I worked on the lanc many years ago , you had to clamber over a spar half way up to the cockpit along the fuselage , doing this 30 times a day soon became a pain ... I did a bit on the engines too , and a magnificent noise they made even at idle power .

You have to laugh , a bazillion minis were kept on the road with a screwdriver ,matchbox strike for points and plug spanner , now 50 years on ,you need a specialist -progress !! -

You appear to have misfire on light loads and lower rpms , not as much on heavy loads or high rpms -right ? normally this is the opposite with ignition defects , but advance retard needs checking - a good old fashioned timing light helps here . worth checking your "new" carb , often air leaks past the shaft that holds the throttle plate at each end (there is a seal here or bush) there should be no play in the shaft -its a common wear point in the SU , cost about 1 groat ,as I remember -
Hi , got 2 myself , fine cars they are ! the early cars pre 93 are more problem prone and gearboxes can either be good/bad . what mileage and or service history ? this is critical if pushing power up . some would say a cheap na swap would be going backwards - lol

Given the cheap electronic costs - you could fit 2 small rear door cameras and 2 small TFT screens ,one each side , ie no wing mirrors at all and get change from the 420 quid !!!!! One 3 inch TFT in each A post base , camera blended into the hole where the mirrors were , no drag ,no heaters , no fold necessary , and zoom available as well as wide angle if you wished

I think there have been injector issues with the mondeo, they need re adjustment at dealers on routine service ,this seldom happens once cars are of an age , leads to overfuelling and injector and cats failing

Dinitrol AV8. Works a treat but a sod to get out of your hair , don't know price for a tin (we use it at work) probably expensive as it is good . Wet it leeches into gaps ,dry its a hard shell. A coat on shocks and they will never corrode. Only thing is the colour a brown which at a glance looks odd. In summary awesome diy product.

Using laminova also has 2 other advantages , you can use an independent heat rejection ,ie its own water system ,which adds massively to cooling and it can be selected on/off on demand
