettor cars.
  11. US1.41, in spite of Brexit. Whatever next. There have been large price rises in the USA and Japan over the last 16 months which haven't filtered over here to their full extent, even at $1.41. So there is scope for people to ask £37k for a TT aero or £20k for a NA5. Might be a slow sale day though at those prices.
  12. You hopefully wouldn't, Only if it is broken when it is taken out, or broken whilst sat somewhere in the paint shop, or smashed when it is reinstalled. Removal and storage would be the most at risk stages for the precious car glass. People are asking eye popping numbers for Supra rear screens now. Actually for all glass, seems even door glass is now marketing around the £350 mark. People should stock up on glass whenever possible as I expect there will be a day when an insurer will pay the gold price for it to avoid a large loss payout on a claim. I expect keron has containers full of it horded away. Along with the containers of stock wheels. Unpainted dash panels. ABS sensors. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but foresight also comes in handy sometimes to.
  13. That plastic bonnet is curled up at the light edge on the front. Looks like crap. I'd want aluminium for that price, and a pair of for the interior sunglasses thrown in. I'm sure it'll appeal to someone though.
  14. As an aside to your question most of the glass on the Supra is discontinued so you might want to talk to some breakers first to check they have some glass available and at what cost if you are contemplating a glass out respray. You will likely find that the company removing the glass will not cover the cost of replacement when it is discontinued.
  15. Knowing how weak kneed people seem to go over these there is a set up on fleabay at the moment as an auction listing. Fill your light source! Owwwww - some LED lights
  16. Like hens teeth, but rarer. There is a power fold pair for sale out of Japan for $1k which with the current exchange rate could be a bit of a bargain price. I sometimes think it'd just be better to pay £8k to £10k for an old NA car just to cannibalise for parts. It'd soon pay for itself, especially if it had folding mirrors.
  17. This thread should be more properly be titled RHD rarity as there are rather a lot of LHD aero's supplied, around 10k, so as a model variant its not that rare.
  18. MOT history is available online since 2006, that's 13 years after the online register was launched to the first recorded MOT. To have no record until 2019 when the owner apparently had the vehicle to specifically not use it for over 20 years is highly unusual. There was a RHD red aerotop listed for sale in Spain a couple of years back for £15k and genuine factory original TT aeros are rare. I'd want a forensic look at the V5 and if its not still showing the 20 year owner and a purchase date in the early 90's then you can be pretty sure its a full of baloney ad. From there you can form your opinion on the mileage claim that is apparently backed by absolutely no evidence. Why would anyone put mature owner, +20 years ownership into an ad. I'm a mature owner with 20+ years with my Supra but 20+ years ago I wasn't quite as mature. That is just a strange thing to throw in there.

    Misfire

Quick search on youtube for sticking injector

    Misfire

With the sudden nature of the fault and the presence of a spark I'd be running with a faulty injector that has split or stuck open.

    Misfire

Well, if you have confirmed a spark then there is a good chance you have a leaking injector flooding the cylinder and causing the misfire. There is no easy way to get to test that so its socket time. Just as well its the weekend. You could try an injector cleaner in the fuel feed as an outside chance of saving you the strip down time which may work if the injector is just stuck/sticking.

    Misfire

I'd do a simple swap of the spark plug and coil to see if the fault moves. You can check the coil resistance is in spec if you have standard coils. supra ignition.pdf
  23. Looks like his old threads were pulled when he asked to be pulled. Shame as they detailed a lot of the work that was done on the car after it arrived from Northern Ireland.
  24. By standard do you mean OE Toyota or any bog standard radio head unit that you can buy new anywhere for around £10.
  25. Reasonable price 86120-20740 on FB with the £:$ exchange currently 1.38, though missing L/R support cage. I expect the seller will be open to offers since its been posted that its a RHD JDM unit, LHD USA models have a mirror image facia. I'm tempted, but not quite tempted enough.
