  1. For me, they do a quick check outside for another car, and bring that in if my emissions are high and it fails the first time. Friendly MOT stations are only friendly if you have known them for years. People now days complain about everything and wouldn't stop to cast the finger of blame at an MOT station if something went amiss. They need to know through trust that you aren't a complaining winge-bag or a grass. I get my motorbike MOTs with a small number plate attached, no reflector, noisy exhaust etc. I wouldn't dream of telling a police offer "Well it was MOTed like that". But some people would. Find a nice garage/guy, and stick with them.
  2. I bought mine from america, arrived in 5 days and it was not curled up in a box!!
  3. Jazz, Are these pictures real? Surely there needs to be at least one photo of your car that has been taken through a dirty bus stop window by a parkinsons victim? Looking forward to the rest of the thread
  4. +1 on not using the rubber rings on the end of the pins, they end up getting stuck at some point. I gave Joe Marcon a working set of rear j-spec calipers and carriers for him to play with, and explained to him about why I removed the rings. I think its just his fronts he has a problem with now. The rust inside the caliper brackets that the pins go into, if you just keep greasing them, rather than cleaning them once in a while - the rusty bits and crap that is in there mixes in with the grease and starts to act like a grinding paste on the hole. One of my calipers holes went from circular to oval, meaning that you could grab the caliper through the alloy wheel and it would wobble about. (it would knock going over bumps too, unless light braking was applied) Other than not driving in the rain(lol), id certainly keep an eye on them. For people running a TPMS like I was(eventually!), I was waiting until I was getting tyre temperatures that differ on the same axle to identify any binding, and then I would put on a spare set that I had cleaned earlier. That way you can keep the car on the road, and spend time making the caliper nice and fresh, without rushing it and making a half arsed go of it.
  5. Love the under bonnet boxes, they really do tidy things up..!
  6. I wouldn't say 350 is cheap, loads of people on the forum over the age of 25 have had cheaper. Personally £277 is my cheapest. Raven on the forum got £192 i believe, Havard also had a cheap quote with agreed value I believe. But if you think £350 is cheap then good on you Id say the £400 mark was about average..
  7. You need to get some pies down you and try again, or try having a shower with your clothes on
  8. If you compress the spring well you can take it out in one go without undoing any other bolts. Done it myself on two occasions.
  9. Its stupid loud on an n/a if you are double decat. One cat and it can be tolerated, both and its okay loud ..
  10. What, in season 215?
  11. You've just bought it, when was it last serviced? As above re ignition parts..
  12. Lol, are you the guy from the sv650 forum?
  13. Must own another vehicle besides the classic car. Car must be over 15 years old. Policyholder must be over 25 (Sometimes 30) Must be garaged. Millage restrictions apply. Footman James accepts motorbikes and company vehicles and vans as "First Vehicle" Lynbrook doesn't accept motorbikes as a "First Vehicle". Policy's are usually between £180 to £400.
  14. Footman James and Lynbrook have been the best for me.
  15. I removed my shocks without removing drop links or the control arm. I compressed the springs with spring compressors prior to removing them completely, this aided the removal. Its tight, but it worked! Hope that helps..!
  16. Personally Id just buy an ISO connector, and some heatshrink - Solder and heatshrink all the wires nice and neatly
  17. Im over ~260k on mine, used it for work all over the country.. Lpg'ed too. I only drive it one a week now, radiator was destroyed in that time.. I.e no fins left. One new battery, and CW changed the clutch out for me when it started slipping. Other than servicing it, nothing else has been spent fixing it. I bought it off Havard with 90k on it if i recall. Im happy with the results, and it has depreciated less in my 170k miles of enjoyment than the owner that bought it brand new, and I got to drive it for much longer
  18. It just arrived in the post - fitting it tonight - thanks Keron.
  19. Yeah Ive got Keron to ship me one for not tomorrow, the next day - I hate shipping fragile stuff But i'm chancing it on this occasion! Oh and I am fitting it myself no problem - I just wanted it done today - until I realised that there is nothing else to steal from the car really - so it doesn't matter if it takes a while. I might just park with the windows down all the time tbh - I honestly don't see a downside?
  20. Had someone smash my passenger window through last night, with a fire extinguisher to take a couple of pound coins from my ashtray in my underground secure carpark.. They smashed it into my door as well for fun, which is rather annoying. So before i go looking for a replacement white door, any idea in the north west i can get replacement glass fitted? I don't mind even fitting it myself. But obvs sooner rather than later.. Gotta go to work now.. Shouldn't have left my ashtray open with the pound coins on show
  21. Good luck with that, and give us an update!! Hopefully he will learn his lesson!!
  22. Mine is the exact same colour. And just the same size, ill have to get an up to date picture! They are super clever cats, mine does all kinds of tricks. When he wants to go outside he just reaches up and jangles the keys in the door until you come and open the door. He will sit outside the bathroom door when he wants a drink, and when i turn the tap on he jumps up has a drink from the tap and then comes to find me and brings me back to the tap so that i can turn it off..! Someone stole ours and sold it to a woman locally, he had been missing for 3 months. And then came home one day. We noticed posters of our cat on facebook etc, but with a different name.. She kept him indoors and the day she let him out he came home. 9 miles away! He is a fun happy cat and will play fetch too, but he only fetches with one in particular type of object.. Good party trick for visitors who think that only dogs play fetch. Oh and dreamies.. He can get grumpy on a weekend when i give him dreamies.. When there are none left he has a little tantrum and starts knocking things off worktops and tables.. Just looking you dead in the eye.. He uses his paw and just throws your phone on the floor. Drama queen.
  23. Love the 8kg of coonage Such a shame really, you cant have anything nice.. And when it all escalates to someone shooting tour cat, there isn't much you can do to stop it happening.. If i won the lottery id get an f1 savanna though..
