Those are coil resistances and not the most important thing , what you need to know is the insulation resistance in megohms , but as with most things electrical , few actually know what you are talking about if you quote these numbers . If the insulation resistance is low , then the coil resistance is academic as the coil pack is shot.
  2. You could also spend 20k , wait months for completion waiting parts,etc, then do 100 miles and sell it -for half what it cost if lucky- cost 100 pounds per mile!! -not such a value then -lol
  3. Just stop counting when you pass £15 , some people spend £2000 on a set of golf clubs and are still crap ! It's a hobby so it don't matter!! Now add up the amount you've spent on beer- ouch
  4. What year was the engine?,I think I remember Reading somewhere there was an assembly plant change at some point in production , due a dramatic change in production numbers circa1996??? Or maybe someone had too much Saki the night before?

    100 years of free education!!! Apparently in the last 30 years or so ,17 teachers have been sacked for being rubbish!! out of a cast of thousands , hundreds of thousands ...there could be a link?

  7. I think the stem seals go due 1 age 2 heat , more power more exhaust valve heat , there go the seals ... Allowing oil into the head will cause carbon build up ( not good) If left ages I would take head off to check/ clean , and replace with viton or such new ones . Then you know all is well . I would guess that the seals go shortly after decat fitment or power upping , mine did quick smart !!
  8. Oil cooler is a fundamental for any power increases over stock . The primary cooling system is the water system , secondary is oil , Once the water system has extracted all the heat it can , which is flow dependent ,then the oil system becomes the next heat transfer medium . Simply ;power up and or rpms up and the oil system cannot flow enough to extract the heat , this leaves heat within the engine , that can cause premature failures and wear ; valves ,valve seats valve guides,stem seals,cracks in head ,piston rings , head bowing, plugs,pistons,head gaskets,bore wear, and increased detonation . Oil temp guages are in fact an engine temp guage but poor at doing it as they have time delays due the nature of the oil flow and return , sump or filter temps are not the temp that the oil reaches as a maximum within the engine , for instantaneous temps cylinder head temp is far better . Pushing higher power levels need both enhanced water cooling and oil cooling and both these require increased flow , oil coolers are a second best as they do not increase flow but increase heat exchage instead , radiators do not increase flow at all . higher oil pump pressures do not increase flow in linear way and can blow out seals - Take care of the cooling and the engine will take care of itself , dont and it becomes a fail waiting to happen

Not every mod , but most, funky coloured cam pulleys , that shear the timing belt , still sell eh!! Lowering springs still sell,,,, But there are things like cooler plugs that are beneficial , it's just a case of sorting wheat from chaff,and there is a lot of chaff,,,
  11. As an Idea Ford/GM are talking about a new joint engine development , cost 1 billion dollars , ONE BILLION !!! This is the sort of budget OEM uses . The stock crank would have been developed by teams of people , and every aspect catered for. Things like harmonics would have been tested and designed for , more testing and development in any small aspect than all the aftermarket put together multiplied by 100. Toyota can run cranks to 10000 rpm for hours on end until failure , then analyse a pile of broken cranks , adjust harmonics,damper, crank bend ,oil films,and a host of things . They are fitted in 100000s of cars covering 100000s of miles . Changing the stroke almost makes it a different engine , with minimum testing and evaluation,so taking Toyotas base it must be better to improve things like bearings,rod bolts , finer stock balance limits,oil quality etc . You are starting from an awesome basic design! All engine parts were designed to work together from the start , that's why stock unopened engines can run 800+ bhp without instant failure! Try nearly 3 x stock output on just about any other engine 15 years old and see what happens... Toyota got it right , and not by chance

  14. Of our 200 odd billion welfare bill, around 55% goes on pensions. then 40-50% of all pensioners claim other benefits also. Housing benefit, council tax benefit, winter fuel payment, free television licenses, free bus passes, etc. This will push up the cost of pensioner benefits, so around pensioners take up ~75-80% of all welfare costs. we are a graying nation so that the pensioner cost is continually increasing at 5-8% per year over the past decade. Which is substantially above gdp growth and inflation. But this doesnt include our healthcare bill which is another 120 odd billion per year. And guess what? The elderly consume the lions share of this also and again its increasing at a rate way above inflation. In comparison job seekers is about 3 billion and housing benefit for the unemployed is going to be another billion or two. However pensioner voting numbers and the fact that they consistently have a high voter turn out means that this section of our society is consistently protected to the detriment of everyone else. And since our politicians cant/wont target this group our attention is turned to those who it is easy to demonize - i.e. the unemployed. And while they are being demonized, because of the voting power of the pensioner demographic the government is increasing its relative spending on them, which in turn is squeezing out spending on everything else. So just who are the reforms aimed at ? and just who already has the majority of the wealth ? and what on earth are the papers reporting? food for thought,,
  15. The whole cooling system is simple, but misunderstood , I may do write up to explain in simple terms the importance of getting it right , especially with upping power levels , most after market is likely to harm ,more than help and unbalance things .

I dont think that includes pension liabilities , they tend not to include those !! and the demographic change as the large amount of baby boomers retire , and less people are employed to pay tax . Its more a person who has 10 credit cards , they are all at the limit and he wants more cards , as he is now part time , and has ordered a Ferrari for next year !!
  18. The far East , and or countries with commodity wealth -Canada,and Oz -(both have small relative populations ) in Europe -Norway due its small population and large oil wealth

By the time you lot have worked out how much a trillion is , the number has gone up-lol not long ago the value of everything in the whole world ,thats everything !!was 50 trillion $ - it is estimated the US alone could need 90 trillion to square up - go figure !! some talk of a quadzillion in total around the world , I dont even know what that is but its very big I suspect and grows every year

This posts prompts about 15 different aspects in one go , best take each aspect one at a time , and there will be no definitive answer as no data or testing has ever been done - (except toyota) Rods for example can easily take the stress and strain , but there is no cyclic fatigue data , and they are subject to bearing quality and tolerance,oil conditions, det ,rod bolts,balance and harmonics . The rate of stress is less important than the maximum stress and rpm , they are already under stress many times a second , and the elastic qualities less important than the bearings and oil and balance The largest stress will be det and shock from it
  22. I didnt see the documentary , but I have been looking at the problems for the last 4 years , and it is not just the UK but a world wide problem , and been running for some time, and take some fundamental changes to overcome it . At the moment fixes are only delaying things ,,

Electric cars still require huge amounts of oil to make them , power can be and probably will be hydrogen cell , these currently and probably will use Platinum , the use of battery cells be it lithium or otherwise is a non starter- Power generation is far less of an issue ,its all the other uses of oil that we cannot substitute (just about everything!!!( 80% of everything in your home is oil derived ) Copper is likely to also become an issue , everyone assumes that we can forever keep digging huge holes in the ground and there is an everlasting supply -er no Most future predictions are crap , the assumptions made are flawed ... a bit like costing the Millenium dome , it starts out at £4.99 -LOL .. or the M25 traffic loads... or ,or ,,,
  24. The head of Total oil has predicted the same $200 / barrel but within the next 2 years - I go with that as a more accurate prediction . Electric cars will be faster -They have no torque restriction !!!- a lot faster!!
