  1. Hi Chaps I too have posted about this problem some time ago. I have now got my VVTi KMH to MPH and delimiter sorted (the VVTi has a host of electronics that are incompatible with the usual convertors). Unfortunately the "kicking down into the red in top" issue is still there - and the only way I can control it is by not totally flooring it in top. Pete Betts sorted the electronics out by making a specially tweaked unit of his - but we have yet to solve the kick down issue! R
  2. Fraid I don't know if this is possible or not - I know the Tipto has a load of electronics and different ECU ins and outs (ask Pete Betts!) - I still have an FTO which was Tiptronic already, but I got some Infra Red transponders to transfer up and down shifting to buttons on my hand controls (were designed for wireless wheel mounting really) - so - dunno ??? Do you drive with your left hand only, and no right? Would you have enough fingers / dexterity / grip to hold the wheel, turn it (I use a steering knob for quick turning requirements) as well as clicking buttons? In my set up I brake / accellerate and half hold the wheel with my right hand - main steering and wheel holding is accomplished with my left - also up and down shifting is easy - so hopefully you wouldnt have a prob! It's like a fekkin Playstation with a steering wheel :-) R
  3. Hey ditto - what's your damage dude? Although I went for the Tip - and to remain on topic I must say I LOVE IT - blipping and holding and cruising and exhaust popping with split second shifting FUN! R
  4. Leon reckons on around an hour. R
  5. Also - with Tiptronic you can often hold it in a lower gear until the correct time for optimal boost wastage . . . I would think! R
  6. Hmm okay- I thought that was it - but two way didnt seem to make sense - perhaps to a Japanese person :-)

    oil?

Prolly done to death - but what oil do people use? Depend on level of tune? R
  8. Answer me this peeps - On my Cam cover is says "3000 VVTI two way Twin Turbo" (or something similar) What is or are "two way"? R
  9. That's what's odd - I always change using the buttons too - but even when in M mode, and opening throttle fully in top the little f****r STILL changes down into the redline until I ease off. R
  10. "Power mode" - whats this? I dont seem to have this button on my VVTi? R
  11. What about me? Don't I get a mention - WAAAAAH! R
  12. Hi again! Funny I have the same prob in my VVTi - but only if I have a passenger. I am getting the subframe bolts re-torqued when Leon does some work for me within the next few days (waiting for bits!) See bottom half of this page R
  13. I thought all this too - it could be a dodgy kmh to miles conversion. I am getting that ripped out and a TRL speedo conversion done very shortly, so I will let you know if that helps! R
  14. Peter from TRL is a good bet Betts. (scuse pun) http://Http://www.trlperformance.com R
  15. It seems you are correct. I rand Leon and he said that if the car demonstrated boost spikes then he drops in a drilled restrictor plate - keeping the boost down to stock - then you can wind it up with the boost controller. Cool. R
  16. Thanks guys - all made sense. But I still think its bad logic on the Supes behalf - changing down into the rev limiter is bad under any circumstance IMHO! Far better to have clever logic that says "oh I better hadnt do that and continue to accelerate in top" R
  17. Hmm interesting - although I thought the gear-select would have gone off gearbox rather than road speed? R
  18. Problem 1: You didn't say so but I bet you a tenner you were very low on fuel when you performed your multi-kill. I had EXACTLY the same problem (although it was at 145!) - and thought it was fuel cut - but mine is stock so wouldnt have got to that level, and I haven't been able to replicate since. I have spoken to a couple of others with same issue - and it always happened at low fuel levels - vapour pocket? R
  19. Well I have been to see Leon and he showed me some custom 3" downpipes that he flogs (not Wison specials!) - and I plan to do a full de-cat He raves about them but what concerns me is that I dont want to always run up to my boost limit for stock TTs all the time. So - if I went for these swanky 3" jobbies and went for a full de-cat - would't I be able to control the boost (ie. keep it lower, even down to standard levels) with a Boost Controller - then just whack it up when its funtime? Or am I effectively going to be maxing out all the time with a full-decat and 3" DPs, boost controller or not? R
  20. Hello folks I have now had my motor for 4 weeks and am STILL trying to get my head around a "feature" of the Tiptronic system. I thought that when in "M" mode (ie. the steering wheel buttons control the gear shifting) that the gearbox would not seem to still have a mind of it's own. On my FTO (which I should really get around to selling!) when in Tiptronic mode the gearbox would stay in the gear it was told, unless I came to a standstill and it shifted to 1st - as it should. On the Supe say when I am in Top, and in "M" mode at about 3-5,000 revs and I floor it you wouldhave thought the engine would take the strain and keep in top to simply just accellerate normally. Instead it shifts down to 3rd and INTO THE RED ABOVE THE REV LIMITER! Surely this is totally arse about face, and it makes for embarrasing and possibly unsafe high speed overtaking on dual carriageways at that sort of speed (120?) Shouldn't flooring at these revs simply accellerate and not shift down when doing so thus above the rev limiter? Is this a prob, a feature or what? Anyone else experience the same? R
  21. Okay folks - I have heard conflicting info as to the best custom or otherwise downpipes to get for late TTs (VVTi too) What are peoples views on this - pros / cons of options below: Custom CW downpipes Larger 3" custom downpipes Off the shelf downpipes Cheers! R
  22. Thanks for a good input Pete. Where are you based - and do you fit stuff? Just I'm in a wheelchair so can't reach most areas of the enginebay. Cheers R
  23. Hi folks My recent import's speedo seems to be slightly inaccurate (I know this is usual) - but on my last import vehicle, after the kmh to mph conversion it was spot on (both measured with a GPS) It's reading about 100 when doing 92.5mph at the moment. Anyone know how to calibrate more closely? (okay, okay, call me a stickler) R
  24. WOW someone who doesn't think I am crazy! Thats a good idea - I'll check the joints at the back of the bulb itself (or connector at least) It has worked once or twice - and no I didnt get a warning triangle at any point. But thanks - I'll check it out and let you know! All I have to do now is figure out how to get behind the lighting unit - any bright sparkies out there? R
  25. okay, is it a 7.5A fuse originally? R
