  1. Cryptocurrencies are the epitome of materialism. How wealth is created is more important than wealth itself, theres nothing honorable about getting rich from morally dubious sources. These cryptocurrencies are currently being used to fuel terrorism, tax evasion, money laundering, drugs, black market arms etc, which will only be fought with state intervention, and as I said before, proper regulation.
  2. Are you denying that cryptocurrencies are going to become regulated? or that regulation is in itself a powerful market force? (Which, btw, is seen in every facet of economics) This is basic economics, something i learned in my first semester at uni Any platform which relies on electronic transactions, calculations, computations, networking etc is naturally going to use power. Maybe other platforms dont use anything like the amount that bitcoin does, and i wouldnt pretend to have the first clue to the extent, but its still going to have an impact. Hopefully people take the environmental impact of these investments into account before getting involved. I hope your strategy works out for you, i fully intend to work until I drop
  3. But that isnt going to happen without regulation, which itself will effect the value. I can also imagine taxes and strict regs being introduced to farming crypto currencies, due to the horrendous impact it is having on the environment, and the potential impact it will have on powergrids if it grows as you're anticipating. Itll be a cold day in hell when I start using what little free time i have reading about the aquisition of wealth , frankly it just isnt important, and often becomes a miserable, ruinous obsession.
  4. Given the enormous media hype which caused this huge crypto boom has waned, i cant see what would make it spike again. It will stabilise, and undoubtedly go up in value over time (and recede again), but if there was some solid evidence that it was going to spike then the price would already be increasing. The recent slump will make people much more reluctant to invest in future imo. I dont think this is a burst bubble, but equally I think the risk at the moment outweighs the reward somewhat.
  5. Dont know the guy or his group so cant comment, but I bet you theres a lot of people who went on Facebook etc looked at their friends bragging about the gains they had made (and ive seen plenty of it), who have then invested and just lost large sums of money. Just looking at this thread you can tell there are people who have obviously spent the time researching this subject, and then those who know nothing about it but think they can make a good profit quickly. I suppose the best advice for novice investors is similar to that the forum gives about Supra ECU choice, as in choose your mapper and they will tell you what to use. A decent, competent, trustworthy financial advisor (and they do exist) will tell you the best thing to invest your money in, based on your 'pot' and the amount of risk you're willing to accept. These cryptocurrencies are going to be a rollercoaster for the forseable future.
  6. Given his recent auto shifter mod, im sure Burner would be able to produce a little box of tricks that converts the bmw speed signal to something the Supra clocks can understand, but it would likely be a lot of work, and result in significant cost.
  7. I work at Volvo, at I assume Jagman will be talking about a D5 engined S60/ V70/ V70 cross country. They are built like tanks, and as he said they can cover enormous mileages if looked after. But they can be expensive when things go wrong, Volvo parts prices can be high, and main dealer service rates are among the highest. If one of the various control units go you can only get a replacement brand new from volvo, used ones dont work as they are keyed to the car, so the cost can be eyewatering. But on the whole they dont go wrong. Early ones are the best, later ones can have swirl flap and dpf issues, and they will eat front tyres if the tracking isnt perfect, but in the grand scheme of things they are very good. The d5 also has bags of character for a diesel engine
  8. I can understand both sides of the 'lifetime membership' discussion, but instead of scrapping it, why not introduce an additional 'premium membership'. Not sure what extras you could include, but maybe a calendar, first refusal on tickets for club events like S club party, Dragonball etc?
  9. Awesome bet they're even more impressive in the flesh. Now try and find us some videos of them in action
  10. Gen7 Celica if you're being sensible-ish, if not an BMW E39 530i.
  11. Even *if* by some chance the calipers do bolt on and fit over the small rear discs, what effect does this have on braking force? Which pads can be used, and do they fit the discs correctly? Which brake hoses are needed?
  12. Very much looking forward to seeing how this one turns out Great to see after the tragedy that befell his last one.
  13. Sometimes the discussion in build threads is as useful as the OP's posts.
  14. Thats more like it think I might buy a set of those and put them away, even if i don't end up doing a car it is likely they will get discontinued and be worth a fortune in a few years.
  15. Was thinking about doing a similar project myself at some point, but how do you replicate the GTR rear wings to a decent standard? (ie, without loads of fibreglass and filler)
  16. I'm 99.9999999999% it didnt / doesn't work.
  17. The traders themselves have really shot themselves in the foot with the forum by posting so little, although a requirement for a trader and hobbyist membership should have always included a rough quota of posts per week/month. It is new threads and footfall that keeps the forum alive. Some traders literally only post on here when they want something, which is pretty disgraceful imo. Even though Im working ridiculous hours at the moment and maybe get a couple of hours a day when im not at work, asleep or eating, i try and get on the forum each day. I dont see how 'being busy' is an acceptable excuse for people who want to be mods to not post on the forum for weeks/months on end. If they can't be bothered, they shoukd quit and let other people take it on.
  18. Chris Wilson may be able to help
  19. Presumably you also dislike the Pagani Zonda, because it uses an old Mercedes engine? Cars are becoming more expensive to develop, and we will see much more tech and product sharing across brands. For me a straight six is a massive plus point, and if it has to be bought in then at least it is being done so from another great Manufacturer. As with the GT86/BRZ, perhaps Toyota will contribute to the design of this engine somehow (Toyota head?) I'd much rather a bmw straight six than a toyota v6.
  20. The mk4 Supra was designed to be better than the z32, not the r32/r33. Supras have always competed with the Fairlady line, not the Skyline GTR. But the price will (should) reflect that. What few Skyline GTRs we got here were always significantly more expensive than the uk spec mk4.
  21. Presumably this will always be the case though? At least to an extent. You either have hardware which is OTT for running non VR games, or you push the hardware with the regular game and throttle it when using VR.
  22. They did, infact they got a unique model NA for the final model year, a vvti version (something even the japanese didnt get)
  23. Looks more like the ft1, but not as curved. Mk5 Supra concept / nurburgring test car?
  24. What is to the left of the supra in that pic?
