  1. does anybody know what this light is for? it lights up along with the warnight light for a while after heavy braking..
  2. that is tha IAT - intake air temp sensor...
  3. try to open your ecu.. and look for damaged capacitors. they tend to leak over time.. i've just had my ecu repaired and now it runs fine again.. after so many months of troubleshooting, replaced many of the ignition components already, only to find out it was the ECU. Pic of the PCB with the damaged resistors and 2 diodes PCB after removing the damaged parts
  4. if you have time, try to open your ECU and check if all components are ok.. it took me almost a year to find out whats causing the misfire on my supra, i already disassembled the dashboard to check the wire harness, changed my ignition coil, plugs, HT leads, distributor caps, rotor, until just recently out of desperation i opened my ECU, it was then that i found out there was 2 capacitors and 2 diodes that got fried.. check my thread.. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=210732 hope this helps...
  5. is it possible that the car will still run without these 2 diodes that got fried? i can easily replace the capacitor but the 2 diodes covered in black i dont think i can replace.. this is whats causing the intermittent misfire of my supra..
  6. when i switch the ignition to ON without starting the engine, the MANU light Flickers like some sort of short circuit. sometimes the manu light stays on, then off, then flickers again. any idea on which part of the electrical system to check? any sensors on the transmission or engine responsible for this?
  7. the engine trouble was caused by a rusty socket near the ECU (orange socket with a lever for disconnecting)... i cleaned it with a contact cleaner, sanded the terminals.. now it runs fine again.. thanks for all your input..
  8. thanks for your input mate.. i'll try to install a different coil and see if it still misfires..
  9. could it be my ignition coil is the culprit? i checked all plugs and they are all black (soot) indicating a rich mixture.. and when i start the car it runs normal for a few seconds and then its symptoms comes back.. my guess is that when the ignition coil is still cold it still fires normally, then after a few seconds when its hot it misfires.. can anyone confirm this? thanks
  10. my TPS is NEW.. havent checked the ISC Valve yet.. what do i look for in my ISC valve? how do i test it if its still ok?
  11. i dont think timing is the problem here.. could be the ignition coil? i'll try to replace it with a new one..
  12. by rotating the distributor.. the MANU light blinks on and off when i turn the ignition to ON even without starting the car
  13. now it starts but below 1k rpm even when cold.. then dies.. when i turn the ignition to ON the MANU light turns on and off like some sort of short circuit. and i can hear something ticking underneath the auto transmission everytime the MANU turns on and off
  14. yes im really in the philippines.. cagayan de oro city
  15. i hope you guys can help me. i am on my own on this one.. not even toyota here in our place can help me, cant trust them with a car they are not familiar with..
  16. i checked the ignition coil. resistance on the 2 terminals (positive and negative) is about .9.. and positive and lead resistance is about 13k.. out of specs, but is this the reason why its stalling. i wanna make sure coz ignition coil is not cheap. and i have to order it from the US...
  17. this one dosent have the air mass sensor like the ones on other supras, this is 1993.5 supra.. only the IAT Sensor (intake air temp)
  18. as far as i can recall, i checked the timing and it was way too advanced, past the 20 degree mark, it was its original setting when i first had this car.. it went on without a hitch for more than 5000 kilometers. i thought it was too advanced since the toyota supra is supposed to be only at 10degrees. so i adjusted it back to 10.. then it went on fine after a few days.. then it started showing signs of stalling.. like the one in the video.. thinking it was the timing, i advanced it a little bit.. then it went fine again after a few days. then stall again.. i adjusted until im back to its original setting, still the same.. stall after a few kilometers.. now it wont start anymore..
  19. i started the car this morning, cold engine just under 1k rpm.. then the engine dies.. white smoke on the exhaust
  20. i'll try this tomorow mate.. thanks for sharing your knowledge
  21. i have the ingen short ram intake.. i've already reset the ecu.. same problem
  22. yes it does stall.. the rpm needle jumps down and up quickly like in the video even when accelerating... i have no parts to swap since my supra is the only supra in our city...
  23. during driving.. then the rpm was erratic like the one in the video.. thought it was the timing at first.. but after adjusting the timing its still the same.. when i turn the ignition to ON the MANU light kinda blinks and turns on..
