  1. I'm referring to steady state boost, not peak readings in my post above. As Ian says, Peak readings are often far higher as its more sensitive to fluctuations/spikes than most other devices. The higher the boost you run the more exaggerated these peak spikes are, again in my experience! Rgds Nito
  2. In my experience the Defi boost gauge always over reads by (10kpa)or 0.1bar. I've compared the Defi meters to lots of other devices, map sensors on ecu's etc and they always consistently over read by 0.1 bar. I always tended to trust the HKS EVC I used as opposed to the Defi meter for setting boost etc although the meter is good for warnings but bear in mind that it is over reading slightly. Regards Nito
  3. I had an R34 GTR V Spec II Nur, I prefer the Supra Nuff said!

  5. I need to find a suitable donor aerotop at the right price first! So you bought that crazy Trial Supra did you (avatar pic)? I have some good pics of that, considered buying it from Japan when it came up for sale!! Cheers Nito
  6. Thanks Guys, So Jim, the loom that goes through the bulkhead is essentially the same is it? So the TT loom for the engine would just need one of the fuse box plugs changing. What if I used a TT fusebox? Worst case I could transfer the donor loom but it starts to become a lot of work. I'd like to get a late Aerotop N/A in grey and convert it to a manual Turbo. I'd like to get a proper subtle weld in cage so maybe all the dash etc would need to come out anyway! Thanks for the feedback. Does anyone know if all the wishbones, steering rack and hubs are the same between the two, I'd imagine they are and just the shocks/brakes differ? Cheers Nito
  7. Cheers Muffleman, My Skylines are all gone now. I would like to make a comeback to Supras again now! My plan is a late Aerotop with a welded in custom cage and 6-speed box but I need to get my house sorted before I can spend too much money on cars! Cheers Nito

    How To Dyno

You can lock the Auto Supra in 2nd on the dyno with Manu mode, this is how mine was done on the G-Force rollers, but its not ideal!
  9. Can anyone tell me if the N/A Supra wiring loom is generic to the TT ones. Ie, if I bought an N/A aerotop and a donor TT would the engine loom of the TT plug straight into the N/A loom ,swap the ECU's and voila!??! Thanks Nito
  10. Hi, You've got my old car btw!! (I sold it Dec 2003) The AEM ecu does this to an extent. It can self map the fuelling with the 02 Wideband ECU, you just tell it the afr's you want and it'll fuel to it. I bought an AEM for my Skyline as I wanted to be able to self map, most of the allegedly 'reputable' mapping companies out there are complete tosh, regardless of fancy dynos and I've spent thousands with them to date to be sadly proven right everytime. I've had AEM, HKS F-Con V Pro, GEMS, and the only one I was ever happy with was the Ecutek on Subarus which I mapped myself!! Never tried Motec, that would have been my next port of call on the Skyline if I'd kept it. The AEM on the skyline was poor (read inconsistent) due mainly to the way the skyline Crank Angle Sensor works, but otherwise it was a good ecu and ought to work well on the Supra. The AEM I imagine for the supra ought to be plug and play and have some start up calibrations so they engine will fire up. If you have a decent knock device, I highly recommend the HKS A/F knock amp which I had setup perfectly on my Skyline, not easy to setup though, was brilliant and I would happily map against it. It could also be configured to work with an ECU as it has an output which the ECU could use to pull timing. Boost setup is the easiest to adjust anyway. It helps if you have a good understanding of what you are doing, there's no reason you can't be self taught and a lot of the good mappers are and have way surpassed the tuning companies in terms of results. IMHO, dynos are good for setting up driveability in the maps, but for flat out power you can't beat mapping on a runway. Mapping on the road is just dangerous in this type of car and not worth the risk (I wouldn't advise it although I used to map my Subarus late at night many years ago) really you need two of you. If you can get access to a runway its perfect. To get a car right takes time and adjusting in many different scenarios as an 8 hour session on a dyno will not replicate the different temperature/humidity conditions, the temps will be higher and the car will probably not have sufficient timing at the top end which will result in higher egt's and too rich running in the real world, from my past experience. Regards Nito
  11. Any more details on the engine spec? What sort of power/boost is it running, who set it up? Is it stock head gasket and cams? Do you still have the boot spoiler or did it never come with one? Thanks Nito
  12. Jurgen, How much was that for a 1997 low miles/mint - stock/bpu 6 speed?? Cheers Nito

    VVTi - Slow?

lol, I've been knocking around in an H6 Outback since selling the Nur so it should have felt like a rocket!!

    VVTi - Slow?

Perhaps it is just a smoothed out delivery then! It never seemed to give that push in the back, feeling of thrust, nor be accompanied by any turbo whistling. First gear was particularly dull. It didn't fizzle out after 6k like the UK car, a clear advantage of the VVTi. What is the stock boost on a VVTi? What boost can they run on the stock turbos? Thanks for the replies so far... Nito

    VVTi - Slow?

Hi Guys, I'm back in the market for another Supra. Drove a VVTi on Saturday and was left dissapointed with the performance. It had no where near the low down grunt and torque of my old UK TT 6sp. This was also a 6 speed. Unfortunately due to traffic I didn't really get out of 2nd gear, but up to 60-70 it felt quite slow. First gear had no poke at all despite the oe boost gauge reading full boost. 2nd gear picked up at higher revs and if you lift off and replant it it came back on song but it needed to be worked. In first you couldn't even feel the second turbo cut in or the first for that matter. So is this what the VVTi is like? As a last of the line you would have expected an improvement but it seems to have gone backwards. It revs to 8k instead of 7k iirc on the UK car. Allegedly these have 320 odd bhp. Can anyone else who's driven both comment. Is it a case of for emissions reasons they've had to reduce low down power and move it further up the range? Is VVTi really an improvement over the torquier lower down delivery of the UK cars? How responsive is the VVTi with a bpu? It feels pretty restrictive as stock. Is it just a case of they have stuffed it with cats etc for emmisions reasons. Otherwise its a very nice car! Cheers Nito
  16. I don't have mine anymore, I have an R34 and an H6 Outback with my name on the plates. Regards Nito ps. sorry, free BTTT!!
  17. Sorry for the hi-jack Zed, I meant Gaz's car in Kent. Regards Nito
  18. Gaz, I've seen your car about, in Canterbury or Bridge I think. Regards Nito
  19. Does the active spoiler still work with the fmic? Nice car. My UK Supra only cost me £500 fully comp, cheapest insurance I've ever had! Good luck with the sale. Regards Nito
  20. I know a Paul Childs and he lives not far from me. Did he used to be a Motorcycle Test Examiner?? Regards Nito
  21. Cheers Michael, It looks identical with the metal plates etc the same and the quality is up there so I would think it is a genuine one. Wing mirrors are Ganador and electric. Here's a pic of the interior. http://www.lyonsannoot.co.uk/nito/MR2%20interior.JPG Regards Nito
  22. Cheers Guys, That's why I've not specified what it is in the main ad, does anyone know what it is? The kit is an Autopista kit but I'm not sure on the spoiler, I've seen an Autopista rear wing and it was different unless they make more than one. It really looks the nuts in the flesh and I really enjoyed driving it, its so direct and well balanced, I'd never given them a second look before! I've been half tempted myself but I've got two Skylines sucking all my cash! Thanks Nito
