  1. Lol. No, my markings stop at 180, but there are various little pointers like the corner of the mph sticker, a mark on the plastic in the front etc. that can be lined up with the needle at the time and extrapolated when you have time later - assuming linear response, but then it's only a smidge over really. Overclocking engineers trick that! I seem to remember my dad telling me similar stories when testing jet engines at Rolls Royce - only those things are measured by how long the flames get, once you go off the scale. R
  2. I've had mine at 187 indicated, just not WOT, but a fraction off. You learn to live with it just be more subtle - still max boost etc., and I think it's a "feature" rather than a problem. But am willing to be proven wrong :-) R
  3. Mine does the same, even after the personal Pete Betts treatment. Still think it's the delimiter / conversion? R
  4. I had same prob when I first got my VVTi Didn't know if it was the DOME or ALT-S - so I left it in and just switched it off on the dash. R
  5. I had same prob when I first got my VVTi Didn't know if it was the DOME or ALT-S - so I left it in and just switched it off on the dash. R
  6. We talking wheels or crank here? R
  7. Yar - this is doing my nut now! I got these wheels cos I wanted to keep all the offsets the same as standard so I would keep the handling spot on but with more rubber. So - I am hoping I can get this issue sorted, in my head and on the road. Thanks for input chaps - I will get some more exact info on the alloys and return R
  8. f*ck, I am a numbskull. I just re-read my post and they are scraping the OUTER arches, where the little lip is. They have both been rolled in and still I get the odd little scrape every now and again when getting fruity. Sorry if I mislead anyone - I am a dunce. Anyway - I shall obtain some more info on the wheels - I definitely dont need spacers as that would push them out even further! I *think* the offset is 50 (mm?) - but waiting for confirmation R
  9. Thanks for that file - looks useful, all I gotta do is understand it now. I got 10.5"s on the rear. What's the best way of obtaining the offset just by looking at the wheels? I am waiting for the original owner to get back to me in the meantime - it is gone midnight admitedly :-) R
  10. yes, yes, sorry for lack of info! The suspension is absolutely stock. I can't recall what the offsets were - but I was told they were perfect for the Supe - I will find out the exact figs shortly. R
  11. Pete - doesn't that place opposite Leon's do proper laser alignment? I think I may be up there myself soon cos I have a camber prob methinks. R
  12. Hi folks I just got some TRD alloys of another board member. We have been racking our brains because the rears are scraping the inner wheel arches over heavy bumps in the road. It's okay 95% of the time but its always there at the back of my head - taking the edge off some driving experiences. I have rolled the arches in as tightly as we can get them - but still I get the odd little scrape when going quick or over slight bumps under heavy load to one side (especially if I have a passenger) Rears - 285 30 ZR 18s The offsets should be perfect for the car - they are TRD. The left rear camber is slightly greater than the right - and the right catches more frequently. When the old wheels came off (Jspec 16 inchers) the left rear wheel was virtually bald on the inside. Could be camber, could also be toe / tracking. Any advice - should this be happening at all - I haven't read of anyone elses 18's scraping the arches in this way. The car's handling is still very good so I know the wheels are right - just this damn scrape. Thanks a lot for any help! R
  13. I would be interested in getting the technical low down on all this. I am considering raising the settings in my boost controller to rectify - but could this cause problems with fuelling (too rich / lean) I suppose I would have to drop them again on cooler runs. Do people have hot and cold settings? Tell all! R
  14. Hi folks My first couple of "hot" days with my supe. Normally SBCed up to 1.25+ on a cooler day. (uprated fuel pump and Optimax so all ok) Could barely make 1.1 even giving it some serious stick today. Is this normaly behaviour for the blowers? I would be interested to know the dynamics of this - as I would have thought boost pressure would be the same, but oxygen density would be lower perhaps. Any simple explanations please! R
  15. "Spoiler" is the correct word here. Sorry IMO :-) R
  16. Ok - and are they known for failing - (causing my noise probs posted in another thread) Is there an info resource anywhere, or someone who happens to know this stuff? Thanks R
  17. VSV . . . eh, elaborate dear scribe. please! R
  18. These sound feasbile - BOV could be the culprit. What pressure is the standard JSPEC one rated to? R
  19. Hi folks Posted about this a few weeks back - still not got to the bottom of it. I am gonna get Leon to have a butchers / listen but thought I'd try my luck here again first. Basically, when coming off a sustained and heavy boost on the second turbo - dropping down past 5K revs, in 4th mainly, but also in 3rd to a lesser degree I get a really unpleasant engine noise. It grows from a quite rasping noise, grows in volume to something not ulkike a WWWII spitfire engine sound - its in synch with the engine revs, and quitens off again after a few seconds as I let off the gas. If I push the boost back up again (throttle) (have only risked this a couple of times) it increases slighty then sometimes 'pops' - like a vent shutting. It seems to be the left side of the engine (as you look fwd) - and kind of sounds like plastic fan catching on metal, or a diaphragm flapping, or even just a piece of plastic flapping against someting - but its not speed dependent - but revs. Thought about dumpvalves, cams, belts all sorts - cant place it and cant immediately see anything loose (although I cant really get a proper look) Odd I know - and REALLY bugging me now - enough to stay off the second blower for serious time. R
  20. thanks chap - I looked under the settings bit, but the figures and terms still made no sense to me! May call if no-one posts here with links or further explanations! R
  21. Hi folks Can someone explain in simple terms the settings available for this boost controller (gain, other figs, scramble) and what they actually MEAN? Also the diff between Auto / Manual mode, also peak hold etc. Plus the need for four Channels? Thanks in advance! R
  22. Haven't quite decided yet - but whatever I do I will certainly match up all round for the best stopping power :-) Thanks for the reminder . . . R
  23. Yup totally agree. I am thinking about some special biggies - but I am just waiting for a certain person to get my bloomin new 18's sorted first . . . :-) R
