  1. I wouldn't put a cheap charger cable onto an expensive phone in case the power output is not correct for the appliance. I prefer to use a wireless charger on my Samsung phone. Brilliant piece of kit with motorised arms to grab any size phone so it couples as a cradle, particularly useful when you are using the maps function. These clip onto your air vents or failing that (you'd have issues with say a Supra) sucker onto the screen. I wouldn't want my phone suckered though as its heavy and suckers tend to give way at any moment, though more usually in hot weather. These chargers cost from low £ twenties up. PS - the picture is for reference an not the actual unit I own so I wouldn't know if this particular make/model has motorised arms. Also if you aren't in a hurry you'd be able to get them cheaper direct from Chinese suppliers via Ali-express over say Amazon or eBay in the UK.
  2. When I had my car professionally suspension fine tuned they said the specs on the Supra were 15mm gap tyre to arch on Toyota Billsteins and 25mm gap on the standard setup. I'd be wondering how much changing the rake on the car would affect the weight distribution away from the near as damn it 50:50. I'm sure Whifbitz will be able to tell you.
  3. The more efficient way to keep a hot spot going would be a burning log or two. I've done them many times for parties and weddings and a good size log, something about 12" to 18" wide and up to 3 foot tall, will burn away nicely for many hours on a still evening. If its windy they do burn faster as any fire will. I have about 20T of seasoned cord wood ready to cut and about 5T of cut logs if anyone local to me (central Shropshire) who is going would like to grab a Supra boot full for free. If you like to look of the burning log then I'll show you how to prepare them which means you have to be OK with handling and using a fairly large chainsaw and be prepared to have a large log sat across your back seat. The burning log would need some notice as I'd need to fit the log grab onto my digger that is currently sporting an auger to dig post holes. Or there is the ready split logs sitting there ready to take away. To set a burning log alight, you either need a spot of diesel fuel or a firelighter. Those supermarket bags are just wildly expensive for what they are, it pains me when I see people buying those.
  4. We had a pushchair in the 90's with an unclip seat that would double as a back facing car seat with the belt clipped around the back; so all my babies were picked up from hospital at 1 or 2 days old in a MkIII Supra. Sometimes, the internet is your friend. This article may help you out?
  5. From what it reads like, Billsteins for the Supra haven't been readily available for a while now. It'll probably be like the ever elusive Denso condensers, out of stock for well over a year to then reappear to go on to be out of stock again within days. Its a few days opening over a few years timeframe. Which means, you have to be ready every day to pounce, that requires dedication unless you can log stock notifications on sellers sites. I find with many of those they automatically drop the pre-notification after 3 months. Supra OE or pattern parts are like little golden nuggets, occasionally you see one glisten in the distance to find out it was just a mirage and even rarer, you'll manage to dig one up.
  6. An update on this. I have been bouncing emails with the Aussie gent who supplied the plug and play module and fobs that feature in the video. This option isn't cheap, he has mentioned A$270 for the unit and one fob or a$440 for the unit and two fobs. So, although this is an option people would need to weight up the plug and play advantage cost over say a £15 unit from eBay that would have to be spliced into the factory wiring. I asked if he would be interested in supplying units to the UK and if he is I'll post up the contact information here so anyone interested can contact the person direct. He isn't quick at responding to emails but he does say that he always gets there in the end.
  7. Don't Toyota have any of their branded Billsteins any longer? I bought a set of those, from Toyota, only a few years ago. It was the springs to go with the Billsteins that I couldn't get hold of. Hence why I bough up a set second hand, primarily for the springs that do still have their factory coloured paint marks on.
  8. OE springs have not been available for at least 5 years. I bought a second hand, low mileage (aren't they always) set to hold as spares in 2017 as they weren't any longer available through Toyota or other distributors of Toyota products.

    Tax question

A car would count as a taxable gift but whenever I have had to allocate a value for tax purposes, and it has always been accepted, I use we buy any car. For the Supra, the IH tax asset value is £220.

    Tax question

The government website explains things quite clearly so its worth a visit. https://www.gov.uk/inheritance-tax/gifts and

    Tax question

Another aspect on gifts is if you miss a year then you can carry forward that years allowance. So if you gifted nadah last tax year, you can do a double dose this tax year.

    Tax question

The limit is £3k per year total, for all gifts. That could be £3k a person if its only one gift but if say you have two children then it'd be £1.5k each per year. I have two children so I gift them £1.5k each a year. Inheritance tax only kicks in after the threshold is reached and with married couples where the estate passes from one to the other then on the survivors death there is a double IH allowance on any residual estate. So if you are married, you need a pretty large estate or a flat in London before you need to be concerned with IH tax. For property upgrades or purchases then we have well funded family trusts set up that pay for houses or upgrades as a interest free loan on the never never, only redeemed when the property is sold or the person dies.
  13. You can get internal hissing on the evaporator side as the liquid refrigerant vaporises past the expansion valve into the evaporator. That can be an indicator of low refrigerant levels.
  14. It doesn't look like 200 mile tread. I'd eyeball that tread at around 5mm, maybe 6mm. Be useful to do a tread depth to demonstrate the new 7mm. I tend to use Camskill for bare tyres and they are £120 per 91W tyre, cheaper still for the SUV 95W variant. These are the higher load index SUV tyres. Thinking on, the likely reason you paid more than people recon for the tyre is they are Y speed rated which no normal Supra would need; W is just fine.
  15. The thermostat doesn't control the operating temperature, just the temperature at which the thermostat allows water to flow. If you remove a thermostat completely, the engine will just take longer to warm up. If you are questioning the reading then you should look to the sender unit at the base of the radiator or the gauge reading to confirm the current reading is accurate.
  16. If you have a behind the dash hiss then you need to get hold of a 'sniffer' and remove the glove boxes and go sniffing to see if you have a failed union or failed evaporator core. You can change the valve or evaporator in a couple of hours according to some reading on an Aussie Supra forum. You need to remove the charcoal setup engine side to access the firewall evaporator mounting bolts. According to the Aussie blokes replacing things behind the dash is about a 2 hour job so you have a guide to work with on with any quote the a/c shop gives.
  17. There must be a nice NA or NA aero somewhere that isn't white or black or lexus blue. With the skyward prices on the turbo cars these days the public would probably really appreciate being able to talk to an enthusiastic NA owner on stand.
  18. I haven't had a any emails responded to by TCB since 2020, I have spent a ton of money there. I gave up after three separate email enquiries went ignored. I gave up on Steve Manley after three separate enquiries went ignored, I have spent more than a ton of money there. I'll give up on any supplier after three requests get ignored.
  19. Nice repairs. I've done some fresh plate into my 1965 Mustang which I was quite please how it turned out seeing I'm a NVQ Level 1 welder. The good thing is with metal, as we see in the many restoration programmes on TV, if the VIN plate is intact anything else can be fabricated around it to make it as good or better than when it left the factory.
  20. I found Steve was getting harder to track down around 2018, probably as parts became increasingly discontinued. Lets face it who wants to waste time chasing non existent parts. It's not just Steve, other suppliers I've bought £thousands of parts from in 2016/17 now ignore my email request for pricing and availability. So, I just negotiated a trade discount with my local Toyota dealer and buy my parts through them or from US official Toyota dealers like McGeorge.
  21. Everyone should familiarise themselves with their policy small print. Another common disclaimer is if the car is stolen within 500m of your home then it won't be covered. So if you have a local shop, or pub or friend you happen to stop at within 500m of your home then your car won't be covered.
  22. For ECU upgrades there are a couple of names I hear bandied around; Link and Motec. It'd be useful for those considering an 'upgrade' to have some feedback on these ECU's in a Supra and access to any comparative data/information. If you go to SRD I believe you go Link.
  23. Unfortunately, the ECU that Matt kindly donated shows the same issue as my ECU. So, if anyone has a Jspec TT6 with a functioning trac control who would be willing to lend me their ECU to plug and test in my car that would be phenomenal. It'd let me rule in or out the ECU as the problem. In the meantime, I've just unplugged the ECU to kill the traction control and extinguish the flashing dash trac off light. I replaced the primary TPS with a new one so that has been ruled out.
