  1. This build is simply next level. Has to be one of the most in-depth, well thought-out builds I've seen to date. Proper race car shit, Mike! Massive hats off to you for putting the effort and breaking the mould. If I've ever seen something "Supra Racing Developments", this is it!
  2. I have one from a GTE if that makes a difference.
  3. Check the lambda sensor plug as they're also a tired these days and the car will struggle to recover back to idle while running rich. Best thing to do is unplug it and test to see if improves.
  4. I'm currently selling my original UK-Spec Supra 2JZ as I have acquired a forged engine for future power goals. The engine has done 118k miles and has never missed an oil change. When I purchased the car 11 years ago, it had FSH and I've always stayed on top of servicing since. The car was originally auto and was changed to BPU auto around 10 years ago. Around 2 years ago it was changed to 6sp single turbo running 600whp. It has relatively new valve stem oil seals, water pump and oil filter house seal. The engine still has the factory seal as it's never been opened. It doesn't smoke or have any suspect taps or knocking noises. SRD fitted 264 cams which will come with the engine. It was also mapped by @Mike2JZ at SRD for the single turbo set up. I can provide videos of the engine running and also power runs on the dyno which show no smoke when under load. Can throw in the UK inlet and TB if needed. Engine is located in Dorset. 5k
  5. Thank you mate. And, likewise. Didn't get home until gone midnight, but it was worth the trip! Your 2J-MR2 project is absolutely mega. Definitely keep us updated on it mate.
  6. Might take a cruise down for this. Will have to see nearer the time as I'm probably going to do IOW Takeover earlier that month.
  7. RZ, UK/Euro-Spec, USDM, who cares. Turn it into whatever floats your boat. Good luck with the build. Be sure to start a build thread and document it all down as in years to come it's nice to be able to refer back to it .
  8. Inlet and DBW is in, wired up and the car is running. Had a bit of an issue on first start up. It was cranking, but not starting... and then it let out a big backfire. I thought to myself "well, fcuk. That's interesting lol". I checked a few things, but couldn't see anything glaringly obvious, but suspected it was a trigger issue as it was getting fuel and spark, but you could hear it was combusting out of time. I checked over the cam sensor wires, but again, everything looked fine. I reached out to @Mike2JZ and he kindly dialled in to take a looksy. Mike checked the trigger scope and asked if there was a chance the front and rear sensor plugs could have accidentally been swapped around. I said I couldn't rule it out as I had extended the wires meaning they would no longer marry up to their original locations from the loom. He did a quick test and swapped the ignition timing around and flipped it 180 degrees and we gave it another go. Boom! She was alive! Map Daddy came through like the legend he is. With the car running, it was quickly time to undo that and start getting the turbo off. I've offered up the new 6870 and it's not a lot of work to modify the downpipe from the 4 inch flange to the cone reducer flange to fit the Precision. I've had a brief conversation with Lee at SRD and will be ordering the flange tomorrow. I'll probably order two as I need one for the current recirc downpipe and another should I make another downpipe for a screamer configuration.
  9. I would imagine the Euro and USDM Spec Supra's will have compatible cats.
  10. Hi Shane, Any background info on who built the bottom end and what parts were used for the 3.4 stroker/bearings/etc. Also who built it. Is the head stock? Cheers.
  11. I always thought they were stripped back and polished, tbh.
  12. I'm nitpicking a bit, but personally don't think you can beat the OEM viscous/shroud design for efficiency and reliability.
  13. Nice spec! I bet you can't wait to get your hands on it. Only thing I would consider changing would be going back to the stock fan shroud and the viscous, but that's just me. Great purchase.
  14. What's the full spec and history behind it?
  15. Nice choice. Looks really nice. I like the R35, but it's more of a daily driver IMO, unless 1000+ bhp, where as the MKIV is a lot more fun to drive, has character and feels special when you take it out, even after 11 years of ownership.
  16. As mentioned above. Give Paul Cheshire a call.
  17. Blitz side skirts are one of my favourite side skirts for the MKIV. They'll look the part for sure.
  18. Hoping for 700whp, but will see where Map Daddy Mike feels it's safest. He seems confident and the engine is still pretty healthy for it's age with no smoke or concerning knocking or tapping. I might get Mike to remove the launch control though as the stock engine could do without me being a big kid. I've probably used it around 5 times, but everytime I feel a sense of guilt. You're right though. These old engines are a true testiment to a time when the engineers built these cars and not the suits fixated on profits only.
  19. Thanks Pete. For someone like me who really gets a kick out of working on my own car, you can sometimes find yourself out of your comfort zone which is why having people like the SRD boys to pull a bit of knowledge from here and there is really important. I try not to message unless I really need to as they're not a charity helpline for wannabe tuners.
  20. Back to update build thread and show the forum some love again.
  21. Fast forward to present time, we're back at it.... So, the 600whp satisfied longer than the 500whp (which I think was two weeks before I was back down to SRD.... ), but it's time to push for a bit more. After speaking with Mike and Lee, it was pretty evident to get more power I'll need a bigger turbo so I went with a Precision 6870. As I'm still on a stock engine I thought I'd throw an inlet in too and DBW. As the inlet was being added, it made sense to switch to a 5" ETS so all the pipework is made only the once (it'll go forged eventually and turned up some more). The biggest hurdle in doing the inlet this Christmas is carrying out the unknown while everyone is shut. I tried to factor all the parts I'd need before hand prior to starting, but like everything new, there's always a bunch of stuff you're not aware you'll need. We're not a million miles off now. ETS is on, pipework is 90% done. Just waiting on a friend to weld the ally Link boss onto the inlet for the IAT sensor. DBW peddle is modified to fit the MKIV. Five Guys and Supra bud James has almost finished relocating the battery. Injector loom is lengthened. If all goes well, the inlet should be bolted on tomorrow. The only thing holding the car up will be ordering a second expansion loom for the Link/DBW. I'd like to thank Lee, Mike and Ash for being on the end of the phone for help in making sense of some of the unknowns. Once the inlet is done, I'll start swapping the turbo....
  22. Some other uninteresting things to note... the original 30 year old Laserline bit the bullet so I went with a new replacement Laserline as 30 years is a pretty good testament to the brand. As the dash was starting to show signs of it's age, I thought I'd give it a makeover by wrapping it in some leftover material I had. This along with SRD/JP Works TRD dials and a Renown wheel, the car has a nice, clean and updated look and feel.
