Well, I had to recon the starter, done that and refitted it and It would not crank over. After testing through, there is a fault in the fuse box, which has dropped the cranking signal even though it is present at the starter. So, she now has a push button start which will only work once the ignition is switched on and the break pedal is pressed. Pretty simple. Its being raised 10mm in the morning lol, as she has finally decided its too low. If your up for a few games of mw2 im online with her now.

Not a nice thing then fella, You may be better off finding a replacement for time being to get the car on the road and then Have a go at repairing at some point. -
Yeah I will be aslong as I don't strip the car apart for a few overhauls, ready for llandow.

Had the capacitors actually leaked out mate, and have you checked the resistance across them?, I have had to repair a few ecu's in the past and the burn marks were from the flux overheating. -

That they are, but when you think about it, It will teach him how to remove interior, due to welding, external trim, changing piston rings the list goes on lol.

The thing most common for this are mk3 fiestas, easy to work on and have all the basics.

Iac Idle air control valve. Avoid a mechanic and take it to an autolec, Thats what I am by trade. Just ask them to do a code read if it brings up a fault code, its all good. But it seems to be a intermittent fault. So my advice would be to request a live data , which is where they will watch the data supplied to the ecu on screen. This will show if there is a fault. Also ask them to do an on the road diagnostic, this is basically a live data while you are driving the vehicle.

Sounds like the usual MAF sensor going down fella, on the eco wreck engines it very rarely brings on the eml.

Here we go; Had an alternator fail on me so replaced it with one of keron. Its all working fine and cured my problem. Now I have noticed since fitting this my brake lights have failed. Now the fuse is fine, but I replaced it just to be sure. Wow they work, for 5 minutes . Take out the fuse and its fine, replace it and they work again , then they die again, Has anyone had a problem like this. IS there a difference between a pre face lift and face lift alternator.

Try jumping it, if it works, then its the battery. If it does not work then post up and let us know.
