  1. Terminator, the greatest movement is at the rear of the car while driving in straight line:D . Seriously though, with the wheel jacked off the ground, i could detect play by grabbing the wheel on opposite sides and pulling and pushing simultaneously, in both horizontal and vertical movements - not a huge amount, certainly no more 1mm at the rim. Best thing about all this? I checked it again today and there's STILL movement there! Car goes back in again on Friday, just hope they get it right this time. Jes.
  2. Anyway, so I got the thing replaced last Friday, and I now wish to claim my prize for owning the most expensive wheel bearing in activity, having been charged the not-so-bargain price of.......................wait for it...................£480!!!!!!!!!!!!! Shock, horror:eek: I have a feeling that may be the last time my friendly Toyota dealer sees my particular car . Just hope the other one lasts a little longer:mad:
  3. Cheers Chris, yeah took it along to my local thieves' den (Toyota Dealer) this morning and they confirmed my suspicions, and a new bearing is to be fitted next Friday, but 'I'm sorry sir, we can't estimate the cost because it's an import'. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! Why do they always say that? Hey Dude, were you previously dudersvr who used to post on the Aprilia RiderSite? Jes.
  4. Quick question: are the rear wheel bearings on the J-spec adjustable, or does detectable wear mean replacing with new?
  5. I've also done a little searching for pads for J-specs, and the best I've come up with are SBS carbon ceramics. Call a company called Questmead, and ask for Alan Brown. The pad number is 3058. Cost inc. VAT and p&p is £99. These pads are fine for circuit use, I did 200 miles at Bedford Autodrome last weekend, and they're only about half-worn. For road use the SBS carbon pads are ok, but they overheat on the circuit. Same pad no. cost about 15 quid less. Jes.
  6. Thanks everybody, I guess the Toyota route is probably the way to go, at least to get a basis for further experiment. Has anybody who's had a Toyota set-up used their car on a circuit? Was it any good? Did excessive udersteer rear its ugly head? Done two trackdays recently, current set-up works pretty well, turns in on command, understeer really only noticeable when turning in too fast on a trailing throttle. There's a good, if expensive, (£195) trackday at Bedford Autodrome on 25th Jan if anyone's interested. See http://www.clubautodrome.com for details. Price includes a short outing in an F2000 single-seater, a great experience. Cheers, Back to work.
  7. Yeah, pressures are fine, currently running 33psi front and rear after finding the 36psi recommended in my (American?) handbook wore the centre of the rears more than the edges.
  8. Thanks Pete, that at least gives me something to compare with. At present the fronts have so much neg camber they look as though they belong on an F1 car. Turns in nicely though.
  9. Bless me Father for I have sinned - I bought a Supra! This is my first post on this board so hello to all you regulars. I have a '94 J-spec TT manual in the fastest available colour, i.e. black, but my front tyres are wearing fairly heavily on the inside shoulders. There is what appears to be camber adjustment on the lower wishbones, by means of eccentric bushes- is this standard and what is the recommended setting? And for toe-in or out as the case may be. Tyres are 17" Yokos of some sort. Cheers.
