  1. I know what you mean, this is why I went for an insurance company that offer comprehensive trackday cover. Speaking the the insurance company earlier, apparently less and less companies are offering trackday cover now, due to your very reason and the fact that claims have risen sharply over the last few years.
  2. I'm booked to do Croft and Knockhill this weekend through bookatrack.com. I recently changed insurer to Livingstone Insurance who specialise in Cherished Cars like ours and offer for a small addtional pemium trackday cover on their policies which is great. I spoke to them today (really helpful) to confirm how the cover in inforced and their underwritters state that as long as a trackday is santioned by the club then your covered. This is apparently now quite common with insurance companies. I think this cover also extends to any club organised event, but it must be mentioned and santioned on the clubs website for cover to be valid. Some of other club websites have a dedicated area for listing up and coming trackdays which the club would santion (ie organised by a reputable companies like bookatrack.com) so members can add their names if they're going and generally discuss the event. Do we have anything like that on here? Do you think it would be a good idea?
  3. I'm well excited!! A mate and I are doing a double header at the end of the month. Going from Bristol to Croft to do a trackday on 30th then on up to Knockhill on 31st!! The trip alone will be over 900 miles, so been trying to get the car in the best possible position for it, new brakes are bedding in well, had a full service done buying all the bits myself and last week got all the wheels balanced and tracking done. Anything else I should be thinking about?
  4. A mate and I are booked to do a track day at Croft at the end of August and from there my mate then wants to go on to Knockhill to do it all again the day after. With limited funds I can only stretch to Croft but am going to Knockhill as a passenger with him. The big favour I'm after is I was wondering if there are any members around Penrith to Carlisle (M6/A74) that may have some parking space that I could leave my Supra with them for 2 nights, rather than just leaving it somewhere random? By doing this I can pick the car back up on the way down heading back to Bristol. Plans may change but if anyone can help I'd much appreciate it. Cheers.
  5. Well what ever happens in the club, stays in the club as they say I'll be heading over that way today with my rabble anyway as I've arranged to meet a mate in Chppenham. Hope you get a better response for next Saturday!! See everyone in July at some point.
  6. Where's everybody gone, summer hols!!!!? No worries, if not this Saturday, I'm off to a wedding next weekend, so hope to catch up with everyone in July.
  7. Hi all, I'll be there all being well. There is a possability that me and the mrs are doing a Car Boot, but I don't reckon we'll get it together in time!! I'll let you know a bit later in the week for def. Cheers Kieran.
  8. black !! You didn't say that the other day after I did mine!!!!! . My car's black so the stock colour seemed right to me, also too many 1.0L Corsa's with badly painted red calipers and drums bombing about!!! http://www.testpilot.co.uk/supra/optim8Disc1.jpg
  9. Thanks for the replys. I'll take mine off today and see how it goes. Definetly gotta be better without them!!!
  10. OK, I've replaced my Discs, Pads, Spigot Rings and had my wheel balanced I was hoping my steering wheel would of lost it's shakes at about 80 leptons. Now it is better that it was but warped discs wouldn't of helped that, but I am still getting some shaking. Now I have ASA wheels fitted and also have those rubbish looking 3mm spacers which probably fit most 5 studded wheels (definetly not hubcentric). So my question, if you see below with the spacers I have 5mm between the wheel and the caliper. Do you think I could drop the spacer all together leaving me 2mm between the wheel and caliper? Is this too close? Surely with everything up tight it should never get closer than 2mm other than a bit of heat expansion? Just think if the wheel sat flat on the hub, the spigot ring would do it's job and everything may be happier? http://www.testpilot.co.uk/supra/optim8Spacer.jpg
  11. Cheers Dunk, Appreciate your advice, another trip to Halfords it is then:). That cleaner won't eat into my nice new paint job will it?
  12. Eeeeek, you got me paranoid now... Might have another closer look tonight!!!
  13. Cheers Dnk. I visually checked the outer boots and they all seems fine, i.e no apparent perishing or leaks. I didn't completely strip the calipers down, perhaps I'll look at getting a seal kit at at some point.
  14. I actually painted them. Halfords do some high temp engine paint for about £8. It's pretty thin so you need to do a few coats to get coverage, but it does mean you don't get the brush marks. I did about 3 coats to get the finish. If only!!!!, just the fronts I'm afraid. Haven't got a price for the rears as yet. I need to evaulate my rears first as at a quick glance they don't look too bad.
  15. Cheers for the positive comments, going to make a start on the rears next week!! Yep OEM discs, got them from Steve Manley for just over £140 delivered. I was expecting to pay a lot more so well happy.
  16. Evening all, Just thought I'd share with you my UK Brake over haul I've been doing. I gone for new UK Discs and CW Fast Road Pads, Braided Hoses and RBF600 Fluid. I also cleaned the calipers up while I was at it, repainted them and fitted new Decal Stickers that I got off ebay. The almost stock look may not be everyones taste but I'm well pleased with the finished result and once they're all beded in should have some pretty good braking, something I've not had to date. http://www.testpilot.co.uk/supra/optim8Disc1.jpg http://www.testpilot.co.uk/supra/optim8Disc2.jpg
  17. Great thanks all for the info. Did try to move the move the nuts tonight with no joy . I was using the wheel nut wrench as well seeing as it was 17mm. Very very tight in there. My mates got a air gun on his van so might see if I can get him to pop over at some point!! Both disc are moveable so no worries there, just need to get the caliper nut shifting!!
  18. I bought some replacement UK discs last week and looking to fit them. Got the wheels off last night and the discs seem fairly free so should come off pretty easy. My pads are fine as only fitted them about 300 miles ago, so can I simply undo the caliper retaining bolts pull them off to one side and swap the disc overs? Will the caliper pistons start moving once free from the existing disc? Do the caliper retaining bolts need to be torqued up or just tight? Appologies if I'm asking stupid questions in here!!!
  19. I like the wheels as they are. Stock Spoiler though.
  20. I did a track day in mine a month back, it was my first in the Supra and used MANU mode all day. It was actually a lot more fun that I imagined, even though once your rollling you pretty much only use 2 and D. Mine's a TT but I'm guessing it would be the same in an N/A. I did have some issues with steering wheel shake on the day but spoke to Chris W earlier this week and got some ideas on that one (cheers Chris).
  21. Lovely looking motor mate, looks like you got a real bargain there. I particularly like those rims, but maybe that's because I've got the same ones on mine!!! Cheers.
  22. Hi Guys, would of loved to of come along but got dragged out to Spain on holiday, you know how it is!! Hope to see all you guys at Japfest. Cheers Kieran.
  23. Thanks for the replys so far. I had new tyres fitted last weekend and had the wheels rebalanced at the same time. The problem was there prior to this. I also got the whole front end of the car checked out last Friday and other than the potential shock problem and the warped disk nothing else was found to be wrong. I guess I'll get the disks done first and re-evaluate after that. Right pain with this great weather I just want to be out driving!!!
  24. Got a really strange problem with the car. Driving home on the M5at about 70mph (Cruise Control On) and my steering wheel goes from almost nothing to real crazy shaking and then back to almost notihng again. This happens on about a 15 second cycle. Anybody have an ideas what the hell is going on here? I have had my discs checked and they are apparently warped so I do have a new set on order but surely warped discs wouldn't cause this sort of behavior. I have also had my subframe bolts, bushes, etc.. checked and they are all fine. I do however have a knocking from one of my shocks. Any suggestions much appreciated.
