When you press in the cig lighter , it's a big load i.e. It draws a lot of current , the cross connection , chafe or contact or wire is a high resistance and it drops off the voltage on ACC busbar . It could easily be something like an alarm fitted , as these often flash headlights (perm live) or hazards or horn (perm live),so an alarm relay can have both live and ACC on its contacts , sticking contact and boom , cross feed of power .... It's always a job to diagnose elect problems without the car in front of you and a meter to prod about with.

Dome ,rad ,fog ,abs ,haz/horn, efi 1 , Trac ,am2 , alt, and a couple more , you need to look at the wiring diagrams

As you have disconnected the ignition switch - and problem still exists , you are looking at a power feed from a chaffed wire , contact between power circuits . There are about 6 or 7 permanently live fuses , you need to pull one at a time and see which circuit is powering the ACC circuit , then use a meter on that feed to find the problem . If none of the live fuses are powering the ACC, then it's a battery feed ,and probably wrongly wired by owner -car alarm or such

Think beyond wrapping , there are now a large variety of carbon ,aramid , Kevlar mixes and aluminium , copper etc weaved with carbon - these can all be clear coated with dye in the clearcoat , the more coats the deeper the coloured translucent finish . This allows a rich palette and logo,s possible It's not cheap and labour intensive but has a more durable finish than paint and polishes to a high gloss finish and allows some great effects for a show car It would be a good addition to wrapping as a service to offer

There is a Volvo recall on the brake check valve -intermittent brake servo assist and pedal pressure - 2007 cars on -
Adaptor leads, round to oval are available , not that expensive , rebuild of alternators is possible but it's usually the center slip ring that's worn out and grooved - not easy or cheap to replace . "Uprated" alternators are available for a reasonable price , but they are not really uprated , any higher power output should also have greater cooling which would make them physically larger , they are not , also the windings would be larger (bigger alternator ) they are not , so they just alter the regulator system to provide more current and hopefully the brushes .-I have never had an issue with them . The alternators do not work much past 100,000 miles , it's just another of the supra running costs to be included

When you select D or R , the gearbox goes into second , then into first or reverse , to stop the car lurching , this is controlled by the brake pedal switch , its also possible someone has shimmed the gearbox actuators to quicken the shift change at some point -there are other possibilities -usually the fluid levels and colour are start points

The majority of hydrogen is from natural gas , electrolysis only 4 % of production - Batteries mean weight and recharging , not having pistons and complex mechanical parts that wear and break or generating heat to produce motive force give a reliabilty and efficiency benefit -there is no reason a motor could not run 10 million miles , magnetic bearings:brushless and so forth. no noise , low vibration and a torque curve that is more or less vertical then horizontal and infinitely variable . Motors in wheel keeps the weight distribution spread and center of gravity low - heavy battery installation is a current issue with elec cars . If you self drive is another question , of course a drone type system would outdrive anyone - safety or fun ? -

Given another 23 years - its highly likely that electric motor technology will have advanced and hydrogen cell technology - small hydrogen cells will allow fill ups around the country , exactly like petrol today , using maybe 5 or 10 kg of hydrogen for 500 miles or so and the motors capable of providing unlimited torque , enough torque to pull the tyres off the rims !!!! Maybe add a small battery set for even more torque , so normal drivng under hydrogen and if you wanted say 2000 ft lb of torque for overtaking - there it is in an instant - after use ,the batteries recharge as you drive .they will be mental fast if you want them to be Any advances in superconductivity would simply make them faster and lighter again ...... If manufacturers are forced to make electric cars , the technology will only grow at a faster pace -
You say you have a voltage at the coil + ,constant -have you checked this during cranking ? what is the voltage ? -Its possible that during cranking with the ignition switch turned , you are dropping volts , so the ignition coil, ignition unit and 6 coils all have low volts - the ignition switch contacts can easily cause this Try a direct positive wire battery to the coil positive and then start .-bypassing the ignition switch your ignition ring light is controlled via the integration relay this also controlls the personal light and the door key cylinder light -these should also be on - fade control in the integration unit or door switch problem also disconnect the capacitor -noise supression . From here you need to do some simple voltage checks and fuse volts drops - corroded fuses can cause problems dropping volts on load . hope this helps

Does your tacho move during cranking? and have you disconnected the capacitor in case its shorting to earth ? -lastly do you have a fluke meter or similar ?

The engine was originally paired with the soarer dash - this is a digital dash and totally different to the supra one , the self test diagnosis is similar but the soarer displays in alpha numerical display and you step through the various systems , suspension, gear box , abs , efi and so on using a button on the dash - it shows OK or NG (no good ) and a code . The supra flashes the red light and you count . You will get neither . The car starts / runs so looms must be pretty close for compatibility , but there only needs to be one wire that isn't compatible and it will cause you issues - something like a stray 12v on the cranking input to the ECU , maybe a difference in the park/ neutral switch wiring

Check pin 13 on ecu - black wire , should be 12v only during cranking . Have you messed around with the looms ? What's NA and what's 1jz loom wise ?

Have you done dozens of cold starts , never letting the engine get to temp ( not unusual if playing around fitting things / testing/ chasing leaks/ ) hence fuel in oil ? What mpg are you getting? 28-30 O2 sensor is ok ,18-20 O2 is fubar (car still runs well) - adds to over fuel problem Check hose lines and correct routing - lots of them! Try another map sensor ( there is no MAF) they can vary quite a lot - used one is ok

Thinking aloud and as an excercise in probability , derv cars will run on heating oil , but heating oil is lower SG and has less oil content so some cars would have more difficulty starting ( unless you added cetane booster , like those available on ebay , as a guess a capfull would suffice) Oil could be added to heating oil , to act as a lubricant for the fuel pump which would have a reduced lifespan as it's fuel lubricated or certain model derv cars have hp pumps driven of the cam ( so engine oil lubricated And don't need the oil added ) Vw PD engines or volvo D5 would fall into this category . Dye is added to heating oil and is easily detected if you were stopped and dipped by hm customs and excise , this would incur a £500 fine and possible confiscation of the car and at current detection rates you would be pulled about every 236 years , so be warned !! Given the mighty fine uses that the govt puts tax revenue to , and the large corporation willingness to contribute ,it's obvious that the moral high ground lies with just paying the duty .

Often the studs offered are wrong - they have the wrong shank taper , you can pull them in but use too much force to do so - this over stresses the studs - close but not carling

Modern dual clutch gearboxes cater for different criteria - diesel cars , direct injection cars or sports cars with narrower torque bands - these all need lots of gears , the main efficiency gains over a traditional autobox is there is not torque converter to turn and large movement of hydraulic fluid . The Supra isn't torque shy or have a limited rev range and has power to spare - so it can run a torque converter . The torque converter costs to run , it sucks down fuel , I'm not bothered by that because it performs magic ........it multiplies torque . 2nd to 4th with only 2 shifts gives a Hugh range of speed and the kick down is "savage" "kick in the back" - due in part to the multiplication of torque . Try kicking down an auto on the dyno and see what happens - ha ha If people wish to spend £4000 to go manual , for their own reasons crack on , but performance isn't one of the reasons , you may still be behind to the old school slush box - lol
