  1. Also if it makes a banging noise over speedbumps, go over the speedbump with the brakes applied - see what happens then.
  2. Take it off and clean the contacts, use a flat screwdriver first and you will see whats happening, then if you are feeling adventurous use something like sandpaper, ensuring that you are just taking the surface off, not filing them away... I have been known to use the rough side of a matchbox in an emergency, its all good.
  3. As i posted, your n/a will be using a distributor not coilpacks
  4. Take off the dizzy cap and clean the contacts and the rotor arm, it will start pretty much straight away after that.. Your s15 has an sr20de(t) engine, does it use the old sr20 with a dizzy or is it on coilpacks now? Has it been reliable for you? Im tempted by one..
  5. Police Camera Action - Here I come Just thought of some amazing getaway techniques !!
  6. Footman james or lynbrook still the cheapest. You need another car or be a named driver on another car though.

    Supra in Italy

Typical italian drivers, I've been there twice but on a motorbike, they are total nutters on the road.. Where i was a red traffic light didn't necessarily mean stop to those guys.. I found that if you switch your speedometer from km to miles you are just about keeping up with traffic. Oh and motorways are pretty scary.. Everyone cuts you up.. The trick i found was to just go faster than everyone else and be a bigger dick than they could ever be.. [Youtube]QHHYHl4TDMk
  8. Have you cracked on with it yet? Do you need a hand? Or a foot?
  9. I rang Footman James back actually, who said No again, because I wasn't 30, and that I'm not an existing customer. But then I explained that I also have a bike insured with them on a classic policy that is actually the same age (1996) - surely this means I'm an existing customer? along with the fact I'm 29, and ill be spending 6 months of the policy being 30 anyway. They put me on hold for a while and then said "Okay, no problem." Result.
  10. Mission complete: £430.90 I know its not as good as I had wanted, but it will do until next year when I'm 30 and I can renew with Lynbrook again for 300 quid.
  11. Whats worse is that some other insurers say "You need to be 30 for us to insure you on those type of cars" What does that mean? "Those types of car?" - Maybe it means a 17 Year old lardy rust bucket, that by now probably has the same horse power than tiny french hatchbacks are putting out as standard? When I have two Motorbikes sat in the Garage that are both faster, more dangerous, and easier to steal than an N/A Supra, it doesn't make sense. I will find someone cheaper, but admittedly sky are currently the cheapest, how depressing.
  12. Sky were £690.00 with 7 years NCB, much better than when I last rang, nice chap - and I actually got a figure of out them so thanks Ollie. I think I can get cheaper though, and without using my NCB. My target is about £400.
  13. Thanks Ollie, That was said to me when I first bought my first NA in 2008, so I expect it has already happened by now My postcode isn't great, but I will ring up again and just ask about the postcode. We had a murder about 200yards away not so long ago, i wonder if that makes my insurance go from £270 to £800.
  14. A-Plan got back to me with £800 or there abouts - which is the cheapest price yet, but it mirrors my no claims from my other car. They said they couldn't get it on a classic policy due to my being too young (29), and that the car is only 17 years old, so it isn't eligible for there scheme. Obviously they are talking nonsense - because ill insure it for half that when I find the right place.
  15. Ring them up yourself and pretend to be a new customer, you'll see !
  16. Going to try these tomorrow, they closed at 5 :/
  17. Adrian flux refused to quote me in the end, no actual figure. I rang Graham Sykes back and spoke to another agent. They still refuse to quote me for a classic policy because the Supra does not constitute a classic car. Wow, its harder than it used to be!
  18. Just tried Adrian Flux, and they are still horrible to deal with. "Is it the 1996 Model?" "Yes" "Is it Manual 3.0 Litre? "Yes" "Has your car Imported, Modified, or Adapted for a Disability?" "yes" "All three?" "No." "Well which ones then?" "..." Ill ring back and try another person at Graham Sykes.
  19. They told me that they 'don't insure Supra's with modifications, and they aren't really a rare enough car to go on classic.'
  20. What type of price are you paying, I'm wanting a sub £400 per year price to be honest.
  21. They refuse to insure me because they don't do "Up North" as they said to me on the phone some time ago. Oh thanks, I'll check them out
  22. Lynbrook - Refuse to quote unless I'm 30. LWIB - Refuse to quote unless I'm 30, I told them I was 29, and jokingly said ill wait till next year, but then also said that some underwriters were looking at a minimum age of 35! CCI - They said no. Elephant - Saw that name on here, £850 (If I use my 8yrNCB on the Supra and give up my daily) Aplan - Havent got back to me yet, its been 5 hours, i think they have given up. Strange - going from £270 / £400 to literally being unable to quote because I'm such a high risk in the space of 13 months, its crazy.
  23. No one will insure me. I have been insured on my supra before, and a supra before that. Currently I'm driving a 96 NA Manual, For the sake of argument, no modifications. (I only tell them after I have had their initial price, so I can see the increase if any) Lynbrook - I was with them for 2 years. Paid £270 ish pounds per year. Footman James - I was with them for 1 year, paid £390 per year. I was 26 27 and 28 years old during the years mentioned. Same car, same address, same circumstances - the above companies that have previously insured me, refuse to insure me again, because I am 29. The minimum age for classic insurance has now increased to 30 for these companies. What a ballache! I'm waiting on A-Plan to get back to me, but it doesn't sound promising - I heard that CCI was good, but now they have stopped as well! Where is the current holy grail for cheap classic Supra insurance that requires no NCB?
