If it was me doing this then i would opt for a block that has done quite a lot of miles (over 100K) but is still in excellent condition as this way the block can take the stresses of more boost etc better due to haveing more heat cyles in it etc! The other way i did it was leave my block off my skyline out the back of my house for 12 months in weather conditions and then have it nicely cleaned up and new internals etc fitted and it is now a flying machine! These are called "seasoned" blocks in the trade.... HTH! Stu:d

Yep thanks for the comments guys! I am really busy all of the time and dont get to post on here as much as i would like tbh! I am hoping to change that though...... The parachute btw is fully detachable for cable and mount, so the local rozzers dont get arsy with me! We are based in Darlington approx 30 miles south of Newcastle. Any advice we can help with then please ask as we have built a number of cars for members of this forum very recently with excellent results! Cheers! Stu

Hi Guys, I just wanted to put a quick post up to introduce myself to the forum. I understand that i cannot advertise on the forum until i sort out a traders section with the head honcho so until then i will let you guys have a look at my supra. It has been built by myself and a good friend of mine called Ian who is a legend in the drag racing world for owning the most powerful MK2 cortina in the world powered by a ford mustang V8 (featured in historical ford.) Everything has been purchased using my own money, time etc and i use the car for work daily and it has never let me down in over a year i have been driving it in this spec! it also has carpets and a kenwood stereo The car does 25 mpg on a run which is down to the tuner tbh! I am thinking of entering the car into TOTB for the club?? What do you guys think?? I am confident the car will do rather well, but i am not sure of the surface at Elvington tbh! I dont want to get into a bhp debate but will say the car is making well over 1000rwhp on relatively low boost. I have also enclosed a pic of the car when it was on the dyno as the tuner had to source a sliencer from a 21ltr truck to quieten the car down due to its rather large exhaust! I will post up more pics next week as the front end now has a top secret bumper and there are many more mods... Cheers Stu

how would a 500bhp supra fair against a 330bhp civic?

EF Versions of the civics (1989-1991) can easily be lightened to just over 750kg so if you put in a B16A (supercharged or turbo's) and crank it up to 400bhp then you have a decent match for the 500bhp supra's around, with the only obvious downside being traction issues for the poor ickle civic, even with trick front anti-roll bars etc! even so you cannot beat RWD for FUN FUN FUN! -
I see no reason why your filter would not fit in the same place Nic, as there is quite a bit of room in there tbh! The pipe can easily be altered with a bit of fab work depending on your own tastes/requirements, one thing i do say is try and fully enclose the area off so that the only direct feed is from the front bumper in case you drive the car in wet weather etc! Parts in general aernt too expensive to build a big hp engine tbh! (especially with excahnge rates atm!) its just finding someone that you trust etc to put it together once as basically 99.9% of peeps can only afford to do the job once!! Also you would only ever get back up to 30-40% of your spend when you sell it unless you find someone that wants a "ready-built" racer who will then normally pay a premium for a turn key "proven" car! -
Hhmm a few poeple have said to me they prefer the R32 to the R33 when they are parked together but i always seem to lean towards the R34 tbh as its the colour that gets me first......!

Both cars are std then it will be very close tbh! It is mainly down to the aerodynamic shape of the supe that benefits it at higher speeds where as the cossie was a bit of a brick! Once you go to stage 1 with the escort (330bhp on greens) then they will kill you as they can then do circa 160+.

Will also want to see in the flesh before i pass judgement and fork out any dough on a new version etc! I am also interested if the new engine setup will have the tuning potential of the 2JZ as it has a class act to try and live up to!

Before considering anti-lag i would price up a "Marrem 909" shaft as these are specially made to handle the 1000+ degrees generated by the "bang-bang" system as it is also know as! (They cost over £1,000 each!) btw..) I had this system on my escort cosworth and wow the noise but it destroyed 3 g/boxes very rapidly until i upgraded to an R&D kitted setup and then sold the car for my R32 GTR...still miss it!

I would have to say the midnight purple 2 or 3 from the R34 skyline's as it would look simply stunning on a supe! Trouble is that it is very hard to get hold of....looks totally diff to the purple on my do-luck R33 GTR! hhmmm......

Hhmm complete opposite for me as i have tried like mad to scare her and she just comes back for more! (the wife that is lol!) and because of this she now pesters me to borrow it.....erm now that would be a bright thing to do yep....!!haha..... Keep the car jake! and sell the other 2 as why on earth anyone needs more than one powerful car is beyond me! *cough*.... heehee!!

Where do you get the clay bar from please?? As for the advice on the dull paint i would start with G10 and 2000 grit paper and work up to G3 but it depends on how bad the paint is and how much time you have tbh!

If money was not an issue i would choose CP pistons, then JE from what is available. Hhmm had cosworth pistons in my skyline and do not rate them at all, so changed them for JE pistons. I had the choice of pistons in my skyline drag engine and went for some tomei pistons as recommended by Ron at RK tuning.

Yep agreed a small about of slap when cold but spot on when warm! As far as the pistons go i have heard very good things about Weisco's! Also Ross are superb but everyone has their own opinion! HTH!
