  1. You might need a "slow blow" fuse , the motor draws large current during start and reduces as its running ,still use a 13 amp- but slow blow fuses can take 3 times this for a short period of time (enough to get the motor up to speed) Some motors also use a start capacitor and yours may be knackered
  2. check that post accident they reconnected all the earth leads ,properly (ground leads)
  3. Why are you starting the car in the diagnostic mode ? you short the pins and turn on the ignition it then shows the history of fault codes by flashing ,there is another pair of pins that are used for road testing diagnostics when starting the voltage drops during start ,the diagnostic will now get real confused
  4. Next? - a hose pipe ban ? Locusts?
  5. That is also part of the plan but may not be necessary , once water goes beyond 375 deg then there is no evaporative cooling effect but superheated steam , until I can exactly find out what is happening and why exactly temps drop and det is prevented then it's easy to add . Too many changes together make it impossible to allocate what exactly has what effect and what compounds effects
  6. I did look into it long ago and it got complex !! So I'm restricting myself to pre comp WI and pre comp swirl as a combination effect , still complex but less so than compressor matching and far cheaper !!
  7. The article shows a methodology for testing And actual data , for example turbine temps , finding actual data is rare . There are also references to further papers in particular pre compressor alterations which I am looking at . Like any project you need any and all infomation that has been done before , it saves doing things that just don't work and have been tried before . So far I have not found one paper on what I am trying to do , but lots in similar areas. The soarer used parallel and supra seq , Toyota would have done studies but they are not published
  8. Space heater or it should be fine by spring!
  9. As rants go yours was rubbish, far too reasonable. You should visit the other end "rant central" Picture a line of telephone receptionists , with proper full on incoming rants , in multiple languages , Proper rants , shouting, abuse , threats, tears, hang ups ,real rage !!- you will have to up your game!
  10. Disconnect the battery, and reconnect again , this clears previous faults . Then start engine , run the gear box selector up and down a couple of times then go through the fault codes again . Looks like someone was looking at the oxy sensor - good call you can check the sensor voltage at the diagnostic plug - After such a long time the sensor is probably fubar , a replacement , non genuine one can be spliced in using the original Toyota connector . If the o2 sensor is shot you get large overfuelling and plugs will be black and can misfire
  11. Well if easyjet carry say 10 million passengers and a % say 5% need a refund due snow or any reason during the year , then they have 500000 peoples money for a minimum 10 days , it would be better for a longer time ! This could be considered as a permanent credit line for buying fuel for example and you never actually pay ! Bad PR of course but do they care? they are cheap and people want cheap - hence 10 million punters! There is of course the flip side passengers have a cancellation due say a volcano and promptly check in the nearest 5 star hotel , having never been in a 5 star hotel in their life ,and commence the claimathon...let there be lobster!!
  12. "pov pack" That would be with ultrasonic, heated, flippy mirrors, autodim mirrors, soft touch wiper/indicator controls, elec steering column, auto retract passenger seat, memory electric seats ,turning lights, air con, yadda yadda,,,,LOL Try a 1970 s Lada; "roof" ,"check", "floor" ,"check" ,"OK lets go...
  13. "If he sings let it snow ,let it snow, one more time Im going hit him with this bloody shovel"
  14. All of these people who claim some "extra" or "higher" sense , light workers, frequency resonators , et al , it is far more likely they actually have a reduced brain function , That would never sell though ,or be popular it would be difficult for people accept they have some sort of retardation in brain function , does a retard actually know they are retarded? Are the totally insane blissfully happy at a higher(lower) state ? such supernaturals actually subnaturals ?
  15. "Toyota doesn't have the machine to do a diagnostic.. so getting the code is out of the question." you can do this yourself at the diagnostic plug and read the codes -see FAQ
  16. http://www.tytlabs.co.jp/english/review/rev413epdf/e413_009uchida.pdf Toyota study on pre compressor shaping and control of air , seems they had some good gains , but use of VIGV alone less so , but they were relying on the low velocity intake air and not water saturated air Along the right lines though good work I guess some high costs involved with the VIGV actuation and control system
  17. http://www.scipub.org/fulltext/ajeas/ajeas32342-349.pdf Found this during my research - for anyone that is interested ,its supra/soarer engine data so always good to know
  18. It had red coolant , couldn't tell what was used , it was just purchased cheap as an easy project, but the water was brown , and so system flushed and new pump fitted. It was a hole in both rather than expansion damage , pinprick hole that released steam !! About 4 weeks later . Maybe it pays to turn the engine over regular if parking up
  19. Its strange ; I have nevercome across a leaky core plug over the years , but 2 months ago my lads Soarer was leaking water , and lo it was coming from a core plug (it had a tiny hole in the middle), fixed this and then the other side of the engine again core plug started leaking 2 days later !! The car was parked up for 6 months prior to buying it and wondered if they had rusted due inactivity anyone else had the car parked up before the leak occured ?
  20. Probably the majority of cars need doing by now , and head off is the only real way of ensuring that its all clean Lots of cars on the 7 8 or 9th owner by now , the last 3 just drove the car and sold it when the tyres wore out!! oil sodden i/c , valve stem seals , short trips to buy the fags , and the knackered sensors all promote carbon build . six months studying shiny new single turbos ,and agonising over what supporting components to fit only to pass carbon flakes through the turbine at 700mph is probably not the best idea ,coupled with increasing boost and cylinder head temps into a carboned piston or exhaust valve probably not the second best idea either
  21. Tv wont work as its for Japan ,but a dvd is easy to hook up in the same screen, check the drivers door hinge ,they are heavy doors and can drop , press the scroll button on the dash and it checks most of the systems for faults Generally they are trouble free the air suspension systems are now old and expensive to replace or repair ,many go onto conventional coilovers
  22. For sure parked up the lupo/arosa has little street cred , but with a few engine mods at reasonable cost , they make over 200ft lb of torque due to the large piston diameter and the car weights about the same as a wet paper bag On the road the car punches way above its weight ,as an example I was driving a BMW 850 with a v12 5.0 liter ,an could not catch my lads Arosa until 110 - Thats street cred !!
  23. If your battery is low and its cold the battery loads up the alternator after starting drawing high current ,and the belt can slip if not in good nick or tight , will stop once the alternator has replaced some charge in the battery after a few mins - or just charge the battery
  24. Exactly the car to have , superb torquey engine , cant be beaten
  25. So in 7 years time if you do not secure the freehold ,you live in an unmortgageable house , ie you can only sell to a cash buyer !! Is the house a repo,or under bank ownership ? or the previous owner passed away ? corporate owned? The banks are super cautious now ,and that they offered a mortgage means the underwriters have factored in a price drop so should be reasonable value , unless they are recouping losses from a previous default What does your solicitor say ? I would offer 100k and take a punt
