Right I'm back, some serious comments posted!! But as per usual everyone just blabbing on like they know it all, still no factual data. Regardless, guys and girls, the car has now gone! I'm now the proud owner of an S Class Mercedes.
-
You sound like Obama! "barmin mad" I tell ya. Too many Chiefs and not enough Indians! Practical data required and she's yours! In theory we are told that we're out of recession but does it really feel like it on the streets? No
-
The car will be gone in one and a half weeks so please be quick guys: Data, Data, Data, Data, I need data or you will be exterminated
-
Only because I have to. Now where is the "data" Please post and take the Supra!
-
A Facebook like for that
-
Is that the best you got? lmao
-
BTW here's a link to let you know what's up for grabs Bad Boy Supra (without air con mod!)
-
This thread has really got everyone going

Please read again and take your time to digest what I said and within which context I said it. 1/ Power intake charge temp is paramount to the power - Yes. However, as per your quote "although an FMIC is more efficient and will cool the air better it's not really required at the sort of power levels that you are looking to run" You have misunderstood what I meant here. Here, I'm merely stating FMIC to emphasize the importance/benefit of lower air intake temps. The second time I mentioned the FMIC is just stating fact - you don't really need a FMIC until you're pushing 400bhp+ as the Japs have made a great standard inter-cooler which is good for 400bhp Sorry if I somehow confused you. I love the thought of being able to increase bhp by lowering the air temperature without "edit" massive costs . Aside - according to physics this idea "will work" My car is still up for grabs 2/ If you kept in mind the "whole thread" you will have already realized this scenario has already been discussed (a shut-off valve). End result - please read thread again and try me for round 2 ding ding

Please Scott, elaborate

The simple fact remains as per initial thread guys......... Those of you who have had the pleasure, displeasure of driving the Supra TT in summer will no doubt realise the crappy response and the sheer lack of adrenaline rush compared to winter response. And, if you're a technically minded person, you'll know the dreadful consequence of high intake temps under high boost.... Personally, I've had 5 TT Supra's in the past, 2 with air con and 3 without. Yes, if removed, the car will be lighter but come on how faster is losing a few kilos really going to be?? Just take the spare out and visit the loo before you drive ya car, that should off-set it lol Fact, cooler intake charge temp increases bhp noticeably, just see the diff between winter and summer driving. This is why most people go for the FMIC. The mod, which I now have global rights on , will without a shadow of a doubt work. "I will give my Supra away if anyone can prove me wrong" The FMIC coolers which peeps carry on about are only good for those of us who have 400+ bhp at the wheel otherwise the stock cooler is more than sufficient. The Japs are very clever people ;) No-one really uses the max bhp on a daily basis anyway. But this mod will make the 3000 rpm + rev ranges awesome. Any takers for my car? lol

Couldn't agree with you more. However, I don't think dyno would be necessary as you would definitely "Feel" the difference when it wakes up. But yes dyno would be beneficial for the "data" back up
-
My car is up for sale so cannot try it on her I think apart from the tricky pipework to the engine bay it's a breeze. After taking into account the comments I would definitely attach the pipe to the standard airbox system but have the pipe coming into the airbox at a 45 degree angle (from back of car) so as to avoid "over-sucking" (just this once lol) from the air con system. Agree, without data it's pointless, but i would put my last dollar on it that it will make a HUGE DIFFERENCE.
-
You mean NO2??! Surely only joking. Yes it would be for sure
-
No way! My air con throws out really, really cold air (topped every year), ditching 15-20 kg of an aircon system which would make driving a supra a pleasure in summer is no comparison. It's a myth, only at low mph's it would affect bhp, but we're talking pedal to the metal baby lol
-
Trust me with a few minor tweaks it's an awesome idea. Obviously the ac on it's own wont be sufficient!! No way. However it will make driving in summer so much more fun that's a 100% surety
-
Crazy thread lol I can't keep up
-
No much, I was doing 140 today with air con on, kick down at 110 and the car was eating up the road. At low speeds I agree there would be a marginal difference but not at high speeds when the sheer momentum of the car would just take over - - - Updated - - - lol - - - Updated - - - Obama said Guantanamo would close down, but has it?
-
True
-
I need to get it copyrighted lol

Right then, with the high temperatures lately, the supra turbo system is no-where near as great compared to cold temps (dense air). And the great dense air is usually available when the roads are unsafe or it's unsafe to travel at high speeds. That said, we don't get the best pleasure from performance when the car wants to. I had a great idea, some may choose to differ but give me a second guys.. If a custom pipe was made and a feed taken from one of the 2 drivers vents (behind the dash of course) and then channeled through along the inner wing and pointed at the air intake filter, surely that would give a fantastic response even in high temps? yes? Just crank up the air con and pedal to the floor! For those of you critics you could add a shut off valve so hot air is not channeled through during winter when the warm heater is required Crazy but a fantastic idea mi thinks! Any feedback or comments please We all know what the Supra is like when the air is nice and dense! what a cool feature to add some cheap but awesome bhp during summer

As I suspected the Clifford alarm was malfunctioning! Despite disarming the car the cut-off feed for the starter was still active i.e still armed. My mate by-passed the whole alarm and presto!! It cranked over HAPPY DAYS! The weird hissing noise while ignition was on was due to the car thinking it's in full operation mode but the starter was not cranking because of the alarm. 1/ Hissing gone. 2/ Car is working fine 3/ New Clifford going on today :-)
-
Car is now back in the garage, where is has been for past few weeks for spray job. I've got a Clifford alarm specialist coming out to by-pass the alarm and see if it cranks over, once that's been eliminated and the car starts, happy days! if it doesn't work then it's pointing to some other problem. I think I have 2 issues (or possibly more) 1/ alarm prob and 2/ central locking prob. With my alarm not being the standard Toyota alarm I cannot see how that thread will work. Clifford alarms are good but very different to the usual standard Toyota stuff. Thanks for the heads up though :-) I'm still concerned about the weird hissing noise coming from the inlet port area, but only when ignition is on. I have a sneaky feeling the continuous noise is the fuel being pumped into the fuel rail and back to the tank, for some reason the fuel pressure regulator is not shutting off after a few secs but that's hopefully something linked to alarm not allowing starter to crank over.....

Just to keep thread updated: AA been out said he suspects the alarm immob is faulty?! even though the led in dash goes out and I've apparantly disarmed it....He carried out some tests and said ecu is sending signal to throttle body but there is no current being drawn from the battery while key is fully turned - hence his observation that it could be down to a faulty immob. A point he also said was cliffords are notorious for going pete tong if the siren is not working, mines been off since I purchased the car. So fingers crossed.... Just waiting for flat bed to come and tow to garage..
