My old Evo 4 was pretty close to standard and i slapped lamboyello's BPU from a standing start. Once we hit 80 i didnt stand a chance, they just dont have the legs. If his is tuned to that degree though, i wouldnt expect you'd start gaining until after 100mph.

Lol thanks Greeny I don't agree with you though, i think i'm quite right to expect the cost to be split. If i parked the car there in gear with the handbrake off, chucked him the keys and told him to start the car so i could listen to it idle do you think it would be reasonable for him to pay the whole cost just because it was him who turned the key? -
Testing New Prototype 4" Exhaust (new video added with Boost)
SupraDan24 replied to JamieP's topic in Supra Chat
Sounds good on your car J but tbf so will most exhausts. I reserve judgement for hearing it on a stock/BPU TT, i'm sure it will sound good though -
Your doing a cracking job Brits

I second this Simon and very good post Tubby. I know its a pain and a chore to do it fella, but think about what may happen to the next guy they do something like this for. Your car was unsafe, period. I'd go pay them a visit if it were me and tell them you are contacting trading standards, see if they offer you any money back. If they do, take it then contact trading standards anyway. Why should you have to suffer for their laziness and quite frankly poor workmanship.

Maybe i'm just too close to the whole thing but, especially at the time, didnt believe it was my fault. I literally slipped into the driver seat and turned the key like he asked me too. It didnt even occur to me that he would leave it right up against a wall in gear, especially not with at least putting the handbrake on. All i did was turn the key at the end of the day. I suppose you could argue that it was the turning of the key that did the damage, which i totally agree with. I wouldnt have been happy if he would have just said, sorry its your fault, your problem though to be perfectly honest, as it was the the circumstances in there entirety that led to the damage imo, not just the turn of a key. I'm glad it is going to be sorted though and that he was good about it, just hope it doesnt end up costing me too much, i've just bought 4 new tyres for the Supra and paid a £400 bill for the mini lol. -

Lol yeah it was pretty decent of him to suggest it straight off the bat, but tbf i wasn't going to be walking out of there without any less as all i had done was turn the key. It's just one of those unfortunate circumstances where you either agree to disagree and get on with fixing it, or argue your points until your both blue in the face and hate each other. I've just paid him £400 for the work he has already done, so i didnt fancy another substantial bill for something that i didnt see as my fault, so i was relieved once we'd discussed it and he agreed to not charge me labour. I have to go through all the finer details with him on thursday and find out exactly what he is willing to waver cost wise, i'm happy enough to pay any material costs so he isnt out of pocket so to speak. With any luck (something i'm serverley lacking) it should come back to me better than when it arrived so here's hoping i guess. He was also nice enough to rewire the electric fan into the switch i had free of charge, as it was annoying him that it was wired into the ignition. It was doing my head in as well, hence the switch lol. I'm going to take some photos -

I decided to let a specialist have a go at it in the end, as i was having no luck with. After 3 weeks he handed the keys back to me and it was running good as new. There was various issues with it which i wont bore you with, the main one being it needing a new vaccum advance unit and the carb getting no vaccum. I got him to stick a new coil on it at the same time for good measures as the old one was looking very tatty. Annnnyway, i digress, so there i am standing next to my pride and joy beaming and the guy says to me "Start her up and see how she runs :d", so i hop in the drivers seat and switch on the ignition. Thats where it all went horribly wrong He'd left the car in gear and the handbrake off with some big metal paint tins right infront of the car up against the wall of the barn. The car stalled forward and without the handbrake to stop it the car almost went through the front of the barn. The tins did the rest of the work The bumper bar squashed the can easily, but unfortunately the tins had their lids on, so the tops were substantially stronger than the middle. The end result was the front wing was caved right in, my nice shiny grill is now scrap, the headlight was pushed out, the indicator was smashed and is now not working and there's a fair bit of paint damage. I was gutted to say the least, so was the guy as he thought i'd damaged his barn wall....never fear, it was okay. The guys on the other side of the wall (it's the typical woodern wall btw) were a bit shook up as the whole wall suddenly leapt out at them trying to get hold of their tea and biscuits. After a small rant from me, i walked away and calmed down and we talked the whole thing out. The blame was split as, even though he parked it 6inches away from his wall, left the car in gear with the handbrake off, it was me who actually turned the key so we were both at fault. The car will going back to him on Thursday and he will carry out the work of knocking the dent out, applying the filler then respraying the whole front end including the black bonnet i had just bought from him lol. I told him i was happy to pay for any materials ie paint, filler etc that he was going to use, but i didnt want to pay for the labour involved in sorting the dent which he has conceded too. He's only going to charge me £150 for spraying the whole front end which is a good price so i was happy to accept that offer. Overall i'm a bit gutted it has happened, but i'm happy that i'm dealing with a decent guy who is willing to help me sort the problem rather than wiping his hands clean of it.
