  1. I am very aware of the thinner rods in this UZ variant so already have the thicker rods with pistons in a box. If the gains are marginal changing just the ECU, then it may be better to combine the whole job of ecu and supercharger together. Would I be able to get a quote from yourself or Lee over email or PM?
  2. Thanks for the replies everyone! That Link G4+ Extreme looks to be a UZ favourite. I'll be getting in touch with some more tuner houses, nothing is likely to happen until after lockdown though. @Samurai and @Mike2JZ, do you have a 1UZ VVTi also and what performance increase did you gain going from stock to standalone?
  3. Thanks, I'll look into those. The eBay Link ecu is for the non-vvti version, I couldn't be that lucky
  4. If the two different metals don't have an electrical contact then I guess they wouldn't corrode.
  5. There is a corrosive effect when brass contacts with aluminium and water. See it on aluminium dust caps for wheel valves.
  6. Yeah, all the UZ engines are quad cam. Didn't know that would be a restriction on the ECU side. ECUMaster is pretty new also isn't it? SRD seem to be selling those now, not sure if they still tune Syvecs come to think of it . If the Motec can do it all and a tuner is skilled with it I'd be happy with that. It's finding a good tuner that is comfortable with a fully UZ VVTi capable ecu. My gearbox is indeed under SupraStick control. One of DavidP's hybrids.
  7. Link has come up many times with others that have the 1UZ, although not sure if it can manage the VVT or know of a favoured tuner who uses it.
  8. The Basset Down one? My mate just had his MX5 built and turbo'd with them so recommended me to check them out. The other one with the AEM would have been with Dan Turner who was also recommended. The tuner with the MBE ecu says it can control the VVT on my motor and would support the supercharger later. Just sniffing around on Pistonhead forums seemed it was more suited to retro Escorts and TVR's.
  9. Has anyone heard of an MBE ecu before? It is the favoured system for Basset Down Balancing who I recently had a mapping quote from. I've never heard of it and wondered if it was a bit old school these days. https://bassetdownbalancing.com http://www.sbdev.co.uk/Engine_Management_Systems/ECU/MBE_ECU_Software.htm I was planning on having an AEM Infinity ECU for my 1UZ Supra, but it seems either the tuner I had in mind has gone out of business or just not renewed their website domain/hosting. http://www.advancedme.co.uk/ Am waiting to hear from Magnum Performance and Parformance at Hart for what ECU they use. Looking to get a standalone ECU to replace the factory unit and mapped, with the intention to support an M122 supercharger later on. Pic for attention

  11. Gary (MK4Gaz) does carbon skinning. I have a lot of his work on my car and am very pleased with it.
  12. Searching Jazz1 on this forum comes up blank and he hasn't posted on Instagram for 78 weeks.
  13. I'd be interested in having a new vin plate with the manufactured car details on. I'd also like a show plate showing what my Supra actually has now rather than what it was built with. I have a design made up in Photoshop ready to go. The plate SRD made for Jazz was really nice. Gave me the idea to design my own.
  14. What a shame, but it’s understandable. They may give the option to keep credit with them and reorganise later, or offer a refund. I’d be inclined to keep credit with them as we’ll get there eventually. These kinds of businesses are going to be hurt a lot by the lost income.
  15. Was pretty good last year. It has the main day of the show with camping before and after if you like. Did an award ceremony for different categories of cars at the end, not just the cars on the Show and Shine section but all in attendance. Nigel also organised a discounted event at Silverstone racetrack the next day if people wanted to stick around for a bit more. Was his first show last year and he is going for a close community feel to it.
  16. After testing a couple of different wheel clamps, the one I found to be the best is from a 2007 onwards Kia Cee'd. The same part is used in the 2013 onwards Cee'd but I don't know beyond that if they stay with the same design. The early ones are black instead of grey, so better. I also added 30mm of extra foam on top of the three OE boot base foam blocks to hold the weight of the wheel. The hub contact surface in the middle is now just above the normal resting point where the OE wheel would've gone. This clamp worked better than from some other cars because it tapers under the contact surface which will help stop the wheel from sliding about. They will need about 15mm of thread cut off so you aren't screwing it down into the top of your fuel hanger.. Leave about 27mm of thread which will be enough.

  20. No worries mate. I'm happy to test anyone's caliper against it for peace of mind. The alloy space saver doesn't quite sit in the boot space wheel well like the OE space saver does and will need some extra support to prevent the wheel rocking about. Also the metal clamp that screws down won't reach the mounting thread so it's not secured until an alternative is found. A 70mm washer should fit into the centre bore of the space saver alloy and allow a bolt to hold it in place (yet to test that). It does raise the carpeted area up a touch too, but not by much. AP Racing say 4mm clearance minimum and this was pretty close with a 10mm spacer, but it will fit. I have this data for the Supra wheels: PCD: 5x114.3 Centre Bore: 60.1
  21. I printed the template out and tested against the wheel. With a 10mm spacer the wheel will fit over your AP Racing calliper with about 2-3mm clearance.
  22. I can do a box opening video for you Not looked inside it yet.
  23. Yeah I was glad it fitted. It comes with a load of stuff I couldn’t opt out of which is annoying. Like another scissor jack, wrench etc. Bumps the price up more than it needed to be.
