There are very few companies out there wanting to pay loads of royalties to develop an unknown product, buy all the tooling and control the manufacture of the parts, put it through all the mandatory testing (lots of), then design and develop the packaging, distribute, advertise/market and then deal with all the end of life directives etc etc. It is not easy to sell an idea and live off the royalties. It has to be an absolutely fantastic idea that identifies and solves a very well defined need for a significant number of people. May I also add that a patent may be worthless unless you have enough money to enforce it. If you almost bankrupt yourself getting the patent what use is it if you cant stop the copiers. In our legal system you have to chase the other party and that costs money - lots. Any lawyer will only give you odds of 50% because it depends on the Judges interpretation of the evidense and being human they also get it wrong. Dont let this put you off. All I am trying to do is tell the full story. Make sure you go into it with eyes open and speak to a professional as early as possible and ask all the difficult questions at day one. eg. 1. How successful is the professional offering advise. 2. How much will it cost me to define the idea and protect it 3. What routes can I take to demonstrate the idea to an interested party and how much will each cost. In return they should ask you. 4. Can you afford to lose the money you will speculate. Chris

Is this you -http://www.productsuk.com We get loads of inventors coming to us every year. Each and every single one of them has the best invention in the world. After we have done a prior art search, market search and a feasibility study 90% are scrapped. The remaining 10% usually outstrip the inventors ability to pay for them. On a rare occassion you get an invention which has novelty, has a market and can be manufactured economically and will create profit for everyone else involved. They get developed. An inventor is almost certainly going to need someone to take the product into the market (unless they CAN do it themselves) and that is where the big money is spent. There are an enormous amount of costs in promoting a product (advertising, distribution, replenishment and brand presense) which have to be considered. Now imagine you are a one product company with no history, no marketing and no distribution and no presense on the shelves - what will encourage B+Q (for example) to take on that product and give it premium shelf space (usually end of aisle) so you can make a few quid. Normally nothing. The inventor has to then consider adding a distributor in the chain and they will also want their cut as well. My advise is before you start planning your retirement on the beach under the palm trees you need to put in an awful lot of research and time and then sit back and take a long hard look at how much it will cost, what your risks are and what your likely chance of success is based on your ability and resources (time and money).

Well done mate. That looked like a great car.

Lets hope you feel the same if someone takes a key to the side of your car. Should be about the same level of damege as to the 106 or would that not be funny.

Excellent. Much better than this one. http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/images/jaws%2520boat_small.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/Modellers.htm&usg=__DH-vSVGoeGw61kbkRoWALZBwht8=&h=89&w=128&sz=4&hl=en&start=137&um=1&tbnid=NKBs7x5QHytYNM:&tbnh=63&tbnw=91&prev=/images%3Fq%3Djaws%2Bsinking%2Borca%26ndsp%3D20%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26start%3D120%26um%3D1 scroll down about 80% to click the bigger picture.

Either of the above but they are not quite right. There are some great intro sites especially the Patent Office but you must remember not to disclose the idea unless under a confidentiality agreement. http://www.ipo.gov.uk/ http://www.ipo.gov.uk/types/patent/p-about/p-advice/p-advice-inventor.htm Do some more research and then speak to an Intellectual Property professional such as a Patent Agent or Attorney. You can check out European (UK) patents online for free http://ep.espacenet.com/?locale=en_EP TBH - unless you have a superb idea you should reckon on spending a lot of money before you get anywhere close to seeing someone who would take the idea up or invest in it. I have been designing products for a living for twenty five years and there are very few people out there that make it rich and lots of people who will put their hand in your pocket along the way. I have also got many patents. PM me if you want some good contacts.

When I was a kid, at the end of our road were some retirement bungalows that were owned by the Steel works and were rented out at very low rents for ex steel workers and those who had been injured in the works. (Dont forget in those days business often cared a lot about other people). In one of the bungalows was an old guy who had one of those three wheel carriages. That poor bugger was always having to come out and find his carriage on its side or failing that just turned around in his drive so the door was up against the wall. Not at all funny and it made his life a complete misery. I would go as far s to say that with 100% certainty the Dads of the lads who did it had worked with the bloke in the works. If they had seen their lads doing that they would have given them a good slap.

Was born and bred in South Yorks. Thank God I had the brains to get out as soon as I hit eighteen. This sort of thing used to happen thirty years ago when the steel works and pits were closing. As soon as you get an economic downturn the mindset of some of the residents in SY drops a notch and they do this for a laugh. Some great laugh that was for the owner I bet. How can they not see how their actions affect other people. In fact the people who are their neighbours and friends more often than not. IMO more than likely to be bored, disaffected youths who probably feel no hope in themselves and their environment. As I said earlier in the post - symtomatic of SY whenever the economy gets a hit as it leaves the youth with nothing.

Where are her own family in all of this. Probably just left her on her own.

What, like this or do you want worse? Turns out he didn't die of a heart attack, it was food poisoning from eating an 8 year old sausage

My thought exactly. We have accounts with the larger RP bureaus in the UK so if you are cheaper it would be worth having a chat. Always on the look out to save a bit of dosh on jobs.

Yeah, have got Solidworks and Inventor (3 full license copies) plus 25years experience as a designer/engineer. There are loads of formats to work with and we can convert almost anything to anything else. For anyone who has never seen this stuff before. It has a relatively stepped surface finish and being nylon takes fair bit of rubbing down and priming to get smooth. If you can spend the time you will get a nice result and tough enough to use in a car as well. This is a great offer as these parts would cost you at least £40 for a simple dial cowling and as much as a a couple of hundred for anything like a pod cluster.

Looks like a laser cut job. To be honest they need rumbling or similar to get the edge off and then they need chrome plating. I know ali is a pig to laser on some machines but why not drop the gauge a bit and make in ali and then etch/anodise and you get all sorts of colours as well. I think you also stand a lot more chance of making a quid or two if you offer people a custom job. Its only converting an image into vector line and DXF (or whatever your NC source is). Could be fun.

SOLD I am sure the new owner will be on here soon to tell you all about it but suffice to say he seemed very happy. Many thanks for the PMs everyone but as you know its always first come first served.

I have been up early to look at this and it is not too bad at all now. The cleaner seems to have left 'water marks' in the lacquer - similar to when you do not leather the car off after washing. These should come out with a light TCut and polish. Anyway, I am off to work now so it will have to wait for another day.

I am not fit to own a Supra. I do not fookin believe it. Its a sunny day so I take the car for a drive to see if I can rekindle the spark. All very nice and a great drive, loads of sun and wind in the hair (more likely sunbirn on the bald bits) and I get home. Ok lets start to tidy the car for some pictures and notice the front of the car is plastered with flies all dried on. Get into the garage and no fly squash remover so I go under the kitchen sink and gets some Flash Kitchen cleaner spary. Give the worst bits a bit of a spray and then go to sort out the hose pipe, bucket etc. Come back and the stuff has foamed all over the place. I wash it off and it has marked the lacquer on the nose cone with white spots - all over At the very least it needs a good TCut and polish at the very worst it needs a light wet/dry and relaquer. What I need is shooting. Thats it folks, I cant do this anymore. First person to offer me £4K drives away. I am not supposed to own a Supra.

We offer a full range of accompanyments including fried egg, brown sauce (HP) and Heinz Tomato ketchup.

Today I have come to the conclusion that the Supra should go because it is just sat on my drive day after day not going anywhere. I have a business and I am working virtually every hour and on the rare occasion we do have a sunny day I am in work and totally miss out on the experience of owning the Aero. I work a mile away from home and live in a town with Gestapo parking attendants and we have no free parking in the town. Therefore I do not even use the car for daily travel and it can sit for two or three weeks at a time without being used. There is the other issue that I used to get a lot of pleasure from the car when I first bought it but now the edge seems to have gone. You might say I have fallen out of love – but through no fault of the car. This is a lovely example of a clean NA Aero and as you can see from the photos it has been kept well but needs someone with more time to make it into something cherished. The alloys need a makeover, it needs a new aerial, it needs a new rear wiper rubber and the MOT man gave an advisory on a small leak on the first Cat. I have a second hand good condition cat to fit when the leak starts to be noticeable. It has a couple of small car park dents (as does any other car) has but there is nothing that cannot be sorted if you loved the car. The engine is totally unmolested apart from an induction kit. It has UK spec suspension and a complete set of springs and shocks for lowering approx 1” which I think would make it look better. The engine bay is very tidy and clean with no oil or water leaks. Temperature is spot on and there are no misfires, dodgy idle or anything unusual about the engine at all. No smoke on start up or white smoke when running. The auto gearbox is super and behaves impeccably with no clunks or jumps into and out of gear. The interior is very tidy and has fabric front seat and black ‘leather’ rears. The boot is unmarked and has an ‘as new’ spare with toolkit etc. I have been trying to source a fabric wrap for the driver speaker grill as there is a small tear on this which bothers me every time I sit in the car and see it. Strange how little things seem very important sometimes. Currently with 65K on a P plate and I have absolutely no reason to believe that this is anything other than genuine. Speedo converted to MPH before I bought it but the active front spoiler is still set on KPH. That is an easy fix on the ECU wiring. Once again I don’t have time. Ok, now the price and the conditions. The tax runs out at the end of the month so it will be sorned. It has 12months MOT and the tyres have loads of tread. If you want to test drive it you will have to provide insurance. I will not put you on my policy or let it be driven third party. Any inspection accepted at your own cost and time to be agreed. Bearing in mind that all the car really needs is someone to love it and spend time with it I am going to make it as attractive as I can to ensure the car goes to someone with a passion who can give the car what it deserves. Yes, I have let the car down and I know it but the car is a good example and once it is sorned it will not cost me anything to stay on the drive until I get the urge to spend time on it. I am looking for £4250. If I don’t get that then I will keep the car. Working hard at business means I am strapped for time not cash. I have added some pics below and will add some more for the interior, engine bay etc hopefully over the weekend. If anyone has any questions post on here or PM me. I can pick you up from Exeter or Teignmouth railway stations if you want to view. I make good coffee the Mrs can make brilliant bacon butties. We don’t do a vegetarian option – sorry.

What about a bit of nice open top motoring with a low mileage late model NA aero. £4350 but will consider offers above £4k as this is just sitting on my driveway. Pressures of work and our towns stupid summer parking rules have brought me to sell it as I never use it.
