Thanks for your input RIder, I'll have a look at MoneyClaim. To keep things simple I did not mention it but, UNFORTUNATELY I live outside of UK so this also doesn't help -
Bought wheels from Sumopower, huge mess, am I the only one ?
Kaamos replied to Kaamos's topic in Supra Chat
I’m re-upping this thread; since I have been unable to solve my issue with Sumopower over phone calls, text messages, e-mails and formal letters I thought It would be interesting to let you folks know about the situation. Loooooong story short, here’s what happened. Decembre 2018 (yes, 2018!) I ordered a set of 4 Wedssport wheels from Sumopower. As it is a staggered mount, front and rear wheels are different sizes. It appears that the rear wheels have a manufacturing defect (which has been acknowledged by Sumopower) and therefore I cannot fit them to the car. They offered to replace the 2 faulty rims, so I returned them to sumo (and of course had to pay the courrier). Unfortunately the 2 replacement rims they got from japan were not brand new, they had some minor scratches. We agreed that I would accept these replacement rims with the counterpart of a partial refund sicne I paid for new wheels and had been unable to use the items. Nevertheless, these reconditioned rims were AGAIN subject to a manufacturing defect. From that point on, I got no more answers from Sumopower, neither by email nor by formal letter. I had to let my lawyer handle this but they haven’t answered his letter either which is totally unacceptable and unprofessional. What’s more, I had a chat with the european head of imports for Wedssport and he told me that the rims I ordered back in the day were scheduled for a redesign; so even if I got a pair of new rear wheels now I would find myself with a set of mismatched designs ! -

Yes, but this was like 15months ago. -
Hi there ! I ordrerd a set of Wedssport wheels from Sumopower in late 2018. 2 wheels have a machining defect, making them unusable. Sumo has been unable to provide suitable replacement nor refund ever since. We got to the point where they would not even answer my emails anymore ! Any one else with a similar misfortune ?

just started a thread after my led conversion, 2 pictures with halogen VS LED, if you want to have a look
-
I feel a bit dumb asking but… has someone successfully installed LED foglights on a Supra ? I mean, I got a pair of HB4(9006) LEDs for low beam, HB3(9005) for high beam and H3 for foglights. Installing HB3 and HB4 was an easy plug and play Installing the H3 on the other hand seems to be just… Meh ! Here are the LEDs I bought as well as some pics https://www.ledperf.com/kit-ampoules-hb4-9006-led-ventilees-taille-mini-p-15866.html https://www.ledperf.com/kit-ampoules-hb3-9005-led-ventilees-taille-mini-p-15865.html https://www.ledperf.com/kit-ampoules-h3-led-ventilees-taille-mini-p-30449.html driver side = LEDS, passenger = halogen, low beam and low+high beam the difference with the former halogen bulbs is really significant (night and day, if I may say) even if i couldn’t shoot the pictures in the dark because the cieling lights refused to switch off…. And here’s what the LED H3 looks like, no clue how I’m supposed to make this fit my pre-facelift headlight…. Even if I came along the wiring issue I still don’t see how the LED is supposed to sit in place with the original plastic cap removed….. Am I missing something ?
-
Hi, i’m in the process of replacing the LEDS in my dashboard (conversion had been made by previous owner). Some of the plastic sockets in which you plug the bulbs-leds have been damaged, awkwardly soldered etc…. I'd like to make it clean Are these the right ones for the bigger LEDs (T10 / type 194) https://www.amazon.fr/WLJH-T10-168-194-Twist-2825-Wedge-miniature-ampoules/dp/B07B2J3JBQ/ref=sr_1_27?ie=UTF8&qid=1547479684&sr=8-27&keywords=t10+led+support and smaller LEDs (T5 / type 74 like for oil temp etc) https://www.amazon.fr/Support-lampe-remplacement-T5-LED-visser/dp/B07DMGQ99G/ref=sr_1_26?ie=UTF8&qid=1547479684&sr=8-26&keywords=t10+led+support

Hi there, I’m considering having the timing belt replaced very soon on my UK spec….. the last time it was changed is likely to be 10 years ago so….... even with a relatively low mileage in-between…. But now I’m confused : I went to local Toy dealer, they didn’t even pop the hood open and off i drove with a £1105 estimated cost parts + labour including replacing the belt, the water pump, the coolant etc..….. If I’m not mistaken, the water pump on the supra is not driven by the timing-belt itself but by the accessory belt, right ?(hoping I’m using the correct names in english). So out of curiosity i went to a multi-brand workshop, they looked at the engine, saw the water pump had be changed “recently” and according to them it doesn’t need replacing, so they gave me a MUCH lower estimation : £315 for belt + coolant, without replacing the water pump. I checked at my former service and parts bills and the water pump was indeed replaced 5,5years / 15kmiles ago Any advise ?

I hope I can make some better looking pictures sometime soon but just got my new winter wheels, thought i would add them to the list : Japan Racing JR18 front 18*8.5 et25 rear 18*9.5 et40

In case I don’t find a buyer around my place (Strasbourg, France), maybe someone here would be interested in the set or SteelGrey Rota Grids I have for sale. The only reason I’m selling is that french regulation forces me to get 18” instead 9Jx19 et38 5x1143 front, 10jx19 et38 5x114.3 rear 2 wheels in mint condition, one has some scuffs, one has 2 very small ones. Toyo proxes T1Sport all around, 30% wear (however the front ones have a relatively uneven wear so they might be replaced sooner) Open to sensible offers (ps, on the picture I had a 10mm spacer on the front)

thanks guys for these feedbacks, that's what I was expecting..... Also @ dellboy, I'm about to order two sets of Michelin tyres but don't know yet about a potential built-in protector : Pilot Alpin Pa4 for the winter and Pilot Sport 4 for the summer

since the last thread seems to be several years old I wondered if anyone here had a recent experience with items such as alloygators, rimblades etc..... escpecially as they seem to have changed the design (alloygator). Those are supposed to protect the wheel and also arugably ruin or enhance the look of the car in the meantime..... but they are sometimes said to also damage the wheel by either collecting crap underneath and/or marking the wheel upon removal......
-
I'm having the rear left side of my car fixed and the driveshaft has had it...... so I'm after a replacement one. It's for an auto UK spec, in case it makes any difference.... does it ?
-
Anyone here with a feedback fitting JR-18’s on a UK spec with big brakes ? Wondering if they would clear the calipers….. I’m looking at 18*8.5 front 18x9.5 rear, ET40) All I could find is this bunch of pictures with 9.5 wheels and I assume the ET is 40 http://www.japanracingwheels.cz/project/toyota-supra-jr18-18x9-5-gal-72157688701720741/

sheefa, that's interesting knowing at last that 295/40/18 in the rear, if they do 295/30/18 sure will (again, depending on offset). But then I doubt 265 would fit on the front so it would be 295 rear 235 front..... would that be "balanced", grip-wise or would you people rather go for 255 rear/235 front ?
-
user manual, page 145 : "If you need snow tires, select the 235/45zr17 snow tires on your toyota" without mentioning front or rear so I assume they mean same size all around.
-
this I knew Dellboy but thanks for confirming. As a sidenote and while you are talking about oem rims : I think I read somewhere in the owner manual that toy recommands square mount for winter tyres, so 235/45/17 all around..... isn't 235 a bit narrow on a 9.5j rim ?? or is it just my bad memory messing with inaccurate figures ?
-
that's what I thought as well, but I've seen several posts here and there tending to make me think that 295 would fit so I was wondering if someone here had some fitting and handling feedbacks. About the regulation, long story short : you were never allowed to fit any tyre-size to your vehicule in France, you must comply with a list of sizes that are acknowledged to be compatible with the stock size. The list seems to have been slightly narrowed, and in the meantime the MOT has recently become harsher, checking points that they did not care about earlier (among which checking these bloody compatibility-lists when you don't run stock size). So what was sometimes "tolerated" back then is not anymore...... me happy ! And on this list, the only compatible 19" size would be 275/30/19 front and 315/25/19 rear..... not sure I would want that... would you ?
-
Due to lovely french regulation I will probably have to change my current 19" for new 18". I'm waiting for final decision but expect a set of 19" rota grids to appear in the for sale section shortly. This being said, here's my tyre-related question, rim questions may come next : My car is full stock except for wheels and BC coilovers. I currently have 235/35/19 front and 275/30/19 rear The only tyre sizes I may be allowed to get fitted in 18" are : option A : 235/40/18 front 255/35/18 rear option B : 265/35/18 front 295/30/18 rear or a mix of both, so option C : 235/40/18 front 295/30/15 rear I'm not even sure option or CB would fit without bodywork..... What do you think ?
-
yes need4speed, french toyota dealers are clueless about supras (one of them did not even realize the car was a toyota until I showed him the badge on the hood LOL, he just said "sorry sir we can't help you, you should check your car manufacturer".....). THIS BEEING SAID, new year, new luck : thanks to an unexpected turn of events I'm finally allowed to get the car fixed, so sorry for the several interested buyers but she's staying. *** does anybody know how to change the thread prefx from FOR SALE to SOLD ?? ***

Pretty much all is in the title. Only cars with no - or minimal mods, no singles or such. Let's see what shows up
-
Well, upon first inspection (when those pics underneath were taken), the garage suspected the geometry to be messed up and projected repair costs were much higher. But when we were finally allowed to work on the car, then geometry was checked several times through the process and it is ok.

rear wing and washers have been removed by previous owner. active front spoiler is here, only not down in the last pictures. upper arm has popped because the nut was gone but just screwing a nut back into place and wheel alignment was correct, no damage to the sub frame Driveshaft is fine as well, why are you assuming it's bent ?
