  1. That sir is more than likely a head gasket failure. Eventually your performance will suffer as water doesn't burn or compress. The white smoke is steam.
  2. Nice looking car the RX-7. All they need is a 2JZ, with a whacking great big turbo. Really great photos very crisp.

    hi there

Nice little car the Saxo, for a around town nippy cheap car. Pretty amusing that the gold car in the photo has a 'TOW' sticker on the front bumper though.
  4. Do you know why the box is not in a vehicle? Does it come with everthing needed to fit it? How easy is it to convert a tiptronic to a manual? Sorry for all the questions, but interested if it isn't to much hassle to change.
  5. http://mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=209766 Happy Birthday buddy........twice over.
  6. Happy Birthday Barney.... Oh to be 21 again. Hope you have a great day buddy.

L will stand for Low, which will be the lowest gear you can select on the autobox. Effectively the first gear of a manual car
  8. Always the way hey, Bet you have some fun driving around in those conditions don't you? Some great pics there.

    trying to decide

Hi there buddy, You wana have a look at Jamie P's car to see what he is doing on a standard engine, gives you an idea of how good they are. A healthy 2jz that has been looked after and serviced, should be certainly capable of a reliable 450bhp. I'd be more worried at the amount of fuel you might have to put in it.

Hi there Chris welcome to the club. Good luck in finding yourself a good one buddy, plenty of helpful tips on the site and plenty of very experienced owners too. I am sure they will be more than willing to give you a helping hand.
  11. Yeah going to be a 'no go' for most well expensive, was surprised! Exeter skid pan is £65 per person emailed them to see if we could get a group discount, but it still won't be cheap enough you can bet on that. Looking at the website you have to do a basic course, then there is a second advanced course too for the super rich ha. But you can't do one without the other. Back to the drawing board.
  12. yeah totally agree with you on that one. I think a true private plate is best, so that it doesn't limit by age. Certainly some people out there with too much money ha.
  13. Certainly is a tidy profit indeed. Really nice car being a 'Late 6 speed' just a shame it hasn't been left bone stock, might justify a slightly higher price tag then. About the money your talking would sound about right. Saying that it would have seen a few winters in this country, hope it has been well unsealed from arrival.
  14. I recon in the present climate to give it 'legs' so to speak, you'll be looking at £7,500. You obviously want to get the best possible return, and at that price you shouldn't see it hang around too long. You can always hold out for more and I wouldn't blame you either, just depends on how long your willing to wait for the right buyer.
  15. Yeah, definately buyer beware time. Some of the prices of registration numbers are just crazy aren't they too, have been trying to shift one myself. Appears that most registration companies are tighening their belts, most don't even reply with a quote.
  16. Ah yeah missed that option out didn't I. You would of thought that couldn't happen, but I think your probably right to be honest. I was looking at the W - Registration Black Supra for sale too, was brought into the country in 2000 the seller states. Don't see many of those around do you.
  17. I have seen a couple of Supra's for sale now displaying a V - Registration mark, and they are not cherised plates or none year classification either. The cars are clearly not 2000 models, so how can they display a V - Registration mark? I can only assume that they are not the real plates, and are for the benefit of the sales pictures only. Only reason I am wondering is because when I bought mine I was going to transfer a V plate to it I have, but was told that I could not make it appear younger (first dealing with number plates see). The Supra's I have seen have all been on Pistonheads, a Red N/A Aerotop at a garage, and a White VVTI for sale as we speak. Am I missing something?
  18. I second that. So want a set of these too. How did you find the fitment, and what rails did you use?
  19. Pin nose pillars will help you get some decent grip on the relay. Then straight up and out....
  20. Great looking wheel those, certainly suits the black down to the ground. Wonder what they would look like on a white supra, goes to search for a picture......
  21. Top work Barney as its bloody freezing out today. I am freezing my nuts off indoors, let alone being outdoors working with cold metal in your hands. Mega amounts of time and effort gone into this, so really hope its kind to you in the long run you definately deserve that much! Just think of the stories you will be telling in years to come
  22. Congratulations on completing your build. I know you have had your fair share of issues along the way. Really look forward to having a good look once your on the road buddy.
  23. As far as I am aware a import has to be returned to standard if it is 10 years or younger for SVA etc. Once someone has completed the import of a car and paid for an SVA for these shores it can be imported as a first into the country (as the car wasn't sold here originally, other than UK obviously). Once a car has been put through this process and a car is 10 years or older it can be imported without the need for it to return to the factory specification. Hence why you always see lots of Modified cars coming into the country once they are 10 years and older. I don't think Japanese stuff will be any different, if they can't find an exact match then they have to adopt the older emision style. I am pretty sure this is correct, I know it was for me in my circumstance as explained 'As I actually did it' and checked it all first. I believe your best option is to make a trip with your details to a Vehicle Testing Site VOSA site, they will have all the details by law for emissions. They are also specialists in testing vehicle for example like people who build kit cars etc...
  24. Yes, if the tester cannot match the exact model of the car, engine etc then the car must be tested on the older emissions listings. They will follow a flow diagram and it will instruct them to do the older test. Hence for me when they looked for a Twin Turbo 2.9 V6 XR4x4 on a K plate, there is no such car from the factory. Perhaps the same is right for a Single Turbo Supra, as that was not an option from the manufacturer. Either way you will want optimuim fuel burn, and closed loop lambda control is the best way for performance hence why I then fitted the newer Lambda control to my older engine in the XR. Best of both worlds then no strict MOT test, and better fuel economy and performance as long as it doesn't run lean of course.
