Personnally if we exclude the value of an original car with an oem setup, I’d be happy buying a Supra running the e46 m3 gearbox. I’ve owned an e46 m3 for over 5 years and the box is as nice as the v160 is in my Supra. It’s also rated for big power, with many people running Turbo e46 M3s (6-800 bhp) in the stock e46 m3 gearbox. In saying that, I don’t think the car would be worth quite as much as a single turbo supra with an original v160 gearbox. If it’s priced accordingly I wouldn’t let it put me off. A bigger consideration would be who did the conversion, who built the car and what exactly has been done to it to bring it to 600bhp. Much more pertinent factors if trying to assess reliability!

If you were buying it to hold onto for many years and were getting it for a snip, then I would say yes. If you've any interest in resale value, I'd say no. People have a mini heart attack when there is a few miles on anything exotic, due to the cost of spares and I'd imagine the car would have limited appeal within an already niche market. I appreciate you might not want to share a link etc. but is there significant saving vs. a DB9 with average mileage?

I ran mine as a daily for 4 years with no issues. Fuel wise and everyone is going to say it to you, but if it's a major concern don't buy a Supra. If you're just looking for info, it will average between 22-25, if you're on the motorway the majority of the time, I'd imagine you'd see 27mpg. Servicing is no worse than any other car, but tyres etc can be expensive depending on what wheels you're running. The biggest problem will be your hatred of putting boring miles on it. They're a fantastic car to drive and no matter what you come from you'll find them exciting. It takes a lot to get the best from a supra and that's a big portion of their appeal to me. Seeing the miles tick up as you do boring a to b stuff will 100% get on your nerves. They were built as a fast GT car, which is exactly what they are, fast, comfortable and a great all rounder, so in essence a fantastic daily. best of luck with the search if you do decide to go ahead and get one!

Dont be silly, this is Ireland, they'll be out before the end of the day, when your house has wheels its remarkably easy to jump bail. Even if locked up theyll be stuck into a community outreach programme, then my tax will pay for a nice free house for them and benefits. I'm a solicitor and one I prosecuted previously, upon release he was given a council house etc. He has just been evicted after a 2 year court (you can imagine what that cost €€€) battle because he lived in the caravan outside the house and kept the horses in it. No hope for people like this. They're literally a waste of breath.

Its what I suggested aswell, the yanks call is a DISA valve. From a quick google however I'm not sure is came on the n46 engine.

What year is the z4? From the noise is sounds like the "disa valve" or " intake manifold adjuster valve". It went on my old e60. What engine is it specifically n52? It's easy to check if its gone, it's a black box in the intake side of engine, about 10 inches long held on with a couple of torx screws. Take it off and inside there'll be a flap under spring pressure. Move it with your hands and if there's any lateral play I'd say that's the problem. Have a look at this, it might explain more... I paid 180 euro for a new one from the dealers.

Could you weld it up as a short term fix to get you the 250 miles you need to travel. It'll make the car ridiculously tail happy, but could get you out of trouble for a day or two.

I read Marty Bondango at SSI was selling coil packs at a great price. He's not an official trader on here so hopefully I'm still allowed to recommend. *edit Found an old post on Facebook, £180 + vat for a set. Not sure if they're still available as they're not listed on the website.

Which would make the £1500 cost very good value considering there's no power limitations, like doing a v160/161 conversion which costs an awful lot more.

Can't comment on the e36 but the e46 m3 gearbox is also even made by getrag. The horsepower freaks in the states are running crazy power through the standard box. Very very strong gearbox, like the supra. Gives the car the same agricultural gearchange as the TT. Could be a very good option for the TT conversions as e46 m3 boxes sell for around 600 euro over here.

I've been through a few sets of these on my M3, theyre a billiant tyre. I'd highly recommend them! My only complaint was the wore a bit quicker then other brands.

Look at an e46 M3 CSL Dnk. They're an investment in my eyes, you can already see the prices creeping up. They're amazing cars.

Can't comment on the diff oil but in my eyes 10w 60 is too much. That's like the stuff the scooby boys run. Go for 10w 40 unless the car lives on the track!

ha love the fact you don't even know how much you should be paying! its 430 as far as I know for 3 months now since the budget. Taxed the m3 start of February, it was 525 as far as I can remember. won't be getting anymore till septemberish:D

It's a lovely looking car! What's the spec?. TT? Manual or auto? I cudnt personally sell mine, just never going to be worth it, but it depends whether you need the money or not and have got a good price for your car.

No offence mate but if you found a gtst lively in the wet a supra probably isn't for you. A stock TT can be a handful, to drive a 600bhp one you'd want to be very much awake!

I'd definitely be up for a meet and the Festival of speed would be a brilliant choice. Was there last year and it was a great weekend. Only thing is hotels are very pricey during the event, so to be kept in mind for anyone needing accommodation. Get planning Carlo
