If you want to read the codes yourself, locate the diagnostic plug under the bonnet and bridge out terminals TE and TE1 and the code will flash through the management light. Quick flashes indicate unit numbers and long indicate tens. So if you have 2 long flashes and 3 quick that would be code 23, hope this helps. -

2nd that, if he shorted to ground in theory the 1st thing to go is the fuse. Get a code read done on the car and see what comes up. As for the remote wire, get him to do the job properly and not be an "arther". Use the remore pick up of the head unit, or last resorts pick it up of the remote for the electric Ariel. -
