  1. Bigger brakes do not stop a car an appreciable distance shorter than smaller brakes. They do dissipate heat more efficiently so reduce fade on repeat use. So in a street scenario of emergency stop bigger or smaller brakes - essentially no difference. If on a track, bigger brakes means better braking due to less heat fade. For stopping, pad material, tyre compound and tyre width are much much much more influential than brake disc size or number of pots.

    FMIC or SMIC

The SMIC's from CW of GW are good for well over 500bhp and no mods needed. I fitted the GW one, its larger than stock but a direct replacement. I even notice a better throttle response. Don't know it that was down to the relative size of intercooler or just that the original one had fins that crumbled to dust if touched. So unless you are running over 600bhp is there any point to changing the ducting to accommodate a fmic?
  3. Its a bit more than £300 a side for the jspec ones these days (I got quoted £260 each FOB Japan recently). its a hub off job to swap these out and with good quality bearings around £60 each why wouldn't you want to change those and the hand brake shoes at the same time? Can't see the point in notch cutting the fronts either, another opportunity for hub off bearing change. If the dust shields have corroded beyond recognition chances are the bearings could well be hitting their end of life also.
  4. Whatever the VIN plate says.
  5. Its all underneath back end stuff: Fuel tank guard (long delays), support straps and bolts (UK) Exhaust hanger (long delays), heat shield and bushes (Japan) Sub frame bushing (USA)
  6. I have orders running with 3 suppliers at the moment, one Toyota UK (Inchcape Oxford), one with Amayama (japan) and one with Toyota online parts in the USA. All have parts on back order with delays reported from likely to be 3 weeks to 3 months. This is the second order I have placed with Amayama where they are threatening to short ship with naturally, the key part that spurred the order and one they charge for but then cannot source. Amayama has turned into a bit of a lottery as padded orders to spread shipping costs are increasingly likely to yield just the padding like bolts to attach the part that is no longer available.
  7. Amongst a many things not already mentioned it could be diff hop due to knackered rear sub frame bushes.

    My new Supra

Have you checked the brake fluid and oil levels?
  9. Might be Toyosports rather than Toyo radiator company limited. Toyosports do a lot of the cheap eBay kits.
  10. I thought in the good old days a metal ruler was the alignment tool of choice. Could be worth the OP sending a PM to Jackyboi who was seeing a HKS duel alignment tool last November so probably now has the required tool lying around idle. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?338202-Clutch-alignment-tool-for-V160

    Blitz exhausts

I did put an ad in the wanted asking if anyone had one they wanted to lose. Clean it up and send over the pics or do an ad as there may be more than just me potentially interested?
  12. If its an OEM one you want someone reported recently these are still available from Toyota.

    Blitz exhausts

By the time duty and VAT are added that price is above what Fenton are currently quoting.

    Blitz exhausts

They do have different Blitz part numbers.

    Blitz exhausts

That seemed to be in the development stage. Has anyone got one yet?

    Blitz exhausts

Nope - steered me towards their own exhaust.
  17. Been talking with a few suppliers over the last couple of days about getting hold of a TT Blitz Nur R exhaust. None in the UK and the next UK distributor (Fenton) container isn't leaving Japan until September. So its end of year for any availability which does cause issues with pre payment on credit cards that carry 90 day protection. It seems from talking with a couple of Blitz dealers in Japan that the NA and MkIII Supra exhausts are discontinued but there is still stock working through on those. So anyone with a NA or MkIII with a specific hankering for a Blitz exhaust maybe needs to check things for themselves and possibly grab one if or while you can. Info was that the TT exhausts will carry on, for at least a while anyway.
  18. I'm about to put an order in for a catback TT Nur Spec R exhaust, before I do thought I'd just check to see if anyone has one sitting around looking for a new home? For anyone considering the Blitz exhaust themselves stock news is there are none available in the UK and the next shipment in of Blitz parts wont be leaving Japan until September. So its probably best to go for one of the Japanese suppiers if needed before then. I'm OK time wise myself as I'm just getting a lot of parts ready for an underneath new for old blitz next May while Toyota still have most of the parts I'm after. Also on Blitz exhausts looks like the NA and MkIII ones are or are about to be discontinued. The TT versions are reported to be OK for now.
  19. There is, or there was last night anyway, a silver spoiler on eBay for £99.
  20. It is purely for weight, I had the rear hanger rubbers fail once and that resulted in the entire weight of the exhaust riding on the manifold coupling and centre bush. Such that there is a sizable gap now between the bumper and the tailpipe that wasn't there before the bush failure. A light exhaust would put less strain on the rubber mounts which lets face it with stainless exhausts these days perish way before the exhausts expire.
  21. Does anyone know how the durability of titanium exhausts fares compared to your more usual stainless ones. Lots of speed humps around here so any exhaust will be scraped. Is the titanium as durable to bangs and scrapes as a stainless exhaust? I'm replacing a lot of rear end parts with new Toyota sourced while these parts are still available and that requires a new catback exhaust; so do I go Nur R or Whifbitz Ti 3"? One is £700 the other £1,000.
  22. When I bought my Supra in 1999 I also considered the 300ZX as an equivalent. That's how it was back then. Both cars in production but the 300ZX was more of a wide bodied cruiser and nearing the end of its production run. The 300ZX was more styled to that early 80's clear lines Filofax era which made it appealing that has also dated it (akin in many ways to the Supra MkIII body style) relative to the curvaceous MkIV Supra body which still, today, looks almost current apart from a lack of running LEDs. When I think back 20 years ago, it wasn't a clear choice that to most it appears to be today. However, I am certain if I had bought a 300ZX in 1999, I wouldn't still own it today.
  23. For cheap asses like me who don't buy this mag, there is a download pdf copy available online. http://pdf-magazine.org/modern-classics-magazine-june-2017.html
