Same breed , just the NA is a weedy relative - steroids needed or everyone kicks sand in your face - lol

The radiator makes little or no difference , over stock . It's simply a heat exchanger , look at the ratings , how many btu/ area or watts / area . If you run hot at idle/ low speeds , the rad makes no odds as it's in it's most inefficient area and the rad ratings are not enough difference . If you overheat at forward speed again the rad does not increase flow , it's a flow system . Same pump speed, same stat flow ,same waterway dimensions - only difference is the rad rating - race rads are made for specific installation and 10/10s performance - low weight and maximum fin density for a specific install If the rad added cooling and temps dropped - the sat would close to balance . If you wanted ECU control then an electric stat is the way - this allows the ECU to predict temp and open stat in advance and reverse .

Is it worth getting a TRD thermostat over a stock one?

Some proper marketing BS from cosworth there - are they having a hard time? 75 quid for a 5 quid stat! -
exchange suspension bush service - re bush arms etc on and exchange basis autodim rear view mirror both easy to provide ..

http://www.statistics.gov.uk/cci/nugget.asp?id=285 govt numbers above show the decline in wages since , well 2004 really , but accelerating since 2008 , and median salaries ..
-
As you are dealing with means, medians and averages , you can only give average solutions - some places across the uk rose way above median some way below . Each area and each individual house is different but the average result is just that average house is circa 163000 the average income is circa 24000 therefore there is a correction needed or multiples of income to mortgage ( bank loans) do not tally - it leaves a shortfall in income or people just stop eating for example to balance . It must correct either by wage rises or house price reduction - it cannot work if people cannot afford to live! Rental yields in property are also missmatched , high rentals are needed to cover loan costs - in uk people worked off house price rises to offset low yields , what happens if prices drop?-and wages drop and living costs inflate? And employment stagnates? - you enter a spiral, which is very hard to break out of . The old bricks and morter rule soon spins round!
-
If peak price was 155 , then it should bottom out just over 100k plus inflation adjustment , you are trying to catch a falling knife ! Simply having a deposit puts you in a strong position - cash is king!! The days of bank lending muppetry have gone ,except for whole country lending muppetry. Things are getting tighter by the month . It's not about what you can afford or willing to pay but what everyone else can afford or borrow next year .

Getting close now! Couple of things worth consideration: fit 2 boost guages , one as normal to check boost at high rpm - if increases then engine is being choked . One to intake side to check vacuum - if too high the intake/ throttle needs looking at and keep max rpm in check as the charger adds a considerable load to the nose of the crank - lastly the fuel enrichment with throttle closed to wide open - a blip of fuel needed .Or HHO?
-
The Engine stress is due the load(weight) of the car - get a trailer and save the monster fuel bill driving a 600hp car to the track!! Also any failure at the track and you can get home!! You can prep the car before each race -load it on trailer - then just final checks and away you go !! You have space for wheels and tools etc too Paul W - races a supra , give him a call and get some advice , see how hard it is chasing light low power cars!!

A better marketing tactic would be :I got fed up with motorcross- lol

The current all time low interest rates , if only rise by 0.5% - then 2.4 million people cannot make their monthly repayments and bills . There will be no shortage of distressed sellers!! It's FUBAR .......Just make like a vulture and wait ....
-
http://www.economist.com/node/18925999 this suggests houses in uk 28% overpriced - this is an average and I suspect nearer 40% would rebalance
-
Strip the car to within a gram of falling apart - low weight means less braking mass , less mass transfer , and less mass to accelerate . Then gear the car for it's track use then you don't need the higher power and it's traction issues cam and turbo selected for your powerband with gearing and weight talk to CW ref suspension - simples

You can check on what the house sold for previously and when it sold . You can check recent auction prices in the area for similar properties. I would offer between 20 % and 40% less than asking , depending on location maybe more , areas with high public sector employment , reduce the offer , areas with high student population or uni. offer less , check the large local employers are they likely to go pop or return to overseas . Check the property available in the area has this number increased rapidly ? Some areas such as Wales ( high public sector) or Northampton ( oversupply without local employment ) will drop faster and further . Rising costs for energy will hit larger properties or more remote ones . All in all best wait really , never wise to buy in a falling Market .. And fall it will

Is it worth getting a TRD thermostat over a stock one?
jagman replied to Scott's topic in Supra Chat
The stat has an opening temp - this is the temp at which the rapid engine temp climb (stat closed) is started to be slowed down - then the stat controls this slowed rise upto its full open temp the full open temp is what you see on the temp guage as normal so if you now floor the car and maintain a very high constant speed - the water pump runs faster and stat stays full open - the water temps stay normal BUT the oil temps rise - excess heat is going to oil as the water system is maxxed out -no more flow is available -stat open and pump high speed Along with oil temp rising the cylinder head temp rises and the cylinder wall temp rises - these all inpact the detonation point of the engine and the exhaust valve temps -

Stats are flow control devices , thats why they are the shape they are and move as they do . -
Is it worth getting a TRD thermostat over a stock one?
jagman replied to Scott's topic in Supra Chat
No- The cooling system can only extract heat relative to flow - any stat can only open to a max , if the heat isnt extracted fast enough ,the cooling temp only reaches a set amount - the oil temp rises ,and the head temp rises If the coolant temp rises ,you would have major problems ,head and oil temps would be real high! simply looking at coolant temp is not enough to say its fine and under control ,any rise in coolant in driving conditions is not good ,stationary is another matter as the system is undercooled and uses the fan to regulate as the engine is off load The water system is not a stand alone cooling system but works in conjunction with oil and air ,all three are interlinked. the opening stat temp if lower simply slows the oil warm up time and engine warm up time its the max open temp that controls the running temp by controlling flow- maximum flow is when you remove the stat altogether , but now the engine is overcooled for most of the time and very slow oil warm up along with engine warm up and unstable block and head temps -
Both China and India are planning some of the largest projects the world has ever seen and plenty of them , whole techno cities !! Standards will only improve in both countries , all paid for by cheap tat !! Meanwhile the UK struggles to fill potholes .. The brightest and best are allowed to leave the UK and work elsewhere! Railwise the last UK train manufacturer is set to close (even though its Bombardier -Canadian) and be transferred to Germany -I guess when it comes to Trains "were -oot

hi, im new, have a cavalier :O .. but im getting a 1JZ ....

got an engine if you want one -
Running higher boost requires modification to prevent det , beyond mapping and fuel . Attention to every detonation cause , such as cylinder wall temps , air turbulence, head temps etc just running high boost bone stock with bigger turbo will probably end in tears . WI is a must have
-
So what happened when you ran it with no stat then?
-
Start with the simple things: Is stat fully opening ? - it's been stood for ages Are the rubber pipes soft , are they collapsing? Is Pressure cap blowing off early ? Is the rad blocked? Is your oil level correct?

Some people do not have choice ! There have been stealth changes happen and proposed ,( they will come into being unchallenged due ignorance) for example , new labour laws allow any employee to be fired without any need for a reason , within 2 year of starting, proposed to increase to 4 years - now why employ anyone beyond that point - simply fire all staff before 4 years !! Pension rules coming so all companys must have a pension scheme even with 1 staff !! Which small employer is going to administrate all that? - simple answer make all staff part time - reduced hours , no pension !! then fire their a@@e Before 4 years Don't people see where we are going here - for those that think hey I,m not in that group or bothered, your kids may well be !! Watch and see , the divide and rule play out , while people gorge on reality TV ...
-
The air pressure due boost is not the issue , cylinder pressures during detonation can go into thousands of PSI , the engine does not instantly fail, the boost pressure is one of a few variables that cause peak cylinder pressure - compared with the pressure from combustion it is small . Det is the worry - and the rise of det with boost - hence fuel octane needed - or water injection as anti det Det is complex as a few things effect when it starts , some you can alter some not
