  1. 500 bhp produces a lot of heat energy ,more so than a 300 bhp engine the extra heat must go somewhere out the exhaust, into the oil system, engine bay,and water system =hence the fitment of oil coolers and upgraded radiators 500bhp is also not cheap to achieve ,so why wouldnt you protect your "investment" with a simple change to the anti freeze during the summer - or reducing the content during the winter? "the stock rad seems ok" based on the water temp gauge I guess.what would the oil temp be doing? if the water system is at its max capacity?
  2. water wetter inhibits corrosion, and prevents hot spots in engine the same as anti freeze -distilled water also helps-but ww is no good in freezing conditions
  3. Do powerflex do polybushes for the supra? if not are the supra ones the same size as any other application from powerflex?
  4. The reason for my post ; extracting more and more power from the Supra is a favourite topic, yet nothing much is posted on coolant. more power = more heat fmic fitting = less cooling some go to the expense of fitting more efficient aftermarket radiators but coolant hardly mentioned, PURE water is the best coolant it has a far better heat transfer rate than anti freeze straight water is about twice the heat extraction than a 50/50 mix if you ran pure anti freeze you engine would run hotter!!!! why do not more people use water wetter in place of anti freeze as a corrosion inhibitor and lubricant for the water pump? especially this time of year and if drag racing?
  5. 50/50 mix is a factory determined mixture on a stock engine, did you know anti freeze has a far worse thermal capablility than water?
  6. How many on here are using anti freeze,if so how much?
  7. disc brakes should have a braking effect directly proportional to the pedal pressure ,light pedal pressure-light braking etc Pad bedding in is important and seldom carried out ,but this usually causes vibration and noise rather than poor braking at low pedal pressure I would not use 2nd hand pads myself, but if they seem to work ok under high loading and no vibration I guess your brakes are as normal Different pad compounds will massively affect the braking and feel so to compare car for car is not possible a fiesta for example weighs fuck all and never gets to any great speed -so has far less heat to cope with I suspect your brakes are fine
  8. it would if it was 8 cubic feet big !!
  9. I think some perspective is required,if the engine is using around 8 cubic feet of air /second (stock engine) provided by the turbos, what would be the extra volume of a large i/c verses a smaller one ? mathmatician reqd:) if as a guess its .8 cubic foot then 1/10th of a sec to fill ,all ball park numbers but I dont think it would be far off .8 of a cubif foot would be about the size of a portable tv ,but the internal volume of an intercooler with cooling fins and tubes probably lots less
  10. I have a huge fmic here, unused,no pipe work though,£150,had it custom made -cost me lots more!!
  11. under 25k , ultra reliable, supercar performance,cheap servicing,.........corvette c5
  12. surely not the caliper upside down trick again! that would be twice in a month -worth a check
  13. You can get stainless steel ty wraps for the wrap on the manifold from cooltek about £9 a bag of 10 ,they work well and look a bit better than locking wire-PM me if you need some and I will send you a pack
  14. If using a charge cooler the laminova cores work best ,use them in parallel to reduce pressure drops it is possible although expensive to have the laminova cores in an intake manifold made specially for the supra they would work very well but would require a couple of extra radiators and a quality pump -johnsons from sweden do great pumps-where the radiators would fit ? space could be tight- but the results would be very good the end tanks of the fmic could also be used like the pace twin charge cooler again £££££
  15. sometimes you can miss the obvious ,as the calipers have been removed and overhauled, have they been refitted correctly?,they can be fitted upside down ie left to right and vice versa so the bleed nipple is over the caliper in stead of under. this means that the air trapped in the lower part of the caliper cannot be bled as the nipple in above it. could be one of those doh! moments we all have worth checking..
  16. intake, throttle, and top end gasket set (new in box)any takers?

    Pancake Day!!!

Try adding vanilla to the pancake mix, clotted cream,a dash of rum and lightly sugar- yum yum!
  18. Greddy oil catch can £30 +£8 post for the bling lovers and magpies among us ,also a new timing belt £15 for TT
  19. I have one , just postage price
  20. have a pair of drilled rear discs £20 the pair plus post £8 condition ok just surface rust where not used adam
  21. Latest Update When I am not stripping a supra the supercharger project is progressing well, couple of pics for those interested a few more refinements added, the control unit developed can control up to 4 extra injectors, its is adjustable for injector duration and has inputs of crank sensor for rpm, boost pressure sensor, and intake temp, from these parameters it controls the extra injectors which fuel into the supercharger intake giving good atomisation and a bit of cooling too. (the control unit could be adapted for the supra) The point of the excercise was to develop something as an alternative to expensive ecu fitting which would also keep stock injectors in place and stock ecu so normal idle and running off boost but controlled fuelling on boost also the temp input is used to richen slightly if temp gets too high and offset detonation The charger is a screw compressor (proper charger)rated to about325 bhp, larger one could be used to about 550 plus but a bit pointless on a MINI If anyone has pots of cash I will do one for the supra:d
  22. I will get round to replying to all PMs in time still taking apart the car ,some pics for you all to see of stuff removed. the delivery cost is £8 except the large parts which require a pallet or similar and I Am worried they will get damaged in shipping so prefer they be collected. once stripped is anyone interested in a complete shell? it is not accident damaged ,and straight £250 (you must collect) the last parts off will be the suspension/steering as the car is then unmoveable so please be patient if waiting for those bits Adam
