As said above dry up any standing water in the plug recess's and then go crazy with some wd40 on all the connections with multi plugs.

Once again aqua fresh saves the day . I am in the process of bringing my music cd's back to life. Now these discs look like they have been to hell and back and were unreadable But with the aid of tooth paste and nail buffing pads they are now readable, and bringing back some great memories.
