So i am safe to go for a x reg s14a with a noisy vvt, thats good to know then. I want to get as new as possible really without going to the 15 silvia. The 14a looks nicer apart from the arse end as with all of them its just too high from the dirt.

Nice info ther TDR, I have been searching through sxoc, but have come to the point where there is so many answers for the vvt rattle that i am at a loss with what's right lol.

by all accounts its the actual pulley wears and not the solenoid, the later solenoids #49 have a sprung ball bearing in it keeping a small amount of oil pressure in it to reduce the problem. From what I have found out a replacement pulley can cost from 400 to 600.

S13 is great for learning, and cheaper to repair than the s14 and s14a, dont bother with the s15 silvia as they aint cheap on parts. Im currently looking for a s14a myself. 13's have the 1.8t which can be a pain in the arse, but the 14's have the 2l's in them, and suffer with vtt rattle.

there is an alloy plate that the plastic clips go through fella.

Also the same clips in the opening of the centre of the bumper.

If its been fitted before the bumper is a case of for nuts and bolts, and the side skirts are bolted underneath and screwed on the ends. As long as they used the original mounting bolts for the bumper you will have no problems.
