You'll see BTC wiped out in but a few years. The enviro crowd will force that and the National Governments will say thank you and be only to happy to kill it. With National reserves touted as evolving into crypto currency speculators themselves 'investors' will finally have access to crypto currencies that will have a foundation of Mr and Mrs tax payer and be a safe haven for investors leaving the unregulated crypto currencies to become a harassed increasingly enforced space catering almost exclusively to the criminal fraternity at the fringes of legality.

You can measure your filament to filament distance, take some pictures and appeal the fail decision to the DVLA if it should clearly have been a pass. No one can argue against a ruler measurement compared to the 1989 regulations. You can even seek action against the MOT testing station. Its all outlined on the gov website though rules may be a little different in NI.

Auction prices are usually 20% below market for routine current production cars but you cannot read that across to rare or desirable cars where often auction prices set the market price as people know if they win they have the car so are motivated to bid high just to secure the thing. I reckon a rule of thumb is take the prices at the beginning of this thread and add 30% and that'll get people close to where things sit today to take on and pitch for insurance cover. The Brightwells car wasn't the best example. Parked up for years so no history to speak of. No unbroken series of MOT certificates in its history file. No timed service maintenance undertaken on cambelts and the like. Plus the little touches like odd rear lights, a flag badge potentially covering a bumper hole and the dash panels were quite scuffed. So I'd venture that the final price of £28.5k is a pretty good to strong price. It went for what I expected it to go for, just under £25k plus fees. If its gone to an investor they could easily spend £10k getting it to where it could go but it'd still be a car that is very short on history and manufacturer specified maintenance. PS - By beginning of the thread I was referring to the 2020 values thread.

The Supra TT Auto sold at Brighwells car auction on 17/5 for £28.5k inclusive of buyers premium, indemnity insurance and VAT.

The lenses must be 4" and then there is a 1/2" gap between the lenses so middle to middle is going to be quite a bit more than 100mm. I can see people running LED Heckler style rears would have issues as they tend to have lights running around the outer of the lens so they probably only have 50mm between light sources and would be contravening the letter of the law.
-
There is in the 1989 statute no requirement on the wattage just the it must be a red light and 100mm from any other light source. That is it. So unless the statute has been updated by the NI legislature then its all bollocks as there is no reason why they would not pass the MOT in England. If you read the government link I listed that details all requirements for fog lights under uk law which these days sometimes only means England and Wales.
-
The 1989 regs on fog lights do state there must be 100mm between lights which I assume the Supra lights meet as the UK spec cars have the same light clusters just with lenses in a different orientation. My jspec has one of the brake lights converted to the rear fog lights and it's passed every MOT like that since 1999. Time to get your ruler out and measure between the filaments which would be the centre of the bulb socket to the centre of the next bulb socket. That has to be more than 100mm otherwise UK spec Supras don't meet the regs.

Any ideas how much these bits are worth? Radio & CD Player from a 94 JDM TT
rider replied to JordanC's topic in Supra Chat
There is the slight problem with Japanese equipment for the domestic Japanese market in that they operate a very limited FM band range of frequencies, 76-95 MHz. So, they are really only useable with a wave band expander with the display then showing no relation to the actual frequency selected. You'd have to be a total stock fanatic to want a JDM radio in the UK so it's hard to pin a value on something that would be ornamental rather than functional. -
Thinking of a full respray - windows out / undercarriage treatment
rider replied to SUPRA4EVA's topic in Supra Chat
This future proofing is a labour of love idiocy as far as a worthwhile investment is concerned. I'd recommend that you only even consider it if you are planning on keeping the car for a long time as I reckon for every £10 you plough in you might, if invested wisely, add £2 to the cars value. I've spent £11k on my underside and to be fair, it does look quite nice. I could spend another £6k on a respray and for sure that'd look nice too. I even treated it to a new lighter and climate control buttons. I've refurbished a leather three spoke steering wheel that's ready to fit and have a set of 17" OEM wheels ready to de-rubber and refurbish. I've got all new Toyota water hoses and fuel lines and brake lines to fit whenever. All new screen and door rubbers sitting on my shelves ready for a respray one day. The biggest question with future proofing is where do you stop and when do you stop, how much money are you going to spend along the way? I'm about £20k into the future proofing lifestyle and that's before costing in for a respray. Its all a bit foolish throwing this kind of money around on a Supra and something I've only done because money doesn't particularly bother me and after 23 years together I've kind of got used to having the old girl around. Another word of advice is I started my future proofing lifestyle with a thought on keeping it to a £5k budget, so whatever you are thinking probably best double it, treble it and add a bit more.- 1 reply

Faded rear trunk privacy cover/blind...or whatever it's called

A quick and light blow over with Holts black matt paint will restore the colour. That's what the trade use for parcel shelves and carpets in need of a bit of blackness. -
It's back up to buyers cost £21.500 with 3 days to go (£18/5k bid price). Looks like the days of the £15k TT auto are somewhat behind us. Though Boosted probably looked over at least 10 of those last week.

I bought one of these fast wireless chargers for my RR. Fits into vents or suckers onto the window. Happy with it and the way it grabs the phone is neat. It has charging adapters for earlier phones that don't support wireless charging. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08NCYR4K4/

Or shill bidding going on.

The entire auction got pulled for whatever reason so all cars are being restarted.

Latest Supra auction ending in 6 hours presently at £15.5k + 12% buyers premium + 20% VAT on the premium + Indemnity Insurance (min £120) + VAT on Indemnity Insurance.

Ah right - good call. You'll find out from your pin test if its one of the ABS sensors failed. Not as big an issues as it used to be as one member mentioned he can get sensors for £60. I cannot recall his member name though, maybe someone can remind us. Failing that it's probably going to be the ABS ECU. Keeping the forum alive!
-
If it is the ABS sensor I did read somewhere that you can get those for £60 off a forum member but that thread has gone. That'd be much better than partting around finding an ECU repair place or a replacement ECU.
-
There are a ton of threads on this around the Supra forum World so if you google it then you'll find those easily. Invariably comes down to ABS sensor or the ECU.

These disappeared for a few months but now there are some US sites showing limited stock so anyone looking probably needs to think about moving on the opening. The retail pricing seems to have taken a major hike, listings for just under US$300. When I bought my spare condenser in 2017 it was US$68. Just a bit of your usual Supra inflation going on.

You make a very good and impassioned case for the status quo. How is that working out? Direction of travel? Interaction levels? Ghost mode?
-
I have one of these sitting in my glovebox. its so old now I was wondering if I should move it into my flame proof cabinet. These were provided with all Japanese domestic sales cars so you used to see a lot on eBay sites or Yahoo.jp and they seemed to fetch around £30 - £40. Of course, that translates in Supra World to about £3,000 each.
-
You might want to sign up to the forum, only cost £10. Then I'm sure you'll receive lots of detailed and accurate advice to a rather ill defined question. You haven't even stated what the transmission is and you might want to say why its taken you 20 years to drop by. Failing that there could be a great deal of suspicion as we have had traders saying what's this worth in the recent past as a purely fishing exercise.
-
That was a bit unusual and you'd, well I'd imagine a bit demotivational for those who did step out of the shadows to volunteer their services freely to then not even be told why it turned into a false prospectus. Or maybe some were told away from the gaze of the forum, I like the sound of this ghost mode - its a creeping reality.

There probably is a Mod slot or two available unless they need to be numbers rationalised. Gaz hasn't posted this year, last motivated to add content in November. The site is just about into its slumber stage with sometimes what seems like only half a dozen members writing a day. I think we will get to see the first completely silent day sometime this year and once people stop checking in on the recent activity, because there hasn't been any, then the cobwebs will quickly gather. If the mods don't find they have much worthwhile contributing then its not really surprising that very few others are bothering. Maybe we should ask Shane how his Ace Cafe appeal went down, I'm sure the events mods were all over it working to keep a long standing group activity alive. Are there even any events mods these days? Who knows, who cares?
