    Misfire.

Great news. Thought it sounded like limp mode due to lean AFR's. Glad you got there in the end.

Do you know what the number is indicating above cylinder 2? Maybe I'm reading it wrong, but if the lambda is reaching maximum voltage it could be due to the engine leaning out under boost. Do you have an wideband AFR?

At least that's progress mate. Just a case of finding out what the culprit is now. Good luck with the logs tomorrow.

Does it feel like you're hitting the rev limiter when the misfire occurs? There should be lots of pops 'n bangs if so. Might also be worth checking the main harness to the coils for cracks/wires arcing out. If you see anything suspect, insulate them. I would also check the plug to the MAP sensor and also your cam sensors to see if they're all pushed on all the way and fixed securely in place. It's easy to miss silly little things like this. As Chris has said, a Dyno session is the way forward, but there's no harm in trying the above if it's not convenient for whatever reason.

Agreed mate. I'd be surprised if it was the plugs as they would fail a lot earlier on. At what RPM does it start missing at? If it's consistent, it could be the ECU safe guarding the engine. Could be a drop in fuel pressure. Either way, I'm dying to know.

Wouldn't hurt to monitor the fuel pressure. The pump could be getting tired after an hour or so.... bit of a shot in the dark, but after reading the thread it's a bit of an odd issue considering what you've changed so far.
  7. What are the before and after results? Sounds like piston slap and I'm sure if Paul is confident then you can bet it is. Just curious... does the GE short block match with the GTE head?
  8. Lots of spacers? Are people making a song 'n dance over nothing or is something desperate to offload their FMIC?
  9. Haha, as much as a fmic is inevitable, I'm putting off the day when I try and get the active spoiler to play nice with one.
  10. Diagnosis as promised to those who were kindly helping me at JAE: blown welds on the standard IC. God knows how long this has been effecting the car. Time for a Chris Wilson or Whifbitz SMIC!
  11. I actually "blew the welds on the intake.". :D
  12. So.... I have a cracked weld/seam on the stock IC.
  13. Little bit far, but thanks for the offer. I'll be in touch after Saturday as I'll be removing all boost pipes and starting from scratch again.
  14. Is there anyone near-ish Southampton that would be willing to let me borrow their AFM for a test run to eliminate mine as the culprit for it running rich? Drinks on me.
  15. Will double check the receipt tomorrow (can't be arsed to get out of bed and find it now).
  16. Can't remember now dude. Came with the BPU package from Whifbitz so all good for the level of boost I'm running.
  17. Any idea what vacuum reading you guys are getting on idle?
  18. Yes mate. Are they prone to go? I've been toying with replacing all the coil packs to rule them out, as they could probably do with being changed anyway.
  19. Sweet. Looking forward to getting it on.
  20. Update.... Parts replaced/eliminated: Turbo link pipes Temp sensor Both O2 sensors The car is still running rich and won't boost over 0.9 bar. I'm back to thinking it's a boost leak or the AFM, but I still haven't found any leaks in the system using water and fairy liquid. Just a quick question for anyone who can help... what vacuum reading are you seeing when idling or shutting the throttle when driving?
  21. You sent me the same PM/total twice... I'm more than happy not to cover your PP charges. PM'ing you now.
  22. Hi mate, could you PM me the total including Paypal charges if I send the money for goods please?
  23. At least if you have the service history there is something to verify before you buy. Service history was a must for me, especially considering the age and value of these cars, nowadays. Oil changes get neglected all the time and the effect it has on the engine over it's life span is detrimental to its health.
