I'd say first look at some basics like ensuring your brakes are well bled and the master cylinder seals are good, the TT supra has some of the best stock brakes in the world and it sounds like there is something off. Massive brake upgrades look awesome but will problably do very little to shorten your stopping distance, what they allow is repeatabillity long after the stock system would have become heat soaked and faded. Do you have stainless brake lines, they made a massive difference in the pedal feel on mine for not much money. Trust Chris, a set of upgraded pads discs and lines on the stock system should be all a street car really needs.

    Every bit of it on my own. A properly tuned car would problably get better mpg so the supra might go from horrible to just terrible mpg. Once I drove at 120 kph on a 100 km run and got 36 mpg.

    Having owned several cars I can honestly say the NA supra is one of the EASIEST cars in the world to work on. Tons of room in the engine bay to work, Simple and effective suspension design and well thought out layout. Since I have bought it absolutely no one else has worked on it but me and it's been stellar. the only things that have needed replacement on it were To give you an idea of running costs Electric window switch (20 pounds on here) Stater solenoid rebuild (10 euro in parts from toyota guide on here) Alternator (300 Euro from toyota) Front Brake calipers sticking (Replaced with ls 400 brakes for 220 US dollars) Radiator (130 euro on ebay) Front lower ball joints wich require the whole a arm to be replaced (535 Euro from toyota) Shocks (350 US dollars) Crank pully (replaced with a 30 dollar ebay solid one 2 years and 70,000 kilometers ago) Distributor gasket (2 euro) Valve cover gasket (20 dollars) on my 3rd set of discs and pads 2nd set of plugs and distributor cap 2nd timing belt and 13 oil changes 4 transmission oil changes 3 sets of tires and about 35,000 liters of petrol. this is over 6 years and 170,000 kms I bought the car in 2008 with 138,000 kms on the clock I'll be over 280k kms by the end of the month other than fuel no car has ever cost me so little to run.
  4. be very carefull getting the pan off, there is a spot for insererting a blade to break the seal. it is aluminum and bends easy and if you bend it it will leak. Thie filter is a peice of cake.

    This being said a good condition supra is as reliable as the day is long. however being 20 years old some things will require replacing like ball joints which are not cheap! I average 18-20 mpg in my NA and that is the single biggest cost of ownership.
  6. the filter is just a metal screen type thing, changed it on a 200,000 k autobox and it was spotless, won't ever be changing it again tbh. the only ways you will hurt your box is during an oil change are A: put the wrong type of fluid in B: not putting enough oil in, as already mentioned, the level needs to be checked with the car running at operating temperature on level ground and after cycling through all gears. If not abused it is one of the best most reliable auto boxes on the planet.

Make sure you get an induction kit too http://www.importtuner.com/powerpages/impp_0105_1997_toyota_supra/ import tunner made 3.2 extra ponies with one all in all +22 automatic whp from a catback, cone air filter and an AFC neo is not bad for the investment.
  8. I have a full obx mid mipe and cat back exhaust and it is loud! Scott87s mod of the stock exhaust is a better choice and problably much cheaper especially if you can weld yourself!
  9. here is a pic of my obx fitted you can clearly see where tou have to dent the collector about 2mm or so. Jut get it red hot with a torch and 2-3 thwaps with a hammer will do And you will need to change to 1 wire screw in o2 sensors, which you can also see in the pic
  10. can definately confirm the parking brake isn't hooked up to anything on the trans, my girlfried drove hers for about 100 miles with it on and wondered why it wouldn't hold the car anymore:blink: Both those plugs to the shifter have to be connected for the transmission to work. I didn't know there were different plugs either. Post a pic up and I'll see if i have the plug on an arristo loom I have been stripping for connectors, you can have it for postage only.
  11. looks like you will need the auto loom mate, I have a spare loom that I am hesistant to part with as it is in better shape than my original loom and I meant to replace it a while ago but decided that if it wasn't broke i wasn't going to fix it. So in the remote possiblity you cant get one let me know.
  12. I'll be driving my new daily driver Lexus IS200 sport home with my camera. At 153 hp and about the same weight as a supra don't expect me to keep him in view long!
  13. This, there is one big connector that is all of the control stuff and two speed sensors Mine is an NA but I am pretty sure, externaly anyways, tt and na boxes are very smilar
  14. Supra auto boxes need the ecu connected as gear selection is electronic not manual For example I can pop it into 2 at over 120kph and it will hold 3rd gear untill my revs drop below 6800 to shift down. Also tc lock up is managed by the ecu.

  16. NA auto is a nice cruiser, a hell of alot less power than the chassis can handle makes it very forgiving to drive.
  17. I even like the wings on mine, un painted it looks like it should have come from the factory that way.
  18. Sounds like situation normal for a wankel motor Sorry couldn't resist. Hope you get it sorted. When I was studing engineering we came to wankel motors and the instructor said "The wankel is a great idea, but there is a reason why less than 1/10th of one percent of engines in the world are rotary, just ask anyone who owned one." Are there any common engine swaps in an rx-8? Drove one and the chassis was brilliant it's a shame pefect shells get scrapped daily because of the motor.
  19. Really? will have to look that up. if so he'd probably be ok as it was what maybe 5 liters of petrol mixed with over 50 of diesel?
  20. I have them on both my white and silver supras. Unpainted ftw. plus when you do hit something with it the urethane will flex and remain undamaged. the paint will crack and look like crap
  21. almost did this once with my skyline, fortunately noticed after 1.5 liters. filled the remaining tank with petrol and it ran fine. maybe even smother than ever. I would be careful putting that diesel in the merc as it is contaminated with petrol. Diesel in a petrol motor is embarrsing but petrol in a diesel motor melts things. Lady I used to work with filled a diesel with petrol and snapped a rod in the motor!

  25. Alot of miles tend to fall of the boat and disapear into the depths as the cars come from japan. My Girlfriends 94 j spec has a uk odo on it lising around 115k miles so i have absolutely no clue how much it has really done.
