You might need to be underneath the car.... and yes, they can be a royal bitch!! I had to use a nut splitter on one of mine and a hacksaw blade with a masking tape handle to finish it off.

I didn't take any chances with my SMIC and went for the Chris Wilson unit. Expensive, yes, but the build quality is superb. -
Wouldn't miss it for the world mate. I tend to watch the big fights with friends at one of our homes as it's nice to sit and relax with a perfect view. As it's Vegas, instead of staying up all night and getting wasted... and then falling asleep (), we've decided to meet up at 3am and have a few Irish Coffees to get in the mood. Can't wait!! Let's hope Pacman does the business.

A worn turbo shaft or bearing (probably both in your case) will cause inconsistent spool as well as an inconsistent boost peak. The later is caused, IIRC, due to unstable turbo pressure equalisation on the wastegate.

In your case, I would attribute boost spike to the knackered turbos, definitely.

The engine makes the same power. Power is lost through the transmission whether it's manual or auto. The auto merely saps a bit more because of it's design. Think of it as Usain Bolt wearing his favourite comfy slippers and running the 100 metres. That's an auto.

I can't stand colour coded interiors, although I'm partial to the seats (only) being different to the norm. If it was my car, and I felt the need for some lairy colour, I'd go for bright yellow or orange stitching and some foot well mats to match.... ... but, it isn't my car and I'm not the one who has invested so much into it.
