  1. Battery is holding charge and taking charge. With this weather at the moment it can sit there lol
  2. No what I'm saying is the alter stir failed so it was replaced. The car had no previous work done before the problems.
  3. No work just died. Replaced the alternator while mine was reconditioned that failed now this ones playing up.
  4. If it's fir the left hand drive. Heat it up and reshape it a small amount to clear I had to do it before on my old supra.
  5. Starter wires are cold nothing odd about them. The smell is from under bonnet not internal mate. Plus with engine off and sticking your head down the engine it's 100% where the smell is and the fact you burn your hand touching it. Surely my warning lights shouldld be coming up for the charge system.
  6. Right then audio live has been removed from the car. Battery had 12.6v when running went up to 14.1v. Less than two minutes running and droaning sound got louder and the burning smell was present.
  7. Cheers mate will disconnect it when I go out and see if it improves.
  8. I'm guessing you mean the toms supra if so no as it's not the same as the mkiv supra. It looks similar but that's about it. Closest you'll find is a top secret gt300 kit
  9. It's there for a reason mate a full install and not a cheap one. Just the fact I ain't tried it out yet. Needs to be set up as all settings were lost. Cars starting to wind me up now.
  10. Previous owner had a sound system in the supra. It has a power cap fitted would this cause issues. Never have the music on loud either so hardlyany drain. Stating to annoy me now as it has to be a simple reason for the problem. Does anyone know if the alternators get hot when running as this has been painted and was wondering if it's the paint burning giving off the smell.
  11. To remove tension I used two spanners linked but I can move the arm about three inches by pulling the belt. Would a slack tensioner cause this problem I'm having though.
  12. When I had the unit reconditioned. I had to have everything replaced and he said the bearing had eaten into the shaft. I got no warning lights or anything up. Just a really strong mettalic smell a droning sound and I touched the alternator and burnt my fingers. When I first did the swap I had trouble removing tension off the belt but not as bad putting the belt back on. A quick pull on the belt and I can move the tensioner I'm wondering if this is screwed.
  13. Getting fed up now. Recently fitted a recon unit to the car. All was perfect except just now I noticed a funny smell and it's once again making a death drone. Has anyone had any similar problems with their car eating alternators. Could it be caused by a failing tensioner.
  14. Iv only recently become active on here again. I would love to do something for him but at present time I'm in the middle of a house move and renovation so every penny is going towards that. If people were interested I wouldn't mind organizing a trackday in his memory. But wouldn't be this year. A lot of us welshies had good times with Colin when he was back home visiting. Maybe it would be possible for the Welsh and Scottish to sort something out at some point make a weekend of it possibly meet up in north Wales the travel down for a trackday.
  15. Hell of a rant. I was a good mate of Colin and his son. I would have loved to have done a drive for him but funds simply wouldn't let me. Horses for courses mate. Some people can plan ahead fir main events but when others pip up throughout the year funds just may not be free for people.
  16. Will be a mix really hand and tools in work finished off with a polishing wheel.
  17. As soon as my UK lights are here I'll be doing my jspec lights in work. Will be delining them aswell. Perks of the job I guess.
  18. Do you know how to get your front fog lights working yet?
  19. Well I'm going by what it says on the unit. And the fact that a 120 amp fuse has melted goes to show that a 150 amp alternator has over powered it has it not hence it being melted.
  20. Hi Dave. Mine cost £95 simply due to the fact that oil leaked inside and had burnt it out completely. The bearing inside had also worn through the shaft only thing left of the oringinal was the outer cage. Aspire. Only thong I can put it down to is that the ratings are for the systems. The manual is rated at 150 amp and auto is 120 amp. The fuse was not rated to the manual rampage so started to burn the wiring out the fuse was cooked.
  21. I spy a chargespeed wing
  22. Just no but if you like them that's all that matters
