Last fri, 14th You'd stopped at some lights and I was next to you, had a chat about the car, I asked you if it was a UK and then cried a little inside as I remembered my old one lol Forgot to ask if you were a member here!

sold Toyota Supra UK 1995 (N), Blue, Automatic
leonardjon replied to mawby's topic in Supra Classifieds
Wow good price and just shows that these engines can go the distance! Good luck with the sale - not that you'll need it! Seems a very honest ad -
Brilliant, thanks for your honesty The car is still running with the original sensors so are probably a bit overdue a change based on mileage then. I did notice a fair increase in fuel consumption over a time too but that could be just me imagining things. I may be in touch!

Is that to say that the OEM Toyota ones are generally better quality? In terms of lifespan etc given the difference in cost? Also, would using generic ones affect the ability to use the genuine toyota ones again in the future - or would you just need to re-solder?
-
Well that quote was from Toyota (Steve Manley) The UK Spec has 2 sensors as I'm aware?# I saw the thread(s) where Nic had them at around £80, but would that be for UK spec too? In any case, that wouldn't be till some point in the new year

Been quoted £320+VAT delivered for both sensors for my UK TT6... any other alternatives or is that about the normal price?
-
Could also have been me if it was White, M Reg... Seems all the Supra's go to Metallica gigs

Good to know, thanks I'm guessing I can find information for pin outs for the ABS and injectors and things in the Tech Info section? Quick question in regard to the dat files - are they specific to each car or are they pre-defined 'templates' ?
-
Thanks for the advice Didn't think to look for fitting instructions online doh! That's useful, thanks Seems straightforward but pretty involved...if that makes sense!? Are there any differences or things worth noting between Jspec and UK spec installation procedures? ...Steve - I saw your FS thread when I was scouting around earlier, yh PM

Can anyone recommend me someone who could supply and/or fit this, I have done a bit of reading around and it seems that the best option for my car would be the standard unit for ABS with Launch Control (RLTC6AL) ?? Also, in regard to fitting, is it something that could be a DIY job (I'm pretty competant with soldering and electronics and have fitted all the audio in my supe) What else is involved? And, is it worth buying new or is 2nd hand ok? Cheers

Thats the kind of feedback I'm after! I know its a lot of questions, just figured a single thread would keep it all in one place but I see your point Hmm yes I did wonder if it would be the right thing to do on a UK, are there many other UK singles around? Is the stock fuel side of things ok at that level - looking around, a lot of people change things like rails, fpr etc. As for fitting, it depends - I haven't thought that far ahead - (recommendations?) - I can do most of the electrical stuff (gauges etc) but one question I did have was that if I fitted the fuel system side of things, is the car still drivable on the stock ECU?

Well, I'm taking the Supra off the road for the winter soon and following the boost issue I had previously, I had the guys at Garage 786 take a look at things. All vaccuum lines seemed to be in place, no split hoses etc, BOV ok, accessable actuators and VSVs all ok. The only thing that couldn't be tested was the boost controller solenoid as there wasn't a replacement to hand to swap test! Ash reckoned that this was very unlikely to be at fault though. The next step was going to be taking the turbos out and checking the rest of the system and I didn't fancy going through the work 'only' to end up at BPU still.... So, that in mind, started looking at going single, not right now but at some point next year hopefully - just planning out what the best route to go is. Done a lot of reading on the forum and other places. So far, I've been looking at the T67 based kits from PHR and BL (not sure on DBB or non DBB). Also looked at the HKS T04Z but that seems pretty expensive for the same sort of thing? I'll be looking to upgrade the fuel system (rail, afr, injectors 720 or 850cc? fpr, filter, dual pumps etc), and was again looking at the PHR and BL kits. Other bits I am not sure about are: Oil Cooler +Relocation?? Required?? Clutch - Recommendations?? Gauges (EGT, AFR, Boost, Oil Pressure) Defi?? EMS - AEM ?? Mapping ?? MAP Sensor ?? Cams -Required?? Just need some opinions on the above kit - is it all required, what's good, what's not! Is there anything else that I need that I have missed? Am I going about things the right way? lol Going by the rest of the current spec as in my Garage, would a range of 550-650bhp be sensible/achievable on this sort of setup? I'd like to have a sort of low and high setting through the boost controller bearing in mind that the car would be used on the road, semi-regularly during the better weather months! Wow, thats a lot of questions! Thanks in advance though

Yeah look like Axis Hiro? I have them on my Supe

I have the same chrome bits and my left one flaps too! I tried a few different glues but they all failed after a while - interested to know what recommendations there are!

Update: not been able to do a pressure test yet but I have seen the IACV and EGCV arms moving and they seem to be working as they should be. So is that to say I can safely rule out the sequential system side of things? Can hear the exhaust note change and feel a slight power increase when the 2nd turbo comes online and there is still just a minor increase in acceleration. Boost controller is still only showing about 0.8 or 0.9 when 2nd turbo is online Any other possibles? Boost controller solenoid perhaps?
-
Nice link, thanks. Will try that soon hopefully. Mini bump - any other suggestions?
-
Its an aftermarket alu rad as far as I know, no signs of leaks from the rad itself, though it is kinda hard to tell!
-
Ok, just put the system in parallel mode (sounds quite beefy and smoother!!) but still not boosting over 0.9 bar! Also tried revving the engine from the engine bay to see if the IACV arm moves but couldn't see it moving at any point in the range (I think I went up to around 4k..!) I'm out of ideas now lol
-
Ok...well have taken the VSV off and connecting it to 12V doesn't really do anything - I can hear a very quiet 'clunk' - what should/shouldn't happen? edit: just done some checks with the multimeter and I think its working as it should be, what is there to try next?
-
Thanks for the replys, I have taken a look at the IACV and the arm seems to be moving freely. Will check the VSV - assuming its just a case of disconnecting the two small pipes and the electrical connector to get it off?

Opened my engine bay to find a nice spray of coolant on the hoses and surrounding area. Seems like it has either dripped onto the belt or fan and been sprayed around - much like in this thread! http://mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=183144&highlight=coolant I have undone and re-fitted the top rad hose and there were no signs of leakage at all there. Also took it to Toyota and one of the guys had a quick look around with a torch and mirror and suggested it may be the water pump that's leaking When the engine is running i have looked from all angles (except under the car) and cannot see any leaks but there is clearly a very occasional splatter going on. Any ideas? Seems like problems are like buses, coming in twos =/

Hi people, my first post in this section as its the first issue I've had since owning the car! Basically, its not boosting to 1.2bar as it used to. The first turbo spools up and comes online with no problems that I can tell, but when I get to 4k rpm where the 2nd comes online, I can feel a slight kick but my boost controller is only reporting 0.8 or 0.9bar rather than the 1.2 it used to do quite happily before and its definately not the kick it should be for BPU. I don't notice any smoke or anything from the exhaust when driving and I have looked a couple of times for any split or broken hoses but can't seem to see anything immediately obvious. Turbos don't seem to make any abnormal noises - just the normal whistling and air being drawn in and the BOV seems to be operating normally... Any ideas what could be wrong? Its frustrating!

On Upper Hanover Street Dual Carriageway - just past the speedcamera. Didn't notice you till you had pulled level lol, world of my own. Really like the wheels!
