That's a good point. They came in with a thump.

Bit of a painful one to watch, but some important lessons to be learned.

MANY ECU's FAILING - ANY CLUB MEMBERS KNOW WHY?
Big Supes replied to herbiemercman's topic in mkiv Technical
As a retro gamer, defective capacitors is a common thing. With most systems, traders either offer a capacitor kit for enthusiasts to solder in or you can send the whole board off to them and they'll do it for you. I'd probably go down the latter route if I was still running my OG ECU. In reality, I don't see any upsides of trying to salvage old ECU's when there are superior replacements out there at a reasonable price. Tbh, I wouldn't trust old hardware once it's starting to play up, especially given what can go wrong should they have a bad day in the office. The Link G4X is made for the job and given to the right mapper, the car will be freed from the failing hardware, the crudely safe map that was put on by Toyota (to fit all) back in the 90's and you'll have all the upsides of a modern ECU in terms of a tailored map for engine efficiency, data logging, engine protection, car theft security, valet mode and the list goes on. -
Awesome, thanks mate. I'll get some tomorrow.

Reinforced fuel line is a good shout. I'll see if I can grab some tomorrow for the weekend.

"With great power comes great responsibility." Yeah, like being able to stop when some numpty pulls out in front of you. Bride seat rails for my Recaro's I've had in storage for years and a brand new OEM air conditioner condenser. Sadly, the local ginger cat in my mums street has damaged the base of the seats by scratching them, but it is what it is. I'll get them refurbed down the road. That's what you get when you have a cat flap on your garage!

We'll have so many bicycle lanes, reduced speed limits and a social credit/universal basic income system by then, most of us will probably be back on a push bike. Smart meters and other green policies will line their pockets.

Can anyone recommend high quality vacuum hose for my wastegate/boost set up? I need some 6mm and some T-pieces. I was thinking about heading my local Hypahose, but thought I'd check to see what others are using.

Not really sure tbh. They're used to be a member here who used to build them. Have you tried asking Paul at whifbitz?

Good stuff. We just need Vibrant to come through in good time.
-
Hey, it's a bit of a lonely old learning curve sometimes so I appreciate the feedback re the exhaust flex! I've had two Vibrant stainless bellows on order for months, but what's even more annoying is, I cancelled my previous order as I thought I'd get them elsewhere sooner. I'm happy you noticed I gave some thought about exhaust flow plumbing them back in, and yeah, it was a royal PITA given my experience and limited tools to hand. I spent quite a while die grinding everything flat inside the pipe as I was stuffing filler rods into the gaps like they were going out of fashion. Going back to the flex pipe, I hope it can see me through until the vibrant bellows turn up.

No probs buddy. Good luck with the search.

That's a bit of a cheek. I understand some jobs go south and take longer, but if all you're doing is brake calipers day in - day out, you should have a pretty good idea how to quote. I've gone with Brake Caliper Refurbs for the rears. The guy sounded genuine and they'll turn them around in 3 days (no paint). K Sports are arriving tomorrow for the fronts.

Thanks mate, they look fantastic.

Cheers matey

"A few grams" lol I take it you've never picked up a stock boot lid.
-
Oh man, I'm actually tempted. I'd be interested in pics if you're serious.
-
The only reason I mentioned carbon is because it's a superior material, half the price of stock and can still be painted so it'll look the same as stock.

I've got someone in Denmark who is wanting to buy a load of Supra parts which has got me thinking sending them on a pallet might be the best option. Any idea on who to use?

Absolutely. Works well with the SRD FMIC. Obviously it depends on what turbo/manifold combo you run, but you can see from the pictures it gets you 90% there.
-
SRD FMIC fitted along with the Link G4X ECU. As you can see in the previous pictures the whifbitz hot side single turbo pipework works a charm with the turbo position.

Manifold, turbo and downpipe bolted down. New OEM water pump, thermostat, cam belt, tensioner and idle pulley fitted. Also went for a new fluid crank pulley. TT water outlets welded shut and capped off. Speaking of the water pipes, I performed the heat matrix mod to free up the pipe work and moved the T-piece forward to allow more room for the downpipe. I'm undecided which route to run the oil feed to the turbo and whether it needs some heat protection.
