Love nice shiny adel clamps. When I was working with power/raceboats we used to strip the rubber off, buff them and put them back together.

I don't really see the comparison, tbh. A second hand turbo is easy enough to check for play/wear. A second hand engine isn't without fitting it and running it up, and even then... problems could take thousands of miles to materialise. A turbo is easy to change... an engine isn't. For the money you save, I would consider a second hand turbo upon inspection, definitely.

I have had a Stack wideband AFR gauge sat in my lounge for over a year. I still don't know whether to fit it or not... or where the hell it would go, even if I wanted to fit it. Gauges don't really fit in with my OE look. Great news, BTW JackyBoi.

I nearly bought a tidy black 180sx around 10 years ago for £1300 and kicked myself years later when the prices SHOT UP.

Hence the reason I said "assuming it has full service history". My car has done almost twice the amount of miles and I won't be changing a thing when it goes single (unless there are telltale signs). Its like a sewing machine and the oil comes out like you could fry chips in it after every oil change.

Assuming it has full service history, 14 years old and 50k on the clock doesn't scream out new seals and pump for a 2jz. Just my opinion.

To be fair, if a garage wanted to change all the pumps and seals on my engine (and it had only done 51k miles with no signs of issues), I would be thinking in the back of my mind they're trying to shaft me for a extra bit of cash. 51k is barely worn in for a 2jz.
