  1. Thanks Ric, any idea where's best to source them?
  2. At this stage I'd be compression testing to rule out any nasties inside the engine.
  3. It's easy to go down that bottomless rabbit hole lol. I'm pretty sure I'm going to be satisfied with 650-700ish wheel horsepower, tbh. I can only see myself going forged and doing other bits and pieces if the engine needs opening up. The way I see it is, I've had the car almost 10 years and done 20k miles. Asking for another 20k on a well set up single? It should be feasible.
  4. Howdy peeps, I've got some Recaro's from an DC5 that I'm thinking about putting in the Supra. Does anyone know what seat rails I'd need?
  5. I'm always down for a cheeky Nandos. I'll be in touch next time I'm down buddy. My bad. I thought judging by your thread that you were aiming for 700bhp. I was under the impression there would be judging from numerous people saying they experienced a noticeable lag increase. Maybe they failed to highlight they also increased the size of their turbo lol.
  6. I hear you mate, but after chatting with Lee, I opted for the SRD kit as it'll do the job just fine. @Noz4". You really don't want 5" for your power goals as it'll just cause unnecessary lag.
  7. Ah, ok. I was under the impression you melted yours running the stock UK-Spec ECU lol. My bad. After speaking with Lee, he said that the AFRs were a big cause for concern, not even under high load when running the stock UK-Spec ECU, etc. Going back to the OP's question, I'll reiterate that going forged isn't necessary, IMO. A refresh would put the engine in good stead for 700bhp if anyone has concerns about brittle rings. Personally, I'll be running mine on similar power eventually at the wheels and will only open the engine up if a ring or something else let's go.
  8. Those wheels look made for the car. That is one hella-clean Supra. Love it.
  9. Thanks buddy. The RSP looks to be making decent progress from what I saw when I was down there. Hopefully catch up with you next time I'm over that way again.
  10. I'd physically clean up the earth's again and give it another try. Also check over the wiring loom for damaged or split wires. Unfortunately, these days with our older cars the looms can harden up with all the heat cycles and become quite brittle. Moving the loom around from taking the engine out could have disturbed it.
  11. Goodies from SRD! New Toyota rad switch and thermostat, SRD titanium manifold stud/nut kit, Koyo Series R radiator, Link G4X plug 'n play ECU with AEM Wideband and sensors to get me started, SRD cooling panel and FMIC kit. Feeling happy about the course of direction for the build after a good chat with Lee and the guys. Top top lads with a crazy wealth of knowledge. Honourable mentioned to Mr Chingy for the 4" down and mid pipe. Thanks for holding onto it mate.
  12. Mini thread update... Thrown the stock radiator and air conditioning condenser in the skip yesterday. They weren't in the worst condition, but as we're asking more from the old girl, I think it's best not to skrimp on cooling. Heading over to SRD tomorrow to pick up some goodies... exciting times.
  13. Sorry mate, been hideously busy recently. That's true, but I think your case is a perfect example of why the tune is the most important factor when dealing with the level of load the OP talking about. Your engine is happy now, not due to being forged, but because it has been mapped and has all the correct supporting mods; remove them and run the single set up on stock UK-Spec ECU and fuelling and it'll still kill a forged engine.
  14. All good buddy, just trying to clarify. My engine is unopened, but I'm thinking about an inspection and refresh this winter as I'm adding cams and increasing the fuelling so it'll be a good time to have a nosy. That being said, if it's still making decent compression, I may look to just service the water and oil pump and belts/tensioners. I'm in two minds so will see how things unfold.
  15. You're misunderstanding what I've said and what to worry about when choosing to go forged or not. I wasn't indicating "rings" let go due to poor engine tuning/running conditions. Rings are the last of your worries when factoring detonation, excessive heat and knock. You're welcome to disagree, but to reiterate, going forged will only raise the tolerances, but won't cure a poorly running/tuned engine when talking about this power level.
  16. I think it depends on the type of usage. For street, I wouldn't forge mine for that power output unless I had money burning a hole in my pocket. Forging an engine for that power output will only conseal an issue for a while longer. You're better off investing in the ecu, tune and safety cutoffs.
  17. I'm after two 44mm wastegates. Either Tial or Turbosmart. Cheers.
  18. No idea, TBH. I did wonder if they were off to the US or Canada.
  19. The black one looked like one that had been sat in someone's garden for years. As for the other, who knows...
  20. Just seen these two old girls at the docks awaiting their ship to their new destinations... The black one doesn't run apparently. Let's hope they find a better life.
  21. What inch is it mate?
  22. 3 or 4 Inch cat back exhaust. 4" FMIC. Sideskirts & Rear spats.
  23. Awesome. Exciting times ahead. Thanks buddy, you too.
