  1. I've got a feeling David is running an electric water pump and the pulley that originally drove the impeller is there just to give belt wrap?
  2. Source of spares here Jurgen: http://www.racecarsdirect.com/listing/37831/nissan_gt_r_3_8_2009_breaking.html
  3. The cam boxes have two breather hoses across the tops of the coil packs, they go hard and brittle and break or split when you try and flex the hoses off, best to buy two new ones BEFORE they break....
  4. It's just the shell of the connector. The actual contact pins themselves are part of the engine loom, a £1000 ish jobbie, or Toyota will sell the connectors with a short "tail" of wire crimped on, to splice into the existing loom. I could get you the part numbers for the tails (available in two different lengths, but not until later. Let me just see if I can find an old post of mine..... Here you go: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?235573-Engine-loom-problem-%28Vid-Inside%29&highlight=tail+connector
  5. Pictures link is broken, should be: http://www.supraforums.com/forum/showthread.php?578930-Stephane-GT55-33-updated-pics Nice engine spec, but what ECU is he running?
  6. When it comes to torquing up wheel nuts / studs and brake bleed nipples, it seems people have this "thing* about tighter being better. Brake caliper bleed nipples just need nipping up, especially on J-Spec calipers. A serious grauncnh on the spanner will do some casting damage or stretch / break wheel fasteners
  7. Thanks. it seems OK now here, as well, they must have been using all their antipodean bandwidth watching Weber., racing under team orders
  8. Not been able to connect all day, my connection is far from good here, at the best of times, is it me, or their site? Thanks. http://www.motec.com.au/home
  9. It would be the torque converter locking up. It locks up under certain mapped engine load, engine RPM, gearbox tailshaft speeds and fluid temperatures to increase economy and reduce emissions.
  10. Alonso, thanks my friend, a few pints await me at the pub tonight
  11. I would buy a tool cabinet off Machine Mart, get their Pro range, the lesser ones will disappoint, then buy tools separately, sometimes Ebay is a good source for quality used stuff, or special deals on new. the all in one box / tools packages sound cheap, but you get stuff you don't need, and don't get stuff you DO need
  12. Park it in Liverpool, they usual SCRAPE a car for free Around £120 here. You may get a better price if it will drive to the yard rather than them collecting it.
  13. Next time I speak with Ryan I will ask him about direct GPS input to the S8, I was thinking of trying one, but now I have used a customers race car with GPS logging I see how much better it is than remembering to take a beacon, and remembering to collect it off the pit wall when you go home, assuming no one has nicked it. I bought a Garmin 5Hz GPS receiver for my Motec set up in the Skyline, and risked buying what i thought was the unit they used direct from the US on Ebay. £120 compared to Motec's asking price of £380. I managed to get it set up the other day and am pleased to say it works fine. I would try a Google Earth overlay except Motec only offer this with Pro Logging in their data analysis package i2 pro, a £500 a year licence option. I want to find out if enabling Pro Logging in the ECU (a still hefty £500 one off fee) will do the same thing. I am not sure exactly what benefits, other than "looking cool" it has, but it would be nice to have a play with it. Thanks to Wez I am having another play with Race Technology software, but compared to i2 Standard it's a total nightmare to use. I will also have a fiddle with Syvecs logging stuff, but lack data files to play with, and would love to see their track generation in real time use, anyone got any data with this logged? Thanks Tony for the run through, Very helpful. Below is a high speed lap of the front garden, maxing out at a heady 13.5 MPH, in the Skyline
  14. Proper mappable ecu to optimize timing and fuelling, maybe a pair of cams, I would say after that it's single time. But you then already have the ecu, and cams, so you aren't buying stuff that's immediately redundant. Going single PROPERLY is a big step, engine should have a proper rebuild first, madness expecting 500 plus BHP from a 100,000 miler or so engine. Fraser MacKellar of Motec gained about 45 BHP on his "BPU" (what a silly and typically American thing that is...) VVTi when he fitted an M800, and pulled some fuel out and added some timing and played with the VVti stuff.
  15. The control algorithms would be a total nightmare. F1 struggled with this. You could buy the Shiftec unit, but it's mega money: http://www.shiftec.com/other_products.html Build it as an auto and have push buttons for the gearbox control, then you lose that hated clutch master cylinder spoiling the engine bay If you are so fond of minimalism just buy a pogo stick....
  16. I have a new standard thermostat in stock, can't you just buy one over there though? Happy to send it, seems an expensive way to get one, that's all.
  17. Very artistic Jurgen, do you do porno films too? We need some lap times next, not this rolling road malarkey. Is it quiet enough fro track days? Well done, great build, well documented, thanks for sharing.
  18. If that elusive lottery win befalls you, or wealthy aunt Simone leaves you her town house property in Belgravia, here's a big boy's toy to play with: http://www.racecarsdirect.com/listing/37670/peugeot_xv8r_with_cosworth_xb_power.html I can't see a huge queue forming instantly at his door, so you probably have time to hire a trailer and tidy the garage out ready Nice build, obviously cost a fortune, but £325K is hugely optimistic. Late Group C territory, or historic F1 with big spares package.
  19. Matt and Blackie are now looking for a small house together, and considering a civil ceremony to cement their new special relationship Glad you have reached a suitable agreement, it's nice when members can resolve what started as something seemingly very acrimonious in such a way.
  20. Yes, even with -12 hose and good fittings there will be some pressure and flow drop with yards of hosing.
  21. So long as you duct air to it it will be more than adequate. Look how small the aperture is in the stock bumper compared to the area of the SMIC. They use the expansion ratio of the duct to slow the air down, and INCREASE efficiency. Making (neat) ducts is a PITA, unless you are good at making moulds and using composites. A fabricated ally sheet one is a possibility, but the aperture in the bumper is not a regular shape. You need to exit the air, similar to the louvred liner in the RH wheel arch.
  22. There are far better aftermarket traction control systems than the stock setup, which is pretty much "I see wheel spin, I'll kill the engine dead for a few seconds" . Using the throttle butterfly is how the stock system works, most after market ones cut injectors in a sequence.
