  1. I'd guess UK (or in general, European) users are less interested in the straight line acceleration benefits than they are in the added stability and controllability whilst cornering, especially in wet or icey conditions. However, launch control should give you a reasonable edge, and will minimize wheelspin. Look at what F1 is doing for example, hardly any wheelspin during launches. That said, I'm not sure launch/traction control is allowed during drags, but I could be wrong. For more proof, you could scrounge some video material off of the RLTC website.
  2. It's "wastegate" mate... don't even want to try and figure out wth a "waistgate" would be
  3. Look ma, I bought a gay supra!! (without indicators )
  4. The doors on my celica constantly freeze shut... after a bit of swearing, wheezing and pulling they always open tho

Michael, you'll be able to find it on exvitermini.com, main page. There are some news posts on December 13th and earlier about the Motec. Cheers, Michiel (the dutch version of Michael )

The guys on exvitermini.com (the australian Pro-GTR project) were quite negative in their comments on Motec chips. I quote: I'm not judging Motec myself (no hands-on experience). And, your situation might not be as extreme as the gtr project. So all in all YMMV and ignore my post

    Brake size

I'd be surprised if larger discs fit in combination with the same calipers.

    2.5" or 3"

The .5" will make a significant difference when it comes to how freely your exhaust will flow. With turbocharged engines, bigger is better (argueably), you want your exhaust to give you as free a flow of gasses as possible. 3" is the common diameter for the Suup IIRC.
  9. Launch control is basically a secondary rev limiter... you set the limiter (at say 4000 rpm), floor the pedal, and let the clutch out. Best traction possible off the line. I think the RLTC shifting option is called clutchless shifting, not powershifting (which does use the clutch).
  10. Wow mate, now it's def. a jet fighter!!
  11. Diesel engines have very high compression ratios and it's therefor pretty much impossible to have a non-interference diesel... too little space between the head and the pistons. However, I think you should never rely on NI to save your ass... just replace your belts (instead of letting 'em snap) and you'll be safe. The stock supra block is NI, but obviously you can turn it into an interference engine by adding very high lift cams.
  12. As far as I know, ALL recent toyota blocks are non-interference, which is part of what makes those blocks so damn good (especially the 3S-G(T)E and the 1/2 JZG(T)E). A somewhat shady list can be found here, a better list is this pdf. Non-interference engines simply have more clearance between valves and pistons than interference engines. This still allows high lift.
  13. It def. is. Never seases to amaze me how much info on the MKIV is readily available.
  14. They have been working for some time now
  15. One option is to fit a restrictor plate, I've seen posts about it appearing off and on.
